Timing System to Replace

Color Black

• ST 2059-1, 2059-2

• Based on IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP)

• Timing for the digital age

– No dedicated color-black distribution; uses

EtherNet

– Compatible with existing installations -- mix &

match

– Expected to be basis of new time labeling system

– (But still permits generation of SMPTE 12M)

– SDI still has its uses

– Simple, reliable, inexpensive

– Good for short runs (say <40 meters

(95-99% of runs?)
