PRESIDENT’S EXHAUSTPRESIDENT’S EXHAUST

Welcome neW Sierra nevada mbca memberS…

None this Month

e have finishedanother fantasticyear in the landof the Mercedes-Benz Club ofAmerica. In No-vember your

board had the planning meeting for nextyear and now the main events are on thecalendar. While these events will keepthings going we can always use anotherevent for each month. We encourage themembership to create something new toadd to the list.

Many thanks to Ray Rich, JudyCovert, and Karin Gash for their effortsto create another fantastic Christmasparty at the Bricks Restaurant. Therewere 35 in attendance (28% of the mem-bership). The extra effort to have a longlist of drawings for gifts was appreci-ated. In my humble opinion the foodchoices were excellent as was the serv-ice. The First event in January is on the8th, Patti Settember has arranged for aTuesday dinner at Hobey’s Restaurantin Sun Valley. RSVPs are appreciatedand the event closes on January 3rd.Check the events list in the newsletter.

For the year, our section lost twomemberships and three associates. As of

WNovember 30th we have 86 member-ships and 125 associates. I have taken onthe extra job of Membership Chairmanand have the goal of increasing the num-bers. If anyone has any ideas of how toassist me, it would be appreciated.

We thank those who chose to host afirst Tuesday dinner for next year. Justas a review here are the basics: pick arestaurant you would like to show to themembership, go to the MANAGER andgive him/her the date and ask if separatechecks would be OK for couples or sin-gles. If the date and separate checks aregood then you are set. IF not then findanother restaurant. Once you are setthen notify Marc Dodson the what, when, where and time as well as yourname and contact telephone and emailfor RSVP. We hope to have Motor-SportReg.com available also. ManySmiles

To everyone, Lori and I wish all ofyou the Happiest of New Years and thebest for the future.

seum is located at 10 South LakeStreet in Reno, (775) 333-9300.

yes virginia, you can now PayFor club events by credit cardby Marc Dodson, editor

Believe it or not, our Sierra Nevada section has finally entered the 21st

century and you can now pay for club events by credit card right from your

computer or smart phone. We have set up an account at

MotorSportReg.com, a company that specializes in event registration for car

clubs nationwide.

The national MBCA is the primary account member, already paying the

annual fee, and many MBCA sections across the country have been taking

advantage of this service for years.

How it Works

The first time you use the service you can opt to set up a password-pro-

tected account. MotorSportReg.com will then save your info for future use.

Several of our members have had accounts with this service for years, regis-

tering through other car clubs or even for non-club auto events.

This service will allow our members to RSVP and register online for

events, as well as pay by credit card when an event fee is required. Funds

collected are deposit directly to our section bank account, and a list of those

who have paid or RSVP’d will then be sent directly to our club.

Refunds & Cancelations

When you pay for an event through MotorSportReg.com, you will be

asked to check a box accepting their terms, which states that they don’t

make refunds. HOWEVER, your credit card will not be charged until AFTER

the event. You can cancel right up until the last minute and there would be

no charge for most events. Of course, if the event involves the pre-purchas-

ing of show tickets, reserved seating, or an up-front required deposit by the

venue, then there won’t be a refund. This is exactly the same as our previ-

ous policy when we operated by checks only.

Alternatives

Don’t like this new-fangled idea? Of course you can still send a check or

RSVP the old fashioned way, but for those of you who wish to take advan-

tage of this service, it should make things much easier.

Finally

So… in the future, our club events and activity notices will contain a se-

cure link to the MotorSportReg.com for that event. Try it out!
