Information

Please contact the Monash Health Foundation office if you have any questions, on 9594 2700

Thank you for supporting the 2019 Walk for Monash Children’s Hospital. Your fundraising efforts will make a lasting difference in the lives of young patients.

By participating in the Walk this year you are helping us purchase a cardiovascular ultrasound. This specialist equipment will help us improve care for infants who have foetal cord restriction or congenital diaphragmatic hernias. Both these conditions can result in long term health challenges, but with early detection and proper care can be overcome.

Thanks to wonderful people like you, the Walk for Monash Children’s Hospital has raised over $700,000

since 2013. Your fundraising efforts enable us to support our patients through the purchase of life-saving equipment, research projects, and patient wellbeing programs.

Thank you for supporting Victoria’s sickest patients and their families.

It’s not too late to increase the difference you make in the lives of sick kids this year! Today is the perfect day to share your photos at Jells Park and collect online donations, use #MCHWALK to tag your photos.

Enjoy your day, and thank you for imagining a healthier future for sick kids.

Welcome

To our sponsors.

Thank youFounded by

Event Location and Parking

The Walk for Monash Children’s Hospital is located at the beautiful Jells Park, Wheelers Hill near Jells Lake and Madeline’s at Jells (Map available on home page and in event booklet).

Parking in the main car park at the North Entrance off Waverley Road will provide the easiest access to the event but there is additional parking located nearby.

The Waverley Netball Centre carpark will also be open for parking.

Event times

Registration will open at 8.00am

We recommend you arrive nice and early to allow time to park your car and pick up your event bib.

On stage activities will start at 9am.

Walk for Monash Children’s Hospital start times:

1km walk 9.45am

10km walk 10.20am

5km walk 10:50am

In order to minimise congestion on the course, participants will be released in ‘waves’ every 3-5 minutes.

The event will conclude at 1.30pm.

If you are running in any of these categories it would be greatly appreciated if you were able to make your way to the front of the line before the event starts.

This is a non-competitive event and we will not be timing this event.

What to bring on the day

Please check the weather on the day. This is Melbourne! You may need wet weather clothing or suitable attire for warm weather. Comfortable shoes are a must. Please bring a hat and wear sunscreen. A back pack or bum bag is useful to store personal belongings. If you wish to purchase food, coffee and merchandise please bring money. It is a good idea to bring your own bottle of water if you can.

Participation bib collection

All participants can collect their event bib from the registration marquee in the event precinct on Sunday. If you raised $50 or more (as an individual) you will be given your free Monash Children’s Hospital t-shirt or cap when you collect your bib. We will do our best to accommodate for your preferred t-shirt size.

The registration tent will be open from 8am. We accept on the day registrations which can be paid for via cash or Eftpos at the registration marquee.

We recommend arriving at least 45 minutes prior to your walk/run start time to collect your bib and enjoy the pre-walk entertainment.

Event activities

Entertainment will start from 8.30am and includes live music and a performance by Bethany Fisher. Bring your toy teddy bear along to be mended at the Teddy Bear Hospital. There will also be an animal farm, vintage cars on display, a firetruck, free massages and games with Playball Glen Eira.

Yoghurt, curries, sausages and coffee will be available to re-fuel before and after your walk or run. Medals will be awarded to all participants at the finish line.

Walking in Memory

You may notice some teams are wearing an orange t-shirt. These teams are walking in memory of a loved-one. If you are walking in memory of a loved one and would also like the orange t-shirt please ask at the registration desk.

Tribute Wall

Celebrate the day and share with us your motivation for walking by pinning your tribute on the tribute wall located near the start line.

VIP Club

Participants who raised $1,000 or more (as an individual before midnight on Saturday 2 March) will be welcomed to the VIP marquee in the main event precinct. There will be free food and drink available there for you. You will also have the opportunity to meet and greet some Channel Nine TV personalities.
