We can organise client data in a better way to improve response times, particularly by Elasticsearch. This is a dedicated search and analytics engine, allowed a ‘quick search’ facility. Whatever format is used we will be able to bring existing System data into that format.
Our online hosting is balanced across multiple servers, which prevents any server from becoming a single point of failure, thus improving overall application availibility and responsiveness.
Crucially, we have already developed about 80 percent of the Socrates Online platform before you even
commission us, because the fundamentals of most systems are the same. The next 20 percent is
bespoke to your requirements. So we have already provided you with an important cost saving before
we've even started.

Quotation EnginesOur quotation engines have many and varied options for you to choose from, such as the order or relevance of the questions. These would be agreed before the premium is generated. Using a fully versioned rating scheme, there is no need to save particular quotes when presented with multiple results - they can all be regenerated at the original price upon issuing. Those original prices can also be retained for editing the quote unless a requote is required (because the cover has changed).
Secure PaymentSecure payment processes are available via the Socrates Secure Hosting Gateway. You can have complete confidence that all payments and medical screening declarations are shown, providing client history and a clear audit trail.
Browser EnhancementsReal-time browser enhancements, such as autocomplete text fields and live premium updates, can be done utilising React library, and the associated tooling around it. This library is created by Facebook and used by many sites, such as Twitter and Netflix, to enhance their customer user experience.
Accurate Assessment of Medical ConditionsThe latest release of the Antidote Medical Library and/or the Verisk Travel Black Box software can be incorporated*, allowing you to accurately assess any increased risk posed by pre-existing medical conditions and rate appropriately. This allows us to integrate a tighter, more seamless integration of medical screening for both our client and the direct user. This includes full control over exclusions, linked conditions and pregnancy complications.
*Subject to agreement and relevant contract between parties.
Mid Term AdjustmentsWe can split MTA’s in to those that generate a new version of the schedule, and those that generate an endorsement, such as name/region changes or medical screening adjustments. Additional premiums can be automatically calculated based on difference in cover. This creates a history of policy changes that are automatically carried through to renewal.
Greater historical tracking/auditing facilities are required, so we include a policy notes section section clearly identifiying all changes occuring during the lifetime of the policy.

Streamlined updating, linking and comparisons, all come as standard.
We use a modern, well supported framework called Laravel to build our main PHP site upon. This
provides many benefits such as readable URLs, inbuilt unit testing, session handling, security against
cross forgery requests, password encryption and others. This allows us as developers to concentrate on
our client’s business logic.
We employ a continuous integration server called Bamboo that manages our build and deployment
process automatically, eliminating human error involved in manual deployment. We camn branch the
System into multiple copies to work on seperate features and then merge back at a later time. This allos
small bug fixes to deploy independently of ongoing long term feature development.
