Parks

Lal Bagh:is abotanical garden, commissioned by theHyder Aliin the year1760. The 240-acre (0.97km2) park is home to over 1000 species offloraand a Glass House. The park is known for its annual flower show. The garden surrounds one of the towers erected by the founder ofBangalore,Kempe Gowda I. The Lal Bagh Rock, dates back to 3000 million years, is another attraction. Bangalore Palace(1862) is located near Mekhri Circle and Cantonment Railway station and is built to look like a smaller replica of theWindsor CastleinEngland.

Nandi Hillsis a hill station inKarnatakaState,India. The hills are located about 35 km east ofBangaloreand about 9500 ft above sea level. The deviation road at Oordagere on the Bangalore-Tumkur Road can reach it. All buses leave from Bangalore's central bus station "Bangalore Majestic" or "Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS)". As this is a local bus, tickets (charge around 46/- per head) are sold directly in the bus. You can book the seats from ticket counter at Majestic with Rs. 200/- per head. That ensures your seat, nothing else. In the morning and evening there are direct buses. The KSRTC bus to the top leaves at 8:30AM from platform 13 (it varies, but it will be near to that). Returning direct buses from the Hills to Bangalore leave at 2:30PM, 4:15PM and 5PM. But the timings are not strictly followed.

Government buildings

Vidhana Soudha:is the seat of the state legislature ofKarnataka. It is an imposing granite building, built in the year1956in the 'Neo-Dravidian' style, incorporates elements of Indo-Saracenic, RajasthaniJharokhaandDravidianstyles. Vidhana Soudha is the brainchild ofKengal Hanumanthaiahand built by chief engineerB.R. Manickam.

Museums and Galleries Bangalore Museum Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum: The museum was instituted as part of the centenary celebrations of the engineer-statesman Sir M. Visvesvaraya (18611962).

HAL Aerospace Museum: The Museum showcases the growth of the Indian aviation industry andHALfor six decades. The Museum is maintained by HAL (one of Asia's largestAerospacecompanies). The museum houses displays of variousaircraftandhelicopters,Aircraft enginemodels,Flight simulators, a mockAir Traffic ControlTower and exhibit of Indian aviation history.

St Patrick's church:Built in 1844 this is one of the oldest churches in Bangalore and is situated on Residency Road. Memorial Church & Christ Church:These are the two remaining "Original Anglican" churches in Bangalore City affiliated to the Traditional Anglican Communion in India. They are located at Whitefield (Outer Circle) & Basavanguddi respectvely St. Mary's Basilica: It is the oldest church in Bangalore and is the only church in the state that has been elevated to the status of aminor basilica.[3][4]It is famous for the festivities held during the St. Mary's Feast in the month of September each year, an event that attracts a number of devotees from in and around Bangalore.

Infant Jesus Church: Established in 1979 by Rev. Dr. Lourduswamy, the then Archbishop of Bangalore, the church draws huge crowds on Thursday, the day dedicated toInfant Jesus.

Around Bangalore
