My dear Parishioners, Today I wish to continue to reflect on the future of our parish of St. Paul of the Cross. You may recall that I began this reflection on the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. At that time I suggested that we should consider the parish as a family and, as such, it should provide a healthy environment in which each member can grow more easily in wisdom, age and favor before God and neighbor so that, to-gether, all members might contribute effectively to the com-mon goal of spreading the Gospel. Just as Christ fulfilled his mission as Priest, Prophet and King, so his followers continue his threefold mission in their own lives. As a priestly people, they offer worship to God by praying and celebrating the sacraments, especially by shar-ing deeply in the Eucharist. As a prophetic people, they con-tinually pursue a deeper knowledge of their faith, live it daily and seek out opportunities to share it with others. As citizens of Christ’s Kingdom, they strive for justice, love and peace in their own lives, in society, and in the life of the world. Each follower of Christ is gifted by God in a unique way so as to enable them to accomplish God’s plan for their own life and for the life of the world. By prayerful discernment and aided by the parish family, they discover God’s will for them and determine to use their gifts to accomplish it. On this second Sunday after Christmas we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, and ponder the gospel account of the Maji from the east presenting their gifts of gold, frankin-cense and myrrh to him. Like the Maji, we too can offer our gifts to Christ; not gold, or frankincense or myrrh, but some-thing of ourselves. For many of us, it will be a renewal of that offering, for some it may be a first-time offering. What-ever it may be, let it be wholehearted. A wonderful way to begin a new year of service to the Lord and our neighbor. —Fr. Jerome, C.P.

SOLEMNIDAD DE LA EPIFANÍA DEL SEÑOR 5 DE ENERO DE 2020

Page 4

Ame n.

P. Luis, C.P.
