Animals are shot, poisoned, gassed, snared, and trapped in leg hold traps. They are responsible for the recent poisoning of thousands of birds that were seen falling out of the sky in several areas of the country. In 2009, Wildlife Services killed 4,120, 295 animals. As a business model this is perfect. First they are called to assess a problem and then they are hired to fixit. Cougars killed by Wildlife Services What Ohio Division of Wildlife (ODOW) Does ODOW has been working for years to bolster dwindling numbers of “sport hunters” thru a program of “Urban Hunting” which provides more hunting access which hunters apparently demand. Scott Peters (ODNR) has visited many suburban communities to spread the word that “Solon uses sharpshooters. That’s a quick fix but long term hunting is the answer.” The ODNR refuses to approve the use of deer contraceptives in deer management even though the federal EPA has approved it. This is in spite of tests which have shown them to be effective.
