Calvert’s research-based framework for teaching and learning:

Project Learn Use Show (PLUS) ProjectCarefully developed, age-appropriate projects motivate and engage students. They align to standards, build foundational skills, and teach students how to apply knowledge in solving real-world challenges. There are opportunities for students to collaborate with each other.

LearnStudents explore material through active learning opportunities that include interactive digital activities designed to encourage independent thinking. Frequent formative assessments provide many opportunities to assess students’ understanding and intervene if needed.

UseLessons include formal checks that assess deeper learning (i.e., mastery) of the concepts. These assessments are aligned to standards, formatted as constructed response, and designed to show mastery. Show Students showcase what they’ve learned in creative expressive ways that demonstrate meaningful understanding.
