1. The Kennedy EmpireAbout a century ago, the Kennedy empire was founded in Boston,

Massachusetts, by Joe Kennedy, who was born on September 6,

1888, as Joseph Patrick Kennedy, the son of Patrick Joseph Kennedy

(January 14, 1858 – May 18, 1929) and Mary Augusta Hickey

(December 6, 1857 – May 20, 1923). Later on, Joe Kennedy became

a successful businessman and an influential politician, just like his

father P.J. Kennedy. In total, P.J. Kennedy and Mary Hickey, who

married in Boston on November 23, 1887, got four children:

o Joseph Patrick Kennedy (September 6, 1888 – November 18, 1969)

o

Francis Benedict Kennedy (March 11, 1891 – January 14, 1892) o Mary Loretta Kennedy (Augustus 6, 1892 – November 18, 1971)

o Margaret Louise Kennedy (October 22, 1898 – November 14, 1974)

When Joe was 2½ years old, he got a baby brother named Francis.

However, this baby brother died at the age of ten months. This means

that Joe grew up with two younger sisters, Mary and Margaret.

On Wednesday, October 7, 1914, the 26-years old Joe Kennedymarried the 24-years old Rose Fitzgerald. Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald

was born on July 22, 1890, as the daughter of John Francis Fitzgerald

(February 11, 1863 – October 2, 1950) and Mary Josephine Hannon

(October 31, 1865 – August 8, 1964). Her parents, commonly known

as Honey Fitz and Josie, who married on September 18, 1889, had

after Rose five more children.

Joe’s father P.J. and the father of Joe’s wife Rose, Honey Fitz,who was elected twice as the mayor of Boston, were political rivals.

Through the marriage of Joe Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald, two of

Boston’s most prominent political families were joined. That

marriage laid the foundation for the rise of the Kennedy empire. As

Joe Kennedy’s business success expanded, he and his family later on

kept homes in the Boston area, suburban New York City, Hyannis

Port (Massachusetts), and Palm Beach (Florida).

bombing mission that suddenly exploded off the coast of Normandy,

France. In fact, Joe Jr. was even warned that the bombs might

accidentally go off. Would the first born of such an influential man

really be put in such a hazardous situation?

Even more remarkable is that this explosionwas caught on camera by an airplane flying

behind it. How many secret air missions have a

filming plane on their tail? The truth is that Joe

Sr. needed this film recording to proof that hiseldest son “died”. In reality, Joe Jr. was never

on this bomber when it was blown to tiny

pieces. And as this plane was flown by remote

control once it was on the air, nobody was

actually on this airplane when it was deliberately detonated. Long

before that, the pilot and Joe Jr. had jumped out of this plane with a

parachute. Or perhaps Joe Jr. never boarded this bomber in the first

place. Anyway, not even a single tiny piece of the remains of Joe Jr.

was ever found. The reason for this is of course that he never died

that day. After his faked death, the 29-years old Joe Kennedy Jr.

became the first hidden emperor of the Kennedy empire. His fatherand founder of this Empire, Joe Kennedy Sr., was at that time 55

years old. He must have felt a huge relief that his empire was now

secured.

On Friday, November 22, 1963, the Kennedy

empire pulled off the very same trickery once

more. This time, Joe Kennedy Sr.’s second son

was allegedly shot while driving as a USApresident with many enemies in an unprotected

car through an unsecured area via a publicly

announced route. Anyone with even the

slightest intelligence would have felt like a

sitting duck while driving around the Dallas

city park named Dealey Plaza. Clearly, Jack

Kennedy was not that stupid. This leaves but

one logical conclusion: The JFK assassination was fake.

Maybe Joe Jr. was tired of playing the hidden emperor, after 19

years. Or he got seriously sick, and died. Anyway, his younger

brother had to take over. That is why, after November 22, 1963, Jack

Kennedy became the second hidden emperor of the Kennedy empire.

Just 4½ years later, the Kennedy family pulled

off the faked death trick for the third time.

Probably Jack died too. Maybe he missed the

overwhelming public attention that he received

while he was the president of the USA.

Anyway, he had to be replaced by his younger

brother. That is why Bobby Kennedy also had

a fake assassination, resulting in his exit onThursday, June 6, 1968. The numerological

value of that date is 6 6 6, as June is the sixth

month of the year and number 1968 also equals 6 (1+9+6+8=24, and

2+4=6). After that 666 date, Bobby Kennedy became the third

hidden emperor of the Kennedy empire. During his reign, his father

and founder of the Kennedy empire, Joe Sr., died at the age of 81

years old, on November 18, 1969.

Next, it was not the fourth and youngest son of

Joe Kennedy Sr., namely Ted Kennedy, who

became the fourth hidden emperor of the

Kennedy empire. That fourth hidden emperor

came from the next generation, being the eldest

son of the second hidden emperor, and having

the same full name as his father: John

Fitzgerald Kennedy. On Friday, July 16, 1999,

the 38-years old John F. Kennedy Jr. allegedly

died when the airplane that he was piloting

crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard,

Massachusetts. Most likely, the head quarters of the hidden Kennedy

empire is on the Chappaquiddick Island, directly east of the island of

Martha’s Vineyard, about 100 miles south of Boston. After July 16,

1999, John Kennedy became the fourth hidden emperor of theKennedy empire.

On Friday, July 18, 1969, when Joe Sr. was

still alive, the 28-years old Mary Jo Kopechne

died on the Chappaquiddick Island. She was

most likely murdered by Ted Kennedy. He

claimed that he offered Mary to drive her towhere she was staying that night. However,

Mary told none of her friends that she was

leaving. On top of that, Mary did not know

USA senator Ted Kennedy that well. Lateron, at an appropriate spot, Ted Kennedy

exited the car, and pushed it together with Mary off the road into the

ocean. Probably Mary was unconscious or sedated when the car went

down. My take on this so-called Chappaquiddick incident is that

Mary accidentally found out that Bobby Kennedy was still alive.

Therefore Ted was ordered to take care of this problem, which he

did.

In short, this is the general storyline of the hidden Kennedy empire.

Currently, John F. Kennedy Jr. is still the fourth emperor of this

secret empire. In the next section, we will have a closer look at the

genealogy of this powerful Kennedy family before we examine the

faked deaths of Jack and Bobby Kennedy.

2. The Kennedy GenealogyJoe Kennedy Sr.’s eldest son Joe Jr. had no children when he became

hidden at the age of 29. After that, he might have had children, but

that is of course also hidden.

On September 12, 1953, Jack Kennedy married Jackie Bouvier.

Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was born on July 28, 1929 as the daughter of

John Vernou Bouvier III (May 19, 1891 – August 3, 1957) and Janet

Norton Lee (December 3, 1907 – July 22, 1989). Jack and Jackie had

four children, but two of them died (almost) immediately:

August 23, 1956: Arabella Kennedy (stillborn)o November 27, 1957: Caroline Bouvier Kennedy (Caroline)o November 25, 1960: John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. ( John)o August 7, 1963: Patrick Bouvier Kennedy (died after two days)

In the general election on November 8, 1960, the Democrat Jack

Kennedy defeated the Republican Vice President Richard M. Nixon

in a very close race. At the age of 43, Jack Kennedy was the

youngest man elected president of the USA. On January 20, 1961, hegave his Inaugural Address.

It is a public “secret” that Jack Kennedy had an affair with the

famous actress, model, and singer named Marilyn Monroe. Her real

name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, born on June 1, 1926. Clearly

Joe Sr. did not approve of his son’s affair with the 9-years younger

Marilyn. That is why he ordered histhird son Bobby, who was at that time

the USA attorney general, meaning the

head of the USA Department of

Justice, to take care of this problem.

That is why the 36-years old Marilyn

Monroe was “suicided”. She was

found dead on August 5, 1962, in the

bedroom of her home in Los Angeles,California.

After Jack Kennedy disappeared, his wife Jackie, who knowingly

participated in this staged assassination, married three years later, on

October 20, 1968, with the 62-years old Aristotle Onassis (January

15, 1906 – March 15, 1975). Jackie was 39 years old when she

married Ari or Aristo, as this Greek shipping magnate andbusinessman usually was called. At that time, he owned the world’s

largest privately owned shipping fleet. Jackie and Ari married on a

Greek island named Skorpios, also owned by the groom. Jacqueline

Kennedy Onassis died on May 19, 1994, at the age of 64 years old.

On September 21, 1996, the 35-years old John

Kennedy (JFK Jr.) married the 30-years old

Carolyn Bessette. Carolyn Jeanne Bessette was

born on January 7, 1966, as the youngest child

of William J. Bessette and Ann Messina

Freeman. Probably John learned about the

loneliness of both his father and his uncle, and

therefore he disappeared together with his wife

Carolyn, who was allegedly with him in the

plane that crashed in the Atlantic Ocean near Martha’s Vineyard onJuly 16, 1999. Also Carolyn older sister Lauren disappeared since

that day, as she was also said to be on board of that small airplane.

On Saturday, June 17, 1950, grandfather Joe Sr.’s third son Bobby

Kennedy married Ethel Skakel, born on April 11, 1928, as the third

daughter of businessman George Skakel (July 16, 1892 – October 3,

1955) and Ann Brannack. Bobby and Ethel had eleven children:

o March 24, 1967: Douglas Harriman Kennedy ( Douglas)o December 12, 1968: Rory Elizabeth Katherine Kennedy ( Rory).

Rory was born six months after her father’s submerging to the hidden

world. Next, two sons of Bobby Kennedy died prematurely. DavidKennedy died on April 25, 1984, at the age of 28 years old. And

Michael Kennedy died on December 31, 1997, at the age of 39 years

old. Why would it be that only male Kennedys die young?

Grandfather Joe Sr. youngest son Ted Kennedy married on Saturday,

November 29, 1958, with Joan Bennett. Virginia Joan Bennett was

born on September 2, 1936, as the daughter of Harry Wiggin Bennett

(1907 – 1981) and Virginia Joan Stead (1911 – 1976). Ted Kennedy

and his wife Joan had three children:

o February 27, 1960: Kara Anne Kennedy (Kara)o September 26, 1961: Edward Moore Kennedy (Ted Jr.)o July 14, 1967: Patrick Joseph Kennedy II (Patrick )

After her husband Ted had killed Mary

Jo Kopechne on ChappaquiddickIsland, as described above, Joan

Bennett Kennedy attended first Mary’s

funeral, and three days later she also

stood beside her husband in court

when he pleaded guilty. That is, Ted

Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the

scene of an accident, and not to have pushed Mary in a car off the

road into the ocean. Shortly thereafter, Joan Bennett Kennedysuffered a miscarriage. In fact, it was her third miscarriage.

In early 1978, Ted Kennedy and his wife Joan actually separated.

However, during the failed 1980 USA presidential campaign of Ted,

they remained publicly together. The next year, in 1981, their divorce

was announced, and it was finalized in 1983.

Also three daughters of Joe Sr. delivered grandchildren. Eunice, Pat,

and Jean, each had three children. As none of them bear the last

name of Kennedy, they are not mentioned here in this booklet on the

Kennedy empire. When grandfather Joe Sr. as the founder of the

Kennedy empire died in 1969, he had 25 grandchildren. After hisdeath, no mere grandchildren were born.

3. Faking the JFK AssassinationAnyone with an open mind who investigates the facts of the alleged

assassination of the 35th

USA president on November 22, 1963, can

reach only one logical conclusion: The event was staged .

The above picture shows the leading actors Jack and Jackie doing a

photo shoot before the film recordings of later that day. Could you

tell from this nice photo that both are crooks?

The shocking truth is that no real shots were fired around 12:30

p.m. that day around Dealey Plaza. All footage was produced by the

same production company for only one

reason, which was to convince the public

that Jack Kennedy died on November 22,

1963. The picture later shown to the public

of an alleged dead man does not at all

resemble Jack Kennedy. It also clearly

shows that fake teeth are pushed under theupper lip of this man.

Do you need further proof that support the conclusion that Dealey

Plaza was a film set that afternoon? If so, then please tell me what

the man with the umbrella is doing, in the middle of the picture

below.

If you need a sharper picture, simply search for images on the

internet with as search string for example ‘JFK assassination

umbrella man’. Clearly, this “umbrella man” was the director of this

film shooting, and the man in front of him, raising his right arm, was

the assistant-director.

As the Kennedy empire had already control over the media and the

law enforcement, it was possible to pull off this fakery. Even more

then half a century later, many people are still debating about

multiple shooters, bullet lines, and the ones who were behind thisassassination, while in fact not a single real shot was fired. All

footage was deliberately produced in order to create the illusion of an

assassination. Apparently, the film shooting was still to revealing.

That is why the videos were so much tampered with.

The “investigation” by the Warren Commission was obviously a

complete joke. However, all alternative investigations over the past

five decades were almost all also utterly wrong. The whole scene

was nothing else then a cover up for the fact that Jack Kennedy wasnot shot at, and he most certainly did not die that day.

Jack Kennedy was not the great man that both the mainstream media

and the alternative media want us to think that he was. Jack was just

as power-mad as his father Joe Sr. and all his brothers. More and

more people start to see the terror that was created by the Bush

family, to which two former USA presidents belong. I dare to say

that the Kennedy family is far more powerful then the Bush family.

Both George Bush Sr. and George Bush Jr. were just errand-boys of

the “powers that should not be”, and the very same is true for Barry

Soetoro, better known as Barack Hoessein Obama II, who was born

on August 4, 1961, in Mombasa, Kenya, and who later became

inaugurated as the 44th

Clearly, the similarities between the events of April 14, 1865, and

November 22, 1963, as shown in the above table (copied from page

318 of my book titled ‘Wholly Science – On understanding it all’),are to coincidental to be real coincidences. The only logical conclu-

sion is that the latter event was fully scripted in order to show off

about how much power the Kennedy empire had back in 1963.

Also Lee Harvey Oswald was an actor

Lee Harvey Oswald was born on October 18, 1939, as the son of

Robert Edward Lee Oswald and Marguerite Frances Claverie. He

became an officer of the USA marine, who later pretended to have

defected to the Soviet Union. In reality, he was a deep-cover agent ofthe Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In order to not blow his

cover, he married Marina Nikolayevna Prusakova in Russia on April

30, 1961. Ten months later, on February 15, 1962, their daughter

June Lee was born. In June of that year, 1962, Lee returned to theUSA, together with his wife Marina and their daughter June. They

settled in Dallas, Texas.

In April 1963, Lee approached a promising 19-years old science

student who dreamed of finding a cure for cancer. Her name was

Judyth Vary Baker, born on May 15, 1943. Although Lee was

married, he had several girl friends. Judyth knew this, and she also

knew that Lee was a deep-cover CIA agent. After recruiting Judyth

as an asset, she got involved in the development of a biological

weapon that Lee was to smuggle into Cuba in order to eliminate

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz (born on Augustus 13, 1926), betterknown as Fidel Castro. This plan to assassinate this Cuban leader

was never carried out.

The next CIA assignment for Lee was to pretend that he was the

alleged lone-man shooter of JFK. This assignment came after Lee

The name of the alleged shooter of Lee was Jacob Leon Rubenstein,

born on March 25, 1911, in Chicago, Illinois. Also the shooting of

Lee by Jack Ruby was a film production. The video recording was

intended to be convincing enough for the public, so that no further

questions would be asked. In reality, Lee was rewarded with a newidentity. The story did not ended that well for Jack Ruby, as he died

in prison, the three years later, on January 3, 1967, at the age of 55

years. Maybe there was a risk that he would talk, as he was probably

injected with a deadly disease.

Faking the RFK Assassination

Just like the assassination of his brother John Fitzgerald Kennedy

(JFK), also the assassination of Robert Francis Kennedy (RFK) was

fake. Bobby Kennedy was 42 years old and a USA senator when he

exited the public domain and submerged into the headquarters of the

hidden Kennedy empire on June 6, 1968.

The alleged shooter of Bobby Kennedy was the a 24-years old

Palestinian of Jordanian citizenship, named Sirhan Bishara Sirhan,

4. Numerological Analysis

Make sure that you at least understand the basics of Numerology

before reading this section. You can do that by for instance read the

sixth chapter of ‘Wholly Science – On understanding it all’, availablevia the websites of WhollyScience.org and Pateo.nl.

We already saw that the submerge date of Bobby Kennedy, which

was June 6, 1968, had a numerological value of 6 6 6. Bobby was 42

years old when he went to the hidden world, as stated above. The

numerological value of 42 also equals (4+2=) 6.

Similarly, the submerge date of Jack Kennedy was also carefully

picked. The numerological value of November 22 is 11 22 (both are

so-called master numbers), while the numerological value of 1963

equals (1+9+6+3=19; 1+9=10; 1+0=) 1. Jack was 46 years old when

he went to the hidden world. The numerological value of 46 also

equals (4+6=10; 1+0=) 1. This numerological value of 1 of both that

year (1963) and of his age at that moment (46) is meant to say that

Jack became the new number 1. Similarly, his son John Kennedy

submerged in the year 1999, which also has a numerological value of

In Pythagorean Gematria, every letter of the alphabet corresponds to

a numerological value. When we apply Pythagorean Gematria to the

name ‘Kennedy’, the resulting numerological value is (2 (k) + 5 (e) +

5 (n) + 5 (n) + 5 (e) + 4 (d) + 7 (y) =) 33. Adding up the numero-

logical values of 22 and November (11) also results in (22+11=) 33.

Next, the numerological values according to Pythagorean Gematria

of the following names all equal 1: Joe Kennedy Sr., Joe Kennedy

5. Jack Kennedy’s Press SpeechMany alternate researchers draw wrong conclusions from just a small

part of the speech that Jack Kennedy gave to newspaper publishers

on April 27, 1961, in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Especially those researchers, I recommend to read below the

transcript of his full speech (which I edited just a little for reading sake):

Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, I appreciate very much yourgenerous invitation to be here tonight.

You bear heavy responsibilities these days and an article I readsome time ago reminded me of how particularly heavily the burdensof present day events bear upon your profession.

You may remember that in 1851 the New York Herald Tribuneunder the sponsorship and publishing of Horace Greeley, employedas its London correspondent an obscure journalist by the name ofKarl Marx.

We are told that foreign correspondent Marx, stone broke, andwith a family ill and undernourished, constantly appealed to Greeley

and managing editor Charles Dana for an increase in his munificentsalary of $5 per installment, a salary which he and Friedrich Engelsungratefully labeled as the “lousiest petty bourgeois cheating”. But when all his financial appeals were refused, Marx looked

around for other means of livelihood and fame, eventuallyterminating his relationship with the Tribune and devoting his talents full time to the cause that would bequeath the world the seeds of Leninism, Stalinism, revolution and the cold war.

If only this capitalistic New York newspaper had treated him morekindly; if only Marx had remained a foreign correspondent, historymight have been different. And I hope all publishers will bear thislesson in mind the next time they receive a poverty-stricken appeal for a small increase in the expense account from an obscurenewspaper man.

worded “The President Versus the Press”. But those are not mysentiments tonight. It is true, however, that when a well-known diplomat from another

country demanded recently that our State Department repudiate

certain newspaper attacks on his colleague, it was unnecessary forus to reply that this Administration was not responsible for the press, for the press had already made it clear that it was not responsible forthis Administration. Nevertheless, my purpose here tonight is not to deliver the usual

assault on the so-called one party press. On the contrary, in recentmonths I have rarely heard any complaints about political bias in the press except from a few Republicans. Nor is it my purpose tonight todiscuss or defend the televising of Presidential press conferences. Ithink it is highly beneficial to have some 20,000,000 USA nationalsregularly sit in on these conferences to observe, if I may say so, theincisive, the intelligent and the courteous qualities displayed by yourWashington correspondents. Nor, finally, are these remarks intended to examine the proper

degree of privacy which the press should allow to any President and

his family. If in the last few months your White House reporters and photographers have been attending church services with regularity,that has surely done them no harm.

On the other hand, I realize that your staff and wire service photographers may be complaining that they do not enjoy the samegreen privileges at the local golf courses that they once did. It is true that my predecessor did not object as I do to pictures of

one’s golfing skill in action. But neither on the other hand did heever been a Secret Service man.

My topic tonight is a more sober one of concern to publishers as wellas editors. I want to talk about our common responsibilities in the face of a common danger. The events of recent weeks may havehelped to illuminate that challenge for some; but the dimensions ofits threat have loomed large on the horizon for many years.

living with it – there is no escaping either the gravity or the totalityof its challenge to our survival and to our security – a challenge thatconfronts us in unaccustomed ways in every sphere of humanactivity.

This deadly challenge imposes upon our society two requirementsof direct concern both to the press and to the President – tworequirements that may seem almost contradictory in tone, but whichmust be reconciled and fulfilled if we are to meet this national peril. Irefer, first, to the need for a far greater public information; and,second, to the need for far greater official secrecy.

The very word “secrecy” is repugnant in a free and open society;

and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secretsocieties, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided longago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justifyit. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closedsociety by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there islittle value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions donot survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announcedneed for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious toexpand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship andconcealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is inmy control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank ishigh or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words heretonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover upour mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts

they deserve to know. But I do ask every publisher, every editor, and every newsman in

the nation to reexamine his own standards, and to recognize thenature of our country's peril. In time of war, the government and the press have customarily joined in an effort based largely on self-discipline, to prevent unauthorized disclosures to the enemy. In timeof “clear and present danger”, the courts have held that even the privileged rights of the First Amendment must yield to the public’s

need for national security.

Today no war has been declared – and however fierce the strugglemay be, it may never be declared in the traditional fashion. Our wayof life is under attack. Those who make themselves our enemy areadvancing around the globe. The survival of our friends is in danger.

And yet no war has been declared, no borders have been crossed bymarching troops, no missiles have been fired. If the press is awaiting a declaration of war before it imposes the

self-discipline of combat conditions, then I can only say that no warever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of “clear and present danger”, then I can only say that thedanger has never been more clear and its presence has never beenmore imminent. It requires a change in outlook, a change in tactics, a change in

missions – by the government, by the people, by every businessmanor labor leader, and by every newspaper. For we are opposedaround the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence – oninfiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, onintimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of

armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human andmaterial resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficientmachine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic,scientific, and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are

buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. Noexpenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no

democracy would ever hope or wish to match. Nevertheless, every democracy recognizes the necessary restraints

of national security – and the question remains whether thoserestraints need to be more strictly observed if we are to oppose thiskind of attack as well as outright invasion.

For the facts of the matter are that this nation’s foes have openlyboasted of acquiring through our newspapers information theywould otherwise hire agents to acquire through theft, bribery orespionage; that details of this nation’s covert preparations to counter

the enemy’s covert operations have been available to everynewspaper reader, friend and foe alike; that the size, the strength,the location and the nature of our forces and weapons, and our plansand strategy for their use, have all been pinpointed in the press and

other news media to a degree sufficient to satisfy any foreign power;and that, in at least in one case, the publication of details concerninga secret mechanism whereby satellites were followed required itsalteration at the expense of considerable time and money.

The newspapers which printed these stories were loyal, patriotic,responsible, and well-meaning. Had we been engaged in openwarfare, they undoubtedly would not have published such items. Butin the absence of open warfare, they recognized only the tests of journalism, and not the tests of national security. And my questiontonight is whether additional tests should not now be adopted.

The question is for you alone to answer. No public official shouldanswer it for you. No governmental plan should impose its restraintsagainst your will. But I would be failing in my duty to the nation, inconsidering all of the responsibilities that we now bear and all of themeans at hand to meet those responsibilities, if I did not commend

this problem to your attention, and urge its thoughtful consideration.On many earlier occasions, I have said – and your newspapershave constantly said – that these are times that appeal to everycitizen’s sense of sacrifice and self-discipline. They call out to everycitizen to weigh his rights and comforts against his obligations to thecommon good. I cannot now believe that those citizens who serve inthe newspaper business consider themselves exempt from thatappeal.

I have no intention of establishing a new Office of War Informationto govern the flow of news. I am not suggesting any new forms ofcensorship, or any new types of security classifications. I have noeasy answer to the dilemma that I have posed, and would not seek toimpose it if I had one. But I am asking the members of the newspaper profession and the industry in this country to reexamine their ownresponsibilities, to consider the degree and the nature of the presentdanger, and to heed the duty of self-restraint which that dangerimposes upon us all.

Every newspaper now asks itself, with respect to every story: “Is itnews?” All I suggest is that you add the question: “Is it in theinterest of the national security?” And I hope that every group in theUSA – unions and businessmen and public officials at every level –

will ask the same question of their endeavors, and subject theiractions to the same exacting tests. And should the press of the USA consider and recommend the

voluntary assumption of specific new steps or machinery, I canassure you that we will cooperate whole-heartedly with thoserecommendations.

Perhaps there will be no recommendations. Perhaps there is noanswer to the dilemma faced by a free and open society in a cold andsecret war. In times of peace, any discussion of this subject, and anyaction that results, are both painful and without precedent. But this isa time of peace and peril which knows no precedent in history.

It is the unprecedented nature of this challenge that also gives rise to your second obligation – an obligation which I share. And that is ourobligation to inform and alert the people of the USA – to makecertain that they possess all the facts that they need, and understandthem as well – the perils, the prospects, the purposes of our program,and the choices that we face. No President should fear public scrutiny of his program. For from

that scrutiny comes understanding; and from that understandingcomes support or opposition. And both are necessary. I am notasking your newspapers to support the Administration, but I amasking your help in the tremendous task of informing and alerting the

people of the USA. For I have complete confidence in the responseand dedication of our citizens whenever they are fully informed. I not only could not stifle controversy among your readers – I

welcome it. This Administration intends to be candid about itserrors; for as a wise man once said: “An error does not become amistake until you refuse to correct it”. We intend to accept fullresponsibility for our errors; and we expect you to point them outwhen we miss them.

Without debate, without criticism, no Administration and nocountry can succeed – and no republic can survive. That is why the Athenian lawmaker Solon decreed it a crime for any citizen to shrink from controversy. And that is why our press was protected by the

First Amendment – the only business in the USA specifically protected by the Constitution – not primarily to amuse and entertain,not to emphasize the trivial and the sentimental, not to simply “givethe public what it wants” – but to inform, to arouse, to reflect, tostate our dangers and our opportunities, to indicate our crises andour choices, to lead, mold, educate, and sometimes even anger publicopinion.

This means greater coverage and analysis of international news – for it is no longer far away and foreign but close at hand and local. It means greater attention to improved understanding of the news aswell as improved transmission. And it means, finally, thatgovernment at all levels, must meet its obligation to provide you withthe fullest possible information outside the narrowest limits ofnational security – and we intend to do it.

It was early in the Seventeenth Century that Francis Bacon remarkedon three recent inventions already transforming the world: thecompass, gunpowder, and the printing press. Now the links betweenthe nations first forged by the compass have made us all citizens ofthe world, the hopes and threats of one becoming the hopes andthreats of us all. In that one world’s efforts to live together, theevolution of gunpowder to its ultimate limit has warned mankind ofthe terrible consequences of failure.

And so it is to the printing press – to the recorder of man’s deeds,the keeper of his conscience, the courier of his news – that we look for strength and assistance, confident that with your help man will bewhat he was born to be: free and independent.

Perhaps you might think that Jack was referring here to the threat of

communism, or that he tried to warn for a shadow government. My

take is that he, in between the lines, asked the press, to keep the

Kennedy empire hidden. What do you think?
