Entropy

• Energy flows spontaneously from a hot region to a cold region until the temperature of the two regions becomes equal.

• Also the entropy of a closed system, such as the universe, is always positive

Heat Death??

• A finite universe may be subject to the Laws of Thermodynamics.

• It has been speculated that the universe is fated to a heat death.

• Complicating factors make predictions of large-scale thermodynamics extremely difficult.
