Summary
Getting married is one of the most important things in our life. In the United States, people follow several traditions called “Something old, something new, something borrowed , something blue.” Something old means a stuff (ex: Grandma’s wedding dress ) from brides’ family and it represents a connection with
their past and family. Something new symbolizes the joy of the brides’ future life. And the subject we called “something borrowed” is usually borrowed from their close friends or family members. Which means “whenever the brides need a hand, they’ll always stand by their sides. “Loyalty” and “faithfulness” both play an important role in the marriage. So we use
something blue (ex: the garter on the brides’
leg) to stand for them.
Everyone knows that the prettiest woman
in the wedding ceremony must be the bride
herself……
Reflection
After reading this essay, we realize that
there’re many special wedding traditions in
the culture of America. If I were other’s bride
someday, I would probably follow the cute
traditions as well.
I like “something borrowed” and “something
old” the most. Being a human, you cannot live
without friends, and a true friend is someone who
always will be there by your side. Once you need her or him. As soon as you see the stuff which is connective with your friend , you’ll be relieved just because it reminds you that “you won’t be alone!” Family is just like a castle that you can relax and get some comforts. Others would never care about you as much as your own family do. Things which can remind us
that we will always be relative with our past
and our family tell us “everything is just the
same except you’re a man’s wife now……”
