PANY, LIMITED and Sonpo 24 Insurance Company Limited are responsible for direct sales. In addition, Sompo Japan Nipponkoa

DC Securities Inc. provides defined contribution pension fund management services, and Sompo Risk Management Inc. pro-

vides risk solution services and handles the cybersecurity business.

Safe Driving Support System for Companies—Smiling Road

We offer a telematics-enabled service that supports safe driving using a

dedicated driving monitor. The service reduces accidents, with the cumu-

lative number of accidents at all companies using the service down

roughly 20%.

Insurance with Safe Driving Discounts

We have developed Japan’s first telematics-

enabled insurance. Customers can receive

discounts of up to 20% on premiums based on

the results of the driving examinations of our

smartphone app. We have been selling the new

insurance product since January 2018.

The Sompo Holdings Group has developed

its business through organic growth and

disciplined M&A. The group operates its

overseas business in 218 cities located in

30 countries and regions worldwide, in both

developed and emerging countries.

Evolve into a health support enterprise—The second founding—

Sompo International, the core company in the overseas insurance business, is a global specialty pro-

vider of commercial P&C insurance and reinsurance, currently comprised of the operations of legacy

Endurance (acquired in March 2017), Sompo America and SJNK Europe. This company, with high-

quality underwriting and risk management expertise in the commercial business, offers a wide range of commercial property, liability and

specialty insurance and reinsurance products on a global basis.

Sompo International’s operating platform across North America and Europe will lead the strategic expansion of Sompo’s overseas

commercial and retail business. In the retail business, we have established a new platform in Sompo International Holdings to facilitate

the integration of our overseas operations. This new platform will enable us to accelerate the growth of the overseas insurance business

by sharing underwriting, technology, and other expertise to fully leverage the Group’s resources.

The Launch of Our First Insurhealth Product

In April 2018, we launched a renewed family

income insurance product, which combines insur-

ance coverage and health support.

The insurance industry’s first “Get Healthy

Challenge!” program reduces the premiums of

customers whose health improves within a certain

period after enrollment. Moreover, the program

provides customers with a reimbursement of the

difference between the former and reduced premi-

ums dating back to the time of policy enrollment.

Development of the Health Service Brand

Linkx (pronounced “link cross”) is a health service brand that we launched

in September 2016.Our aim is to offer health-related apps and products

that not only pay out the insurance amount when the need arises but also

provide support for illness avoidance by building relationships with cus-

tomers throughout their lifetimes and helping customers maintain and

improve their health.

In July 2018, we merged our four nursing care service companies and relaunched them as Sompo Care Inc. Further, in April 2018

we introduced a Regional Headquarters System that divides Japan into four regions. This enables us to provide one-stop con-

sultation services in each region with respect to our full lineup of nursing care services, which encompasses everything from at-

We have established SOMPO Digital Lab in the world’s leading-edge technology hubs as a base for the creation of products

and services that use new digital technologies. As an addition to our two labs in Tokyo and Silicon Valley, we established a lab

in Israel in November 2017.

DRIVING! Safe Driving Support Service for Individuals

In January 2018, as a rider for automobile insurance, we introduced a service for

individuals that is based on telematics and driving recorders.

We help customers drive safely by using our differentiated capabilities as an insu

rance company to provide an extensive lineup of services that contributes to safety

and reassurance when customers are driving, when they are off the road, and if an

accident occurs.

Home Hazard MapsWe have developed unique hazard maps by combining the insurance payment data of

Sompo Japan Nipponkoa with the hazard maps issued by public institutions. We have

been providing these maps through agencies nationwide since April 2018.

We are endeavoring to further enhance the satisfaction of customers with respect

to their insurance policies by visualizing natural disaster risks in regions where cus-

tomers reside—such as the probability of earthquakes, envisioned inundation height

(water depth) during floods, and locations with a danger of landslides—and giving

customers a better understanding of natural disaster risks.

Participation in the Cybersecurity Business

The Sompo Holdings Group entered the cybersecurity business

in January 2018. We offer one-stop services for cybersecurity

measures that encompass risk assessments and preventive

measures through to compensation. These services are based

on an alliance with cybersecurity providers who offer advanced

services and the leading-edge technologies that are available

to the Group through SOMPO Digital Lab Tel Aviv’s local net-

work in Israel.

Launch of the SOMPO Dementia Support Program

In order to address various social issues surrounding dementia, Sompo

Holdings, Inc., launched “SOMPO Dementia Support Program” by aiming “to

build a society that strives to prevent dementia, and enables people to continue

living with dignity as individuals, even after being diagnosed with dementia”.

Since October 2018, Sompo Japan Nipponkoa has been marketing Oyako

No Chikara, an insurance product that enables people to avoid having to

resign from work to provide nursing care to aging parents. At the same time,

Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Himawari Life Insurance has been marketing Linkx

Egao Wo Mamoru Dementia Insurance, an insurance product which pays a

one-time insurance benefit when the insured is diagnosed with both mild

cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia. As an ancillary service to these

products, we are also providing the SOMPO Egao Club Dementia Support

Service, which supplies information of the measures to prevent a cognitive

impairment and services to support the delivery of appropriate care.
