"a new songbook, beautifully delivered: that's surely worth waiting 50 years for" The Arts Desk "These were songs of real beauty and sophistication, that surely deserve to join the Standards repertoire - arranged, played and sung with great passion and skill" London Jazz News Songbook is the exquisite playing and writing partnership between two-time Grammy award-winning jazz pianist/composer/arranger Alan Broadbent and stellar vocalist/lyricist Georgia Mancio. Alan is recognised as one of the world’s leading jazz artists with credits as impressively far-ranging as Charlie Haden, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Woody Herman, Johnny Mandel and Paul McCartney. Georgia has proved herself one of the UK’s most original, adventurous and multi-faceted new artists, with work including Bobby McFerrin, Ian Shaw, Sheila Jordan, Gwilym Simcock, Liane Carroll and her own international voice festival - ReVoice! Alan and Georgia first performed together in the UK in 2013 (including London Jazz Festival). Following an intense 9 month writing period they created their own original Songbook. Alan’s evocative melodies, sophisticated harmony and peerless arrangers’ ear find their perfect match in Georgia’s superbly crafted lyrics of both beauty and bite. Together with much acclaimed bassist Oli Hayhurst (Pharoah Sanders, Julian Siegel, Ray Gelato) and drummer Dave Ohm (Gregory Porter, Ian Shaw, Anthony Strong) they successfully toured the UK and Germany in Autumn 2015 and recorded the Songbook album.
