Just a reminder that as of August 25, 2021 masks arerequired in all common indoor areas of theSonghees Wellness center; including but not limitedto: lobby’s, stairwells, elevators, photocopiers, to andfrom your workspace (hallways), kitchens and anyother areas that may be deemed as “commonspace”
This is a requirement for all individuals enteringSWC (staff, council, community members, tenants,contractors etc., as it is a provincial mandate. Where masks are not required / can be safelyremoved: At your individual workstations, desks,tables etc. or in a socially distanced meeting wherephysical distancing can be achieved, and you feelcomfortable and safe to do so.
Please remember to be respectful of each other andchoices individuals are making if they feel safe toremove their mask or not when seated in a safesetting.

Songhees Housing Project UpdateJUNE & JULY 2021 - WORKSHOPS
Over 25 community members participated in the Juneand July 2021 community workshops held by theSonghees Housing Steering Committee and aconsultant team. These workshops gathered input andideas all parts of the project. Thank you to everyone whoparticipated in the community workshops about thishousing development!

Build places, spaces and housing is an opportunity for people to reconnectwith what wasn’t allowed for a long time. A big healing movement.
Emphasize safety for future residents on site, especially children and families.
Maintain enough parking for visitors both to the residential and commercialspaces and so Elders have easy access to the site.

Songhees is hosting a series of meetings to consult the community about land planning issues on Songhees reserve.
These meetings will discuss topics such as:
• Current CP Holder rights (e.g., Land Code, Zoning Bylaw)
• Land Ownership under Treaty
• Key Songhees development issues
• Future land use, density, parks, and streets

Role Description & Accountabilities
Treaty Office Clerk
Position Summary
The Treaty Office Clerk ensures smooth and efficient operation of the Nation’s Treaty office and works to create a welcoming space for community members to visit and engage in the Treaty process.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Community Engagement
Work with TTA communication team and the Treaty Negotiator to develop and implement an effective communication plan with own Nation. Ensure all community members remain informed on Treaty and are prepared for the ratification vote.
Attend various meetings to record minutes (working groups, Main Table, caucus, committee & community)
Transcribe full minutes from recordings of various treaty related meetings Attend all community Treaty meetings and take meeting minutes of key points, action items and
decisions. Distribute meeting minutes to the Operations Manager and others as requested. Provide members with updates on the Treaty process through various methods which may
include: producing Treaty office newsletters, conducting door-to-door visits, preparing mail-outs and hosting regular drop-in sessions at the Treaty Office.
Coordinate community Treaty meetings including: preparing and sending out invitations/notices to members, inviting members door-to-door or by phone, arranging food/refreshments, working with Negotiator to set the meeting agenda.
Maintain a logbook of all community engagement/consultation activities in a format prescribed by TTA.
Update and maintain the membership list, including extended family members. Handle all requests for information or refer request to the appropriate person if unable to assist. Act as an ambassador for the Treaty process and encourage community members to join the
Treaty conversation. Treaty Office Administration
Ensure the efficient operation of the Treaty Office - answer the phone, respond to inquiries and relay messages - review incoming mail and respond to/distribute accordingly - maintain an organized filing system - keep regular office hours Monday-Friday (including a regular evening opening to provide
access for community members who work during the day) - monitor and order supplies as needed - maintenance of office equipment

- ensure expense reports and other required forms are submitted to Main Office in a timely manner.
Carry out Treaty Office operations within the approved budget. Maintain a calendar of scheduled meetings and ensure appropriate representatives are notified
of meetings in advance and assist with travel arrangements when requested. Maintain petty cash/funds and forms pertaining to travel and honoraria. Maintain inventory log of ‘give-aways’ and gifts. Set up and arrange for food/refreshments for meetings held in the Treaty Office or when hosting
community members. Provide administrative support to the Treaty Negotiator. Provide financial and other information to the main office as requested. Work with and support the Treaty Clerks in the other Treaty offices. Attend Treaty Clerk
meetings that are scheduled from time to time. Provide back up support to other Treaty Offices as required for vacation/leave coverage.
Other related duties as assigned
Secondary Responsibilities and Accountabilities
From time to time, this position may provide support to own community outside of the primary responsibilities noted above. Within the hours of work designated to TTA, these secondary responsibilities will generally be completed only when primary responsibilities are complete or in special circumstances such as a significant community event.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Intermediate computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Well-developed office administration skills including filing and filing systems, operating office
equipment and technology, basic bookkeeping skills, cash handling. Basic knowledge of the BC Treaty process. Willingness to act as an ambassador of the TTA Treaty process with a desire to assist
community members learn about Treaty so they can make an informed vote. Good member service skills. Friendly, positive, responsive, professional and helpful. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships. Ability to take accurate and succinct meeting minutes. Able to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision as well as working within a
collaborative team framework. Well organized and proactive with strong time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Respect for TTA Member Nations’ culture and protocols.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Wellness Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Health and Social Services is responsible for the coordination and execution of a variety wellness programs in the community for the youth. This position is focused on ensuring the health and wellness of Songhees youth members through both increasing general awareness of health-related concerns as well as planning and implementing wellness programs and activities. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Valid driver's license. • Awareness of First Nations culture and experience working within First Nations communities • Awareness of the dynamics of active and ongoing addiction, family and domestic violence, grief, suicide,
depression, healing and recovery in youth • Excellent facilitation and communication skills • Demonstrated skills in report writing, statistical tracking and documentation • Ability to deal with crises • Computer proficiency in Microsoft applications and basic internet applications • Ability to work in a team environment • Familiar with program planning, development, and evaluation • Ability to occasionally work a flexible work schedule (evening workshops, groups) • Knowledge and experience working with relevant community services within Victoria Area • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work related activities
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• One or more of the following credentials: Health services diploma; Indigenous Family Support, Community Family & Child Studies, Social Work.
• 2 years of work experience in First Nations community health programming. • First aid certification (or willingness to obtain) • Food safe certification (or willingness to obtain) • Clean Criminal Record check
WORK CONDITIONS:
• Office and occasional travel to attend meetings or conferences. • Evening and weekend work as required. • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. • Occasional outdoor work.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Salish Sea Initiative Project Manager and the Lands Manager the Marine Environmental Biologist will provide expertise on a variety of projects including baseline data collection, and Environmental Monitoring. This role is a combination of fieldwork, compiling data and reporting, stewardship and community outreach, and teamwork while collaborating and supporting projects as outlined by the Salish Sea and Gorge/Colquitz Special Management Area Initiatives. The successful candidate will work as a member of our team fulfill existing and upcoming project obligations. This person will have incorporated a knowledge of aquatic technical expertise in the marine environment, excellent time management skills, and a deep understanding on different aspects of marine life, including the process of marine development, how organisms interact with one another and the ecosystem and how pollution may affect marine environments, and in addition strong client relationships skills. The person who accepts this role will be highly organized, with attention to detail, quality and project delivery, and is able to leverage their network of contacts. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in biology with a focus on Marine Environments
