Collecting core samples at a mining site with an 8140LS.

An 11-ft. SDT45 (sonic dual tube 4.5 in. OD) sample sheath is positioned for

sample extraction from the 8140LS. The sampler is coupled to the sonic

spindle with the SDT45 Spindle Connect Drive Head.

Understanding the operations of the sonic rig and providing fast and knowledgeable service is the goal of the Geoprobe® Service Team. This industry-leading service team works closely with the engineering design team to make sure repairs and

maintenance issues are handled correctly.

The 8150LS full-sized sonic rig fits inside a 40 ft. shipping container for convenient international transportation.

Get Success in the Fieldfrom Geoprobe® Engineering

The 8150LS full-sized rotary sonic rig with GV5 sonic head, adjustable control panel, and rod handling system.

An 8140LS is used to install five 4.0 in. dual phase recovery wells set adjacent to a sea wall which required the use of a 300-ton crane to lift and position the rotary sonic rig. A network of aboveground gas pipelines had to be cleared which dictated the need for the crane lift.

The adjustable swing-arm control panel has an intuitive layout that allows the operator to perform multiple tasks effortlessly. Speeds, feeds, and pumps can be precisely dialed in with the electronic controls. The control panel’s ability to swing freely from the rig lets the operator be in the position needed to help align a rod or to be at a comfortable distance away from a spinning drill string. An integrated Systems Display on the control panel provides real-time systems analysis and a suite of built-in diagnostic tools. Also included are system safeguards that protect the main engine and hydraulic components when important operational parameters are compromised. It’s all there to assist the rig operator.

One feature of the Geoprobe® sonic heads is their centerline sideshift function which moves the head to the side so you

can work the inside diameter of the rod without moving the foot or re-positioning the machine.

The GV5 sonic head (shown) on the 8150LS and the GV4 sonic heads on the 8140LS and

8140LC are designed, built and serviced by Team Geoprobe® at our Kansas manufacturing facility.

Geoprobe® engineers researched and tested heads for nearly ten years before introducing

the heads to the market.

The Geoprobe® sonic product line offers the widest array of bits and sampling systems available; from conventional telescoping soil coring to dual tube sampling or full face bits when a sample isn’t needed. Our tooling engineers are constantly improving and refining our sonic offerings.

Design It. Test It. Manufacture It.The Geoprobe® sonic product line offers you

the widest array of bits and sampling systems

available; from conventional telescoping soil

coring to dual tubing and face flushing bits for

rock coring. Our sonic tool joints are engineered

for ease of make-up and break-out with no galling

or deforming in the thread area. Field operators

report they can immediately tell the difference.
