• In order to upgrade the device software to the latest version the currentsoftware version in the device must be:

• 5SA.0.1-04-7.1.2-26.68.00 • 5SA.0.1-03-7.1.2-26.62.01

• If the software version is older than the above the user will need to upgrade more than once to become current.Example 1: This user would need to upgrade twice to get to the current version.Software in user device is: 5SA.0.1-02-7.1.2-26.55.03:• 1st upgrade: Current software prior to the update: 5SA.0.1-03-7.1.2-26.62.01• 2ND upgrade: New/latest device software is: 5SA.0.1-07-7.1.2-26.71.03

• The update can take up to 20 minutes to complete• The software update can be performed over the air using the following methods:

— UI: User Initiated Pull via device’s Settings Menu (About Phone > Software Update).— Software download and software installation is visible to the end user using this method.— SI: Network Initiated Push via DM Campaign

— Software download is Silent meaning it occurs in the background.— The update is not pushed to all devices at the same time. Target device selection is

random with the update reaching all units over a period of time.— DI: Device Initiated periodic check performed by the device based on preconfigured

device timer. The device must be powered on and connected to the network. First Check: 8 hr. after device activation Second Check – 30 days after activation Third Check – 180 days after activation Fourth Check – 365 days after activation

• By default the device can only do the update over Wi-Fi. Once the device is activateda change is pushed to the device to be able to perform the update over LTE and Wi-Fi.

• After performing the update launch the Linc PTT application to allow permissions and accept Terms and Conditions.

UI – User Initiated Pull1. Connect to Wi-Fi2. From the Phone’s Settings Menu go to About Phone > Software Update3. Select Check for Updates4. Select OK and wait for the software download to complete.5. Select Install and wait for the software installation to complete6. Select Ok7. Verify the new software version by going to Settings > About Phone Build Number. 8. Launch the Linc PTT applications and allow permissions and accept Terms of Use.

• If your device software does not meet the minimum requirement you may need to update your device software more than once to become current. Please contact Customer Solutions Center for further assistance.

• The update process can take up to 20 minutes.• The update requires 70MB of available storage• Wi-Fi connectivity is the preferred method please connect to Wi-Fi before beginning update.• You will not lose any personal information, content or phone customization settings after

upgrading the device software.• The battery must be at least 30% charged to complete the update• Phone service is interrupted during software installation, 911 calls cannot be made. The

software installation can be postponed up to 3 times every 4 hours. The installation will start automatically after 12 hours.

• Devices are selected randomly by the server to receive the update; not all devices will receive the update at the same time.

• To resume a software update due to battery level, between postpone intervals or from unexpected interruption, go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Updates.

• XP5 Console donor radios are excluded from the Push Campaign.

• I thought we could perform the update over LTE. Why do I receive the message “A software update is available for your device that requires Wi-Fi connectivity for download process to begin Connect to a Wi-Fi network to download”?

Out of the box, the device is defaulted to perform the update over Wi-Fi. In order to perform the update over LTE, a change must be pushed to the device. This change is pushed at the time of activation and can sometimes fail and must be resent. If you are unable to perform the update over LTE, please Contact Customer Solutions Center so the change can be pushed to the device.

• Why is the software download stuck at 0 or 100%?Several factors can slow down the software download process.• Poor Coverage• Slow data connection• DM Server congestionOnce the download is started the device will attempt to complete the update for 48 hours. If the update has not completed within 48 hours restart the update by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Updates. Or proceed to the workaround provided in Slide 12.

• Why does the device display a negative or incorrect number for the percent downloaded for example -1400%?

This is a bug that it is visual only, it does not impact the download progress.

• Will I lose any information if I clear Linc PTT Data?Yes, clearing data of the Linc PTT application will remove the recent call log/history.

• Do I need to clear data on any of the other Linc PTT applications (Cockpit, Linc Msg, Linc Map)?

No, Only the Linc PTT application should be cleared. There is no need to clear data of the other applications (Cockpit, Linc Msg, Linc Map). Clearing Data from Cockpit would result in the need to re-onboard.

• My customer has an XP5 Console Donor Radio can they still pull the software although they are excluded from the Push Campaign?

Yes, the Device Initiated pull and the User Initiated pull are still available.• Why am I seeing the message “Previous DM Session is working now, please try again later”

when I select check for updates?This message is displayed when the device is communicating with the DM server to perform an update. No action is required. If problem persists please proceed to workaround or Contact Customer Solutions Center for assistance at 1-800-406-0151.

“Previous DM Session is working now, please try again later. “This message indicates that the device is currently communicating with the DM server. No action required. If problem persists perform workaround below.

Workaround: 1. Go to Settings > Apps2. Press the Menu Key then select Show System3. Select Software Update, then select Storage4. Select Clear Data > Ok, then power cycle the device5. After power up, select close app to Sonim Scout pop up message.6. Go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Updates to

restart the software pull. (Refer to Slide 6 for screenshots).

When the device is set to Wi-Fi only and no Wi-Fi is connected. User should connect to Wi-Fi to proceed or contact Customer Solutions Center to set transport mode to LTE& Wi-Fi.
