STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

“Only the curious will learn and only the resolute overcome the obstacles to learning. The quest quotient has always excited me more than the intelligence quotient.”

If one were to ask my friends to describe me they would describe me as a very pleasant, diverse, active and intelligent woman. I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am a science student and a man with technical aptitude and an interest in management. I also have a passion for travelling and understanding different cultures of the world. All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work.

I have a short stint at Infosys Technologies Ltd. as a systems engineer. I foresee myself not only as an engineer but also as an individual who leads people by example, manages resources and time effectively and efficiently. Above all, I see myself to be a significant part of an organisation.

My engineering degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills. Being an engineer and working in the industry for small duration has enhanced my technical skills. The nature of business today is undergoing a transformation which demands constant innovation. Thus, to be successful in this field, a person needs to be highly motivated and ready to face challenges. He/she should be able to manage each and every resource such as people, money and resources and then, to utilise them for the growth of the business. Some of the other essential skills to possess are leadership quality, ability to motivate and work as part of a team, time management skills, ability to understand and solve problems and good communication skills. As innovation has become the differentiator, the manager needs to be quick at thinking and should be in touch with the market scenario, both at the national and global level. Keeping a track of the field, ongoing industry trends is a must.

Pursuing MBA will help me in taking managerial decisions and gain business acumen. My industrial experience will help correlating my technical aspects with managerial subjects for practical applications. Management study will help me to understand the relationship among the diverse concepts through organisational behaviour.

At Faculty of Management Studies, along with the enroute to my vision, I wish to hone my skills of leadership, perseverance and communication. I will gain experience in coping with pressures and dealing with the gravity of problems, in terms of complexity and importance. Above all, the highly intellect faculty and peer group from diverse background and wide exposure at FMS, will broaden my perspective and strengthen my foundation in the principles of management.
