SUPPORT FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIESEducating with Energy (Colombia)
The project aims to increase the professional skills and to give better work opportunities to over 5,000 young people from public schools in the poorest areas of Bogotá which are at greatest social risk. The initiative focuses on the promotion of interpersonal skills, such as team-working, leadership, direct communication, ethics and sustainable development. The first stage was launched by an inter-disciplinary team, consisting of psychologists, social assistants and teachers, who, after assessing the current state of the young people’s professional skills, established specific personal development plans to be followed through multi-disciplinary activities and group meetings. To ensure the success of the project 1,200 parents and 780 teachers have been trained and involved.

ACCESS TO ELECTRICITYPowering Education (Kenya)
The project has distributed over 1,100 solar lamps in 70 rural villages which are off grid, providing sustainable and safe electricity to over 5,500 people. Results show that studentswith a lamp spend around 17% more time studying on averageand families also saw their electricity bills fall by 10-15%.

SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITIESSan Juan de Marcona (Peru)
In the Nazca area the whole local fishing sector has been redesigned. The project includes training on safety in fishing, the installation of a solar plant to dry algae, the construction of a fish farm powered by a hybrid plant, the electrification by the community’s women of coastguard posts as well as training on marketing issues. It is the first structured case of measuring social impact through an SROI (Social Return on Investment) model.
