The SBA302-BT amplifier is perfect for soundbar projects. With 2 x 30 Watts of power, a variety of inputs, an IR sensor and remote, and even Dolby Digital decoding via HDMI ARC. The design of the amplifier has a separate back panel, control panel, and IR/LED panel allows total flexibility for custom soundbar designs.

2) Analog3.5mmInput– 3.5mminputissuitablefordirectconnectiontoaTV,projector,cellphone,etc.Unlikeoptical,AUXorheadphoneoutputsonTVsorprojectorsusuallyhavetheadvantageofvolumecontrolviatheTVorprojector’sremote.

CONTROL PANEL

1)PowerControl&Mute–Shortclickoncetoexitstandbymodeandenabletheamplifier.Onceoutofstandbymode,theLEDwilldisplayacolorcorrespondingtothecurrentinput.Shortclickoncetomutetheamplifier(theLEDwillturnpink).Longclick(3seconds)toenterstandbymode(LEDwillturnred).

2)BluetoothButton–ClickoncetoenterBluetoothmode.Holdtoenterpairingmode(LEDwillblinkblue).

3)InputSwitching–Clicktocyclethroughthevariousinputmodes.TheLEDwillchangetoindicatethecurrentmode(seecolorchartbelow).ThisbuttoncanalsobelongpressedtoenteranIRRemoteLearningmode,whichisdetailedinalatersection.

4)VolumeDown–Clickoncetoturndownthevolumebyonestep.Holdtocontinuallyturndownthevolume.TheLEDwillblinktoindicateavolumechange.IftheLEDdoesnotblink,thevolumehasreacheditsminimum.

5)VolumeUp–Clickoncetoturnupthevolumebyonestep.Holdtocontinuallyturndownthevolume.TheLEDwillblinktoindicateavolumechange.IftheLEDdoesnotblink,thevolumehasreacheditsminimum.

FRONT PANEL - IR SENSOR and LEDs

1)DolbyDigitalLED–IlluminateswhenconnectedviaHDMIARCtoaDolbyDigitalSource.IfconnectedviaHDMIandaudioplaysbutitdoesnotilluminate,thatmeansyouraudiosourceisnotsettoDolbyDigital.Seeyoursourcedevices’settingsmenutoenableDolbyDigital,ifsupported.

2)IRSensorTarget–TakesinputfromtheIRremotecontroltocontrolvariousfunctionsoftheamplifiersuchasvolume,sourceandpreset.

3)StatusLED–ThisLEDwillchangeaccordingtotheselectedinputandthepowerstatus.

Note: LEDs can be temporarily disabled for a better viewing experience by pressing the “LED” button on the IR Remote.

REMOTE

TheincludedIRremoteworksbypointingitatthesoundbaramplifier’sIRsensor(frontpanel)andpressingthebuttons.TheamplifiercanlearnhowtouseotherIRremotes,suchasyourTVremoteaswell.AguidefortheIRlearningfunctioncanbefoundonpage8.

1)PowerToggle–Presstotogglethesoundbarinandoutofstandby.TheLEDwillberedinstandbymode.

2)Mute–Pressoncetomute.TheLEDwillturnpurplewhenmuted.Mutecanbedisabledbypressingthemutebuttonagainorbypressingavolumebutton.

3)InputSwitching–Pressanyofthebuttonstochangethecurrentinputsource.

4)PresetSwitching–Seethenextsectionforadescriptionofthepresets.

5)VolumeControl–Pressoncetoturnup/downthevolumebyonestep.Holdtocontinuallyturnup/downthevolume.TheLEDwillblinktoindicateavolumechange.IftheLEDdoesnotblink,thevolumehasreacheditsminimum/maximum.

6)LEDToggle–TogglesthefrontpanelLEDsonoroffforabetterviewingexperience.

7)WirelessSubVolume–Controlthevolumeoftheconnectedwirelesssubwoofer(Notavailableatthistime).

PRESETSTheSBA302-BTamplifiercomeswith4pre-definedsoundpresets,whichareswitchableviatheincludedIRremote.Thereare2differentsetsofpre-sets,withatotalof4presets,ascanbeseenontheremote.Thepresetsthatsay“sub”inthemiddleareintendedtobeusedwithasubwoofer,andhaveahighpassfilterenabledforsmootherintegrationofthesoundbarwithasubwoofer.Thismeansthatthe“SUB”presetswillhaveLESSbass.The“Sub”EQpresetscanalsobeusefulforlisteningatnighttimetopreventbassfromthesoundbardisturbingsleepingneighborsorhouseholdmembers.Inordertointegrateasubwoofer,youmustsplittheinputsignalpriortothesoundbaramplifierandroutetheadditionalsignaltothesubwoofer. Note: If you purchased the SBA302-BT as part of a full soundbar speaker kit from Parts Express, your SBA302-BT will have additional EQ applied to it to make the kit sound its best. If you have purchased the SBA302-BT separately, the table below describes ALL of the EQ applied. The music preset provides a “flat” response

IR REMOTE LEARNINGTheSBA302-BTamplifiercanbetaughttoworkwithanyIRRemoteControl!Forexample,insteadofusingtheincludedIRRemote,youcanprogramtheamplifiertorespondtocommandsfromyourTVremoteoranyotherremoteyoumighthave.ThisisespeciallyusefulifyouareusinganopticalconnectionratherthananHDMIARCconnection.

Note: Only buttons present on the control panel will work with a new remote. Buttons such as presets and LED toggle cannot be learned, and the original remote that comes with the amplifier must be used.

STEPS 1) MakesurethatyourSBA302-BTamplifieristurnedonandoutofstandbymode(theLEDshouldnotbered),andyour

desiredremotehasbatterypowerandisfunctioningcorrectly.

2) Longpressthe (inputswitching)buttononyourcontrolpanelfor5seconds.After5seconds,theindicatorLEDonthefrontpanelwillstartblinking.

Note: If your input was previously set to Bluetooth, but you do not have a device paired to the amplifier, your LED would have already been blinking. If unsure, set your device to a different input mode (like aux, green LED) and repeat this step.

3) Pressanybuttononthesoundbar’scontrolpanelthatyouwouldliketolearn.TheindicatorLEDwillturnoff.4) WhilepointingyourIRremoteatthesoundbar,pressyourdesiredbuttonontheremote.TheindicatorLEDwillthen

blink3times,whichindicatesthatlearningwassuccessful.5) Youcannowtestyournewbutton.6) Repeatsteps2–5tolearnnewbuttons.

INSTALLATION GUIDECUTOUTSTheSBA302-BTwillrequire3cutoutstobemadeinyoursoundbar.

1) Thefirstisforthebackpanel,whichalsohousestheamplifiermodulethatcontainsalloftheinputs,outputs,andpowerconnections.Thiswillusuallygoonthebackofyoursoundbar.

2) Thenextcutoutneededisforthecontrolpanelfortheamplifier,whichwillhousevariouscontrolssuchaspowerswitching,inputswitching,andpresetcontrols.

3) Thelastcutoutwillbeforthefrontpanel,whichhousestheIRsensortargetandalsothestatusLEDs.

CONNECTIONSTheSBA302-BTisasimpleplugandplaydesign,andrequiresjustafewconnectionstobemade.Takecarewhenmakingconnectionorespeciallydisconnecting.Damagedcablesorconnectorscancauseissuesthatmaybedifficulttodiagnose.

1) FrontPanel–The6"7-pincablewillcomepre-attachedtothefrontpanel(housesthestatusLEDsandIRtarget).Theotherendneedsconnectedtothe7-pinheaderontheamplifierboard.

2) ControlPanel–The23"6-pincableforthecontrolpanelwillcomeinthepackofwiresthatyoualsouseforyourspeakerconnections.Plugoneendofthecableintothecontrolpanel,andtheotherendintothe6-pinheaderontheamplifierboard.

3) RightSpeaker–Usingoneofthe2-pincablesthatcomewiththeamplifierkit(22"red/blackwire),connectyourloudspeakerorcrossovercircuitfortherightchannelintotheheaderontheamplifierboard.

4) LeftSpeaker–Usingoneofthe2-pincablesthatcomewiththeamplifierkit(28"blue/blackwire),connectyourloudspeakerorcrossovercircuitfortheleftchannelintotheheaderontheamplifierboard.

TROUBLESHOOTINGQ)HDMIARCisnotworkingA)CheckthatyourHDMIcableisHDMIARCcompatible(version1.4orhigher).Ifunsure,anynewHDMIcablethatyou

purchaseshouldbecompatible.Ingeneral,onlyveryoldHDMIcablesarenotcompatible.

CheckthatyouhaveyourHDMIcablepluggedintotheHDMIportonyourTVlabeled“ARC”. CheckyourTV’sdocumentationforenablingARCifitisnotautomatic.

Q)IamusingHDMIARCandaudioisworking,butthesecondLEDisnotilluminatedtoindicateDolbyDigitaldecodingisoccurring.

A)ThisindicatesthatthedigitalaudiofromyourTVisbeingsentviaHDMIARCtoyoursoundbarcompletelyuncompressedalready,whichmeansdecoding/decompressingthesignalisnotnecessaryinthissetup.Ifdesired,thiscanusuallybechangedonyourTVbyspecificallyselectingDolbyDigitalinyourdigitalaudiooutputsettings(vssomethinglikePCMordirect),whichwillvarydependingonyourTV.

Q)Iamnotgettinganyoutput,ortheoutputisallnoisewhenusingopticalmode.A)First,checkthatyouraudioisworkingproperlyinanothermode,likeBluetoothoraux.Ifitisnot,re-followthe

installationguidetomakesureyourconnectionsarecorrect.

Inmostcases,aTVorothersourcedevicewillautomaticallyconfigureitselfproperlyforopticaloutputtotheSBA302-BT.Ifitisnotworking,findtheaudiosettingsofyourTVorothersource.Thereshouldbeanoptionto-changedigitalaudiooutputto2channelPCMaudioortoautodetect.Ifthisdoesnotsolveyourproblem,checkthatyouropticalcableisfreeofdamageandisconnectedproperly,andtryanewcable.IfyouareunsurewhichopticaloptiononyourTVtouse,feelfreetotryallofthemuntilitsoundsright.Youmightwanttoturndownthevolumeofyoursoundbarfirsttopreventanydamagefromunexpectedsoundsfromhavingthewrongsettings.

Q)Iamnotgettingsoundoutofoneorbothofmyattachedspeakers.A)Lookthroughthedirectionsfoundintheinstallationsectionofthismanual.Youwillneedtoensurethatallofthe

properconnectionsaremadetotheamplifieritself,andalsothatyourdrivers(speakers)areconnectedtothespeakerwirescomingfromtheamplifier.Otherwise,theissueislikelyfromyourinputsource.VerifythataudiofirstworksthroughtheAUXinput,byattachingacellphone,laptop,TVheadphonejack,etc.Ifthisinputworksbutothersdonot,itislikelyaproblemwithyoursourcedevice(wrongTVsettings,badoutputjack,etc).

Q)Myremoteisnotworking!A)Checkthatthebatteryisinstalledinthebottomofthecontroller.Ensurethatthefrontpanel(LEDandIRtargetpanel)

ispluggedintothecorrectportontheamplifier.MakesurethatyouarepointingtheremoteattheIRtargetandthattheIRtargetisnotobsctructed.Makesuretheamplifierisswitchedoninthebackandconnectedtopowerwiththeincludedpowersupply.
