All Mankind Rock/Pop

All Mankind have spent the last three years touring in Australia, the US & UK. During that time, they released two independent EPs. Songs from these releases made their way onto the airwaves and the track ‘Open Your Eyes’ was featured as the theme song

for Emmy Award-winning ABC TV (USA) show Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. In addition, ‘Hollywood Tonight’ has been heard regularly on MTV’s The Hills. The band has just finished recording and mixing their full-length album with Mike Crossey in Liverpool, England.

Bag Raiders Dance / Pop / Electro

Bag Raiders are the combined talents of Jack Glass and Chris Stracey. After dropping singles on Bang Gang 12”s and remixing the likes of Cut Copy, Midnight Juggernauts and Kid Sister, the two’s reputation grew internationally. When they released a little

ditty titled ‘Shooting Stars’ they reached every dangerous, dark and smoky corner of the world, making them a household name among in-the-know indie kids, the sweaty dance faithful and the DJs across the globe. A collection of thoughts, ideas and memories, Bag Raiders transcends typical dance and pop boundaries, showcasing the creativity of a band at the forefront of modern production. The album ticks the right boxes for fans new and old, coming correct with sing-a-long choruses, deep-breath anthems, blissful chill and pure dance floor energy. Chances are, if you’ve stumbled into a club, wobbled at a party, looked into the light at a festival or dawdled along the radio dial in the last 2 years, you’ve been inadvertently exposed to the Bag Raiders.

Dan Parsons Intelligent Pop Rock

Dan Parsons is a 23 year-old Brisbane based singer/songwriter who has a whole swag of intelligent pop/rock songs. His sophomore release Firestarter is a snapshot of someone who, after spending his high school years emulating 70s heroes on a reel to reel 8 track, leaves his bedroom and begins tumbling

through one blinding, visceral experience after another. His music could be compared to The Folk Implosion at times. The title track from his debut album won pop song of the year at The Q Song awards and heavy rotation on Triple J.

Deep Sea Arcade Indie

Deep Sea Arcade’s music is ‘Blue Velvet’ with ‘Clockwork Orange’ flashes. Led by vocalist Nic McKenzie and bassist Nick Weaver, the band combines their love of 60’s beat, surf and psychedelic pop with 80’s new wave, and 90’s indie. McKenzie spent his adolescent

years in London, engrossed in the world of Brit pop and trip hop. After relocating back to Sydney he met Nick Weaver at high school. They instantly bonded over shared influences, and experimented with every sort of sound in their bedroom DIY studio for several years before finding their perfect counterparts in drummer Carlos Adura and guitarists Simon Relf and Tim Chamberlain.

An indie/thrash/punk 2-piece from Brisbane, DZ DEATHRAYS create a blend of driving monster beats firing over an avalanche of guitar similar to the sound of a squadron of attacking Panzer tanks; their live show is a treat for all of the senses. Throughout their career

they have shared the stage with international acts including Crystal Castles, RATATAT, The View, Biffy Clyro, The Temper Trap, Midnight Juggernaughts, and The Grates. As well as selling out their own shows, DZ DEATHRAYS have also played on renowned local festival stages such as Big Day Out, Parklife, Field Day, Sunset Sounds and Playground Weekender.

The Holidays Indie

Formed in 2007, Sydney foursome The Holidays’ quickly made their mark on the Australian musical landscape. The release of two EP’s at opposite ends of 2008 saw them scoring Triple J rotation, sharing stages with The View, Jamie T and The Temper Trap,

and become regularly name-checked as one of the nation’s most promising new acts. The band’s debut album, Post Paradise, has categorically been worth the wait. Moonlight Hours hit # 1 on Triple J’s playlist earlier this year, while remixes by Jonathon Boulet and The Swiss have also attracted generous lashings of hyperbole in the blogosphere.

Since releasing their second EP, She’s So Hard in 2009, The Jezabels have supported Tegan & Sara, Katie Noonan and Josh Pyke, and performed as headliners in their own right (selling out shows nationally in

the process). The third and final release in a trilogy of EPs, Dark Storm’s five songs represent the band’s most confident outing to date – moody, mysterious and epic, yet buzzing with the quartet’s ever-present knack for an irresistible pop hook. An October ’10 tour of America and Canada was followed by a headlining trek across Australia, culminating with appearances on festivals such as Wave Rock Weekender, Peats Ridge and the Falls Festivals.

Little Red Indie Pop

Coming together in Melbourne five years ago, five very different musicians were united by a love for infectious hooks, taut rhythms and indelible melodies. Working with producer Scott Horscroft (The Temper Trap, The Presets, Silverchair), Little Red recorded ‘Midnight

Remember’. From the sly disco underpinnings of ‘Rock It’ - which has gone Platinum in Australia and scored Triple J Hottest 100’s #2 spot - to the winsome rock build of ‘Slow Motion’, and the heart-breakingly sparse ‘All Mine’, Midnight Remember shows Little Red totally unafraid to take their pure, irrepressible pop to new horizons.

Luluc Alternative Folk

With the release of their debut album, Dear Hamlyn, Luluc has become a quiet sensation. Since the release of Dear Hamlyn, Luluc have played major Australian & Canadian festivals and toured with Fleet Foxes, Jose Gonzalez

and Lucinda Williams. Relocating from Melbourne to Brooklyn in 2010, coincided with two songs, ‘I Found You’ and ‘One Day Soon’ being featured on Grey’s Anatomy. Zoë’s unique alto is central and provides a strikingly beautiful counterpoint to her nylon guitar. Exquisite melodies are accentuated by Steve’s close vocal harmony and guitar accompaniment. Together they create a rich and deeply affecting sound.

Our Mountain Religious/Grime

Religious and grime are the two words that are being used to describe the noise that Our Mountain are currently emitting. 2010 saw the band touring the UK with The Slits, playing The Great Escape and a plethora of UK and North American dates. Their debut album is as engaging as an evangelical car crash somewhere

between the fork in the road and the damn hairs on the back of your neck standing loud. ‘Wooden Hearts’ is the first single up, driven by the heartbeat of one string, the angelic saturation of enviable melody and fueled by the static pulses of sheer chaos.

PVT Electronic Rock

PVT’s first album, O Soundtrack My Heart is a seething instrumental mass of post-punk guitars, brutal drums and bass-heavy electronics. The follow up – Church With No Magic, sees a new vocal-lead direction, and arguably one of the most ambitious experimental

rock records to ever come out Australia. Church With No Magic builds upon the anthemic synth-driven instrumental movements for which PVT is renowned, along with the power of their visceral live shows. The release of the album coincides with a change to the band’s name, from Pivot to PVT. It’s a truly modern-sounding album that takes their music in directions both challenging and more accessible.

Seekae Electronica

Seekae formed in Sydney, Australia, in 2006 and first gained notoriety on Sydney’s live circuit for their own brand of 8-bit electronica. In 2008, they released their first full-length album, The Sound of Trees Falling on People. Seekae continue to compose every sound and song with

meticulous detail, incorporating elements of post-dub-step, post-rock, house and classical. Through a mix of live instrumentation and sequenced electronics they produce music that is simultaneously warm, intricate, and beat-driven. The group’s commitment to melodic compositions allows Seekae to create compelling live shows, as recognised at FBi Radio’s SMAC Awards where Seekae won Best Live Act.

The Touch Indie/Electro

The Touch, an Adelaide based 5 piece, initially made a name for themselves with their party inducing Dance-Punk sets around Adelaide in 2008. Since then the band has expanded their sound, adding ethereal vocal hooks, multi-layered washes of synth and

intricate guitar interplay whilst loosing none of their energetic delivery. They have played numerous high profile Australian festivals (Big Day Out, Parklife and One Movement) and supported bands like Phoenix, Ladyhawke, Darwin Deez and Miami Horror.
