The District NMI Council recommends that all churches set goals and keep records of how those goals are met in each of the above areas.

3. Give – Use church resources to make an impact on others outside the local congregation.

Children & Teen Mission Project"Global Clean Water"
Globally, one in three people don’t have access to safe drinking water; even more don’t have access to safely managed sanitation facilities or handwashing facilities. In fact, one of the leading causes of death for those living in poverty is illness as a result of waterborne disease or poor hygiene practices. Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects address these issues comprehensively. Together with local Nazarene churches, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries trains and equips community members to spread good WASH practices like using available resources to make handwashing stations.To address the critical need for clean water, local churches, Nazarene schools, and child development centers also become clean water hubs and often include boreholes—wells that pull safe, clean water from deep within the ground. In many areas, gathering water involves walking long distances, a task that often falls to women and girls. If clean water is closer and easier to obtain, women and girls have more time for self-help groups, education, and more.You can learn more about this project at ncm.org/wash. District Mission ActivityEach year the district NMI asks the local presidents to share what they have done over the last year on their reports. When these ideas are shared, it sparks others to adapt and think creatively within their own programs. Toward that end, here is a summary of what has been going on at the district level.COVID restrictions caused the spring missionary tour to end early but our district was faithful in supporting our speakers, the Daousts. Please continue to pray for their ministry, health, and safety as they spread the gospel.Convention, camp meeting, and Children's Rally cancellations meant that we could not gather together as we are used to doing. But our speakers provided updates via email and video, letting us know what is going on in their lives.Online methods of communication and giving have become more important. Our district NMI page on Facebook is being utilized more and offerings through Tithe.ly (https://tithe.ly/give?c=524215) are being utilized for both general giving and special projects.
Work & Witness trips to exotic places may not have been feasible; but that didn't stop our district from serving where needed. We sent a team to Louisiana to assist with clean up efforts and to minister to those impacted. More recently a team went to Kentucky to assist after the flooding there. When you see the trailer below on the road, you know our district is serving. As Jesus served His disciples, even to washing their feet, so we continue to look for ways to serve the needs we see before us.
And even COVID has been unable to stop our denomination as it continues to share the gospel. In February, 24 new missionaries were comissioned to "go into all the world". Our district is partnering with a new creative access area to assist with prayer support. More than ever there is evidence that God is firmly in control. It is up to us to take His light into our world, to be His hands and feet, where we are and where we are able to go.

Get Involved With Links• Write your Links missionaries and assure them of your prayers, asking for
personal requests.• Send remembrances for special days like birthdays, anniversaries, and
holidays. Remember surface mail takes quite a while to arrive in some locations, so plan accordingly.
• Children and youth find it especially meaningful to become personally acquainted with a missionary or a missionary's child. Encourage young people to send cards, small gifts, pictures, videos, and audio materials to your church's Links missionaries.
• Check the Unofficial Links Lists. Have your Links missionaries posted specific needs for their field with which you can help?
• See if your Links missionary can use Skype or Facetime and have a church chat.
Make an Impact - Locally and GloballyNMI focuses on five strategic areas where the local church can have maximum impact on missions in the Church of the Nazarene.
The first is PRAYER. NMI gathers believers together for prayer in the local church, linking us to our brothers and sisters in Christ across the globe.
The second is the WORLD EVANGELISM FUND, which fuels the Church of the Nazarene’s mission by combining gifts from each person and church to fund ministries everywhere.
Through the ALABASTER OFFERING, the third emphasis, ministries around the world receive funds to purchase property and buildings.
The fourth is to ENGAGE CHILDREN AND YOUTH through education and fostering calls to missions.
LINKS the last area of emphasis, strategically connects Nazarene missionaries and Nazarene churches through prayer, personal contact, and generous giving.
Kudjip Nazarene Hospital - Papua New GuineaKudjip Nazarene Hospital, located in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, is a mission hospital operated by the Church of the Nazarene and has been serving the people of PNG since 1967. In 2016 it became the only church-run hospital in Papua New Guinea to be officially recognized as a Provincial Referral Hospital!The hospital includes a college of nursing with the intent to help students know the love of God, help them to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior, and to apply the skills they learn through nursing care to the sick. The college also trains nurses to be lay pastors as well through a partnership with Melanesian Bible College, providing a certificate of Lay Ministry.The needs are great and we appreciate your prayers, encouragement, financial partnership, and those who can come work along side us in medicine or work and witness teams! Together we are the body of Christ touching these great needs, one person at a time.

Responsibilities: Brenda did many things on the field, some were her responsibility and others were simply necessary. She has been a teacher, treasurer, director, trainer, translator, and after retiring, a chaplain. She has always taken on what God needed.
Get to Know Brenda: Brenda does not remember a time when she didn’t want to be a missionary. A couple months after her 13th birthday, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. A call to serve is a call to prepare, so after high school she attended Trevecca Nazarene College where she studied to be an elementary teacher, skills she used teaching at Groveport Elementary School. She studied at NTS completing her Masters in Religious Education.Her first missionary assignment was to Haiti. While the language was Creole, the teaching and textbooks were in French requiring a couple years of language training. After Brenda’s first furlough, she had an opporunity to be part of the first team into Martinique. After a couple tours in Martinique, she returned home to care for her father. After God took that responsibility from her, He opened a door for her in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa. She remained there until her retirement.Brenda’s primary hobbies are reading and traveling when possible.Prayer Requests:• The salvation of her relatives and ministering to those who need to know Christ• Her health and God helping her to show His love to others• That with God’s help, she will not miss an opportunity to share the gospel with those
around her.
Stephen Phillips - AfricaEmail:
Birthday: Oct 6
Responsibilities: Stephen is the NMI and Mobilization Coordinator, working with local NMI presidents and individuals with a call to missions. Locally he is involved in urban ministry.Get to know Stephen: Stephen was born and raised in a pastoral family in Johannesburg, South Africa. Stephen experienced a call to cross cultural ministry while serving in Germany with youth discipleship. His call was confirmed while studying law through hosting groups of young people from Germany and South America, leading a team to Madagascar, and participating on a team to the Ukraine. Stephen’s law degree led to him being asked to assist the church in Africa respond to the issues of human trafficking.

Responsibilities: Eliezel and Tammy are coordinators for Work & Witness in Panama providing communications and coordination with teams willing to come from the states to serve in Panama. They host a variety of teams including construction, medical, music, pastoral, and children’s programs.Get to Know the Soto Family: A native of the Dominican Republic, Eliezel surrendered his life to God at the age of 13, asking God to use what little he had to His glory. He has served in missions in the DR, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and in Panama, since 2015 as a family. Raised in Michigan, Tammy worked as a Radiographer/CT Technologist for almost 14 years until, at a major crossroad in her life, she made the choice to obey God stepping out on faith to see where the Lord would lead her life with Eliezel.Their family is involved with the Puente Del Rey Church of The Nazarene. While their neighborhood is not large, their neighbors represent at least 13 countries. Teams that come to Panama will see Eliezel, however, Tammy is very involved working behind the scenes for the project and taking care of their family.Prayer Requests:• Their walk with God remains their first priority, their children will grow to love God, and
for God’s protection both spiritually and physically. That the Lord will continue to provide for their family and ministry.
• God will continue using them as an example to teach their brothers and sisters a sincere way of serving.
• Property for a house/base and a van for W&W team transportation.
Most recently Stephen has been serving in Dakar, Senegal working with youth discipleship, urban ministry, and social advocacy. However, as of the end of March, he is relocating to South Africa, to begin work from the regional offices in Johannesburg. There he will be working to help the church respond to missions and to walk along side those feeling a call to cross cultural ministry. He will also be involved in urban ministry within Johannesburg.Stephen has two brothers and a sister. His hobbies are swimming and scuba diving.Prayer Requests: • Work on a new gap year program, specifically that God would send the right people for
this program.• For the country of Senegal. Pray that God will continue to work through His people
there.

Distinguished Service Award (DSA)A DSA is given to those who have given exemplary service. Although the DSA is administered through NMI, they can be given to anyone serving in the church. The $125 submitted for each DSA is used to support Missionary Health Care.

CCK/School Pal-Pak CollectionCCK/SPP boxes collected in 2020 went in multiple directions with some going to Louisiana, as part of our emergency response, and the rest to the warehouse at Fawn Grove. A total of 854 boxes were delivered. The day the truck was loaded started rainy. However, from the time the truck arrived through loading, it was dry and not a single box got wet.
CCK and SPP boxes may be brought to camp meeting for storage in the new building. The fall collection and shipment drive will take place as usual (see dates on NMI-2). Regardless of when your boxes are collected, please include a sheet of paper attached to the outside listing your name, church, contact information and a brief inventory (# CCKs, # SPPs). Don't forget to provide funds for shipping (NMI-14 #2) and warehousing (NMI-14 #6).

Work & Witness ConferenceThis year's event will be virtual and is scheduled for September 29 through October 2. Keynote speakers are Jay and Teanna Sunberg, missionaries serving in the Eurasia region. Also hear from Dr. Chambo, Dr. Graves, Verne Ward, Lola Brickey, Stephen Sickel, and other denominational leaders.

Child SponsorshipNazarene Compassionate Ministries’ child sponsorship program focuses on holistic child development, encouraging children to grow in all areas of their lives: physical, intellectual, emotional, relational, and spiritual. At $30/month child sponsorship gives children the opportunity to:• Grow up healthy. Sponsored children receive supplemental nutrition, hygiene
education, and preventative health care.• Receive an education. A child’s sponsorship assists with school fees, uniforms,
books, supplies, and even transportation. Education gives a child opportunities for a brighter future.
• Gain confidence and social skills. Sponsored children gain confidence as they learn that they are capable and as they learn how to interact with others in a healthy way—equipping children to be agents of change in their communities.
• Develop spiritually. Sponsored children experience Christ-like love through the staff and volunteers at child development centers, and they have the opportunity to learn from the Bible and pray together.
• Build a relationship with a sponsor. Through letters, cards, and photos, sponsored children receive love, encouragement, and support from caring sponsors. This relationship gives children a sense of their value and hope for the future.

NMI Standards and GoalsThe District NMI recommends the following Standards and Goals:1. That each church follow NMI Top Five Areas of Impact:
• Prayer• World Evangelism Fund• Alabaster• Engaging Children & Youth• Links
2. That each church be a “MISSION PRIORITY ONE” Church and accept the challenge of the goals set by the Mission Statement of the General NMI Council:• Pray for missions• Disciple children/youth in missions• Give at least 5.5% to the World Evangelism Fund• Educate by:
○ Using multimedia mission resources and/or mission publications ○ Promoting NMI mission books ○ Participating in mission service projects or activities ○ Attending a service with a missionary speaker or mission emphasis
3. That each church strive to go beyond the “MISSION PRIORITY ONE” standard by:• Memorial Roll, D.S.A., Missionary Health Care Offering and/or Gifts from
the Heart• Cash LINKS assignment paid in full
4. That each church pray for, plan and promote the Adult, Teen and Children’s District projects.
5. That continued special interest be given to the ALABASTER, EASTER, THANKSGIVING and WORLD MISSION BROADCAST offerings.
6. That each church remember its adopted (Links) missionaries with cards, gifts and prayers.
7. That each church encourage and support anyone who expresses a call to missions and that the District NMI President is informed of their interest.
8. That each church encourage the congregation to become part of Work & Witness through prayer, the WW Club, and participation on a local or district Work & Witness team.
9. That each local council have several handbooks (available from the Nazarene Publishing House in hardcopy or e-book).
10. That each church fully support our missionaries by attendance and offerings when they are doing deputation in the churches. Make check payable to Global Treasury Services and give directly to the missionary.

NMI Finance CommitteeThe NMI Finance Committee recommends the following:1. That each church fully support our missionaries by attendance and offerings
when they come on deputation assignment. The following are recommended minimums based on the type of service.• Sunday AM Service ---------- $400• Sunday PM Service ---------- $250• Weekday Service ------------- $225• Faith Promise ------------------ $1,000The deputation check is made payable to Global Treasury Services and is given directly to the missionary, as the missionary must also keep record of deputation offerings received. (Exception: at zone rallies checks should be made payable to South Central Ohio District NMI and placed in the offering.)
2. That the following funds be sent to: District NMI Treasurer, Chris Powell, 8718 Jacksontown Road, Heath, OH 43056.• Children’s Project (unless brought to Children’s Rally)• Teens Project• Adult Project – WW Club• $2.50 per box of 6 Crisis Care Kits or box of 10 School Pal-Paks.
3. That the approved projects for 2021-2022 be as follows:• Children - $2,500 for "Global Clean Water" Project• Teen - $1,000 for "Global Clean Water" Project• Adult - $10,000 for District Work & Witness Project
4. That each church participate in a great offering for World Mission Broadcast.5. That each church give special emphasis to the Thanksgiving and Easter
