• Since most colleges will accept either SAT or ACT, it is recommended that students take both tests at least one time in spring of junior year.
• Sign up at www.collegeboard.com & www.act.org
• Preparation= higher scores.
• SAT consists of Math, Critical Reading & Writing
• ACT consists of English, Math, Reading & Science
plus an optional Writing section.

Why Take the PSAT?
• Prepares students for SAT—On average, students who take the PSAT/NMSQT score 145 points higher on SAT than those who don’t take the PSAT;
• Supports college and career planning—My College Quickstart provides an interactive score report, personalized SAT Study Plan with hundreds of questions, personality inventory, and personalized list of colleges;
• Provides entry into scholarship programs—National Merit Scholarships are awarded on PSAT scores from 11th grade ONLY;
• Provides information to colleges when you select “Yes” to question about Student Search Service.
