This past week, the South Pittsburg Pirates varsity football team competed in a matchup against the Sale Creek Panthers. This game was a slaughter. The Pirates came out to play, and play they did. In the first half alone, we saw amazing performances by Joseph Lilly, Cade Ken- nemore, and Dylan Mc- Queen to name just a few. With this game being one that was crucial to win, and since it was homecoming, the Pirates gave it everything they had against the Pan- thers. The Panthers strug- gled, but could not handle the pressure. During the game there was a delay when Sale Creek’s own Chase Burton was hurt in the first half. Burton suffered a compound fracture, and had to be es- corted off the field via am- bulance. By the end of the first half, the score was 42-0. As the game went on, the Pirates proved once again why they are a playoff contending team every year. Adding an- other 14 points to the board, left the Panthers with no chance to come back. The Panthers were giving it everything they had , and at least hold the Pirates, but that didn’t work either. An exciting night of football and homecoming ended with a final score of Pirates 56 to Panthers 0.
