Leaving behind the familiar environment of pre-school
and starting school is an exciting time in every child’s
life. Our school has a comprehensive transition
program to support students and families throughout
this journey.
During Term 4 we have a series of important events to
ensure students are familiar and comfortable with the
school and that parents have as much information as
possible. As well as the events I have listed below, I am
available for families to come to the school for a
personal tour and information session. These sessions
can be booked through the school office on 6566 6208.

Term Calendar
As always Term 4 is a very busy one with major
excursions, swimming scheme, Year 6 dinner and
presentation day on the calendar.
I have included a copy of the Term 4 calendar with this
bulletin with special events marked.
P&C meeting
Our next P&C meeting will be on Tuesday November 6.
All are most welcome to attend.
Life Education Van
Please note the Life Education Van will be visiting our
school from Monday October 29 until Friday November
2. Details of programs and payment for each grade are
listed in this bulletin and a separate note will be sent
home today.
P&C
Please note we have a number of fundraisers scheduled
for this term that will be of interest to both children and
adults. These events are outlined below.
Movie Night at South West Roxy Cinema
Coastline Credit Union has kindly purchased a movie
night on behalf of our school. We will offer tickets to the
movie for our student for $10 which includes a sausage
sandwich. Popcorn and drinks can also be purchased on
the night. We are waiting for a suitable movie and night
to become available. We will let you know the details as
soon as they come to hand.
Golf Day
When: Friday November 2
Where: South West Rocks Golf Course
Details: $25 per person includes sausage sandwich, drink
voucher and donation to the P&C. 3:30pm for 4pm 9
hole shotgun start. For bookings contact Shaun or Nat at
the Golf Pro Shop on 6566 6880.
Trivia Night for adults
Don’t miss this one!
When: Saturday December 1
Where: School hall
Details: Teams of 6-8 $15 per person. This will gain you
entry and a steak/sausage sandwich for dinner. No BYO
alcohol. Drinks to be purchased on the night. A fun
night and great prizes to be won.
Thank you
We would like to thank Coles South West Rocks again
for holding a cake stall with all money raised going to our
school. The cake stall they held before the holidays
raised $1040.

Life Education NSW will be visiting our school. From 29 October to 2 November 2018
Here's a brief outline of the range of programs in which the children will be participating:
My Body Matters Early Stage 1 (K) – Healthy food choices, importance of physical activity,
NEW! safety.
Ready, Steady, Go Stage 1 (Yr 1) - Body workings, safe use and storage of medicines, peer
New pressure and coping strategies, safety, decision making.
Growing Good Stage 1 (Yr 2) – Unsafe behaviours, situations and environments, healthy
Friends NEW! food choices.
Harold's Heroes Stage 1 (Yr 2) - Environmental health issues, emergency procedures,
individual needs for medicines and safe use and storage.
All Systems Go Stages 1 & 2 (Yrs 2-3) Function of body systems, peer pressure, second
hand smoking, safety with medicines.
Harold's Diary Stage 2 (Yr 3) - Friendship, resilience, expressing emotions, coping
strategies, healthy food choices, active lifestyles.
bCyberwise Stage 2 (Yrs 3&4) – Explores cybersafety through animation, vox pops of
NEW! children, relevant scenarios, discussion and problem solving.
Mind Your Stage 2 (Yr 4) - Safe and unsafe situations, medicines and consequence of
Medicine misuse, peer influence and friendship, positive communication.
On the Case Stage 3 (Yr 5) - Short and long term effects of smoking, effects of passive
New! smoking, laws, peer influence, and refusal skills.
Think Twice Stage 3 (Yr 6) - Consequences of alcohol use and misuse, stay safe
situations and refusal skills, laws controlling purchase and use.
It's Your Call Stage 3 (Yr 5 & 6) - Definition of legal drugs, decision making, emotions,
IMPROVED peer pressure, risk taking, problem solving, safe and appropriate use of
communication technology.
The programs address many of the components and objectives within the NSW PDHPE curriculum.
Teachers of composite classes will choose the program which best suits the needs of their children.

South West Rocks SLSC - Nippers Affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia
Parent Information Night will be held this
Thursday October 18 in the clubhouse from 7-
8pm - all new and returning families welcome.
Nippers starts this Sunday 21st October at 9am -
meet on the grass out the front of the surf club.
Haven't been to Nippers before?? Come and try
for the first two weeks, with membership (to
cover insurance costs) due on the third week.
Active Sports Voucher is available to be used for
membership payment.
