Molly Lyons, a 5' 20 yr-old fresh­man from Shreveport, Louisiana enjoys reading and watching sports. She is an English-Ed. ma­jor and lives in Harrod Hall.

Brenda Miles, a 20 yr-old sopho­more social work major from \1t . Holly, Arkansas likes to r ide horses and play basketball.

Now most of the students at SAU. particularly those of the male gender, know that one cannot purchase "pornographic" publications in Magnolia. But, if a person is willing to drive IO to 15 miles out of town these magazines can be bought. And from the abundance of PLAYBOY and PLAYGIRL magazines that circulate within the dorms it appears that many people feel like it's worth the drive to acquire this popular form of "read­ing" material.

Popular sections of these magazines include anicles on anato­my and do-it-self projects, not to mention the attractive mo­dels.

Just because someone enjoys reading these magazines does not label this person a voyeur (def. one who seeks sexual stimulation by visual means). Humans have a natural curiosity about themselves and others and some of the better quality pornographic publications can be informative to people who have problems or are confused about themselves.

Tennis The 1982 men's tennis team placed first in the Arkansas lntercol­..egiate Conference. Their conference record was seven wins no ;,sses. Their overall record was thirteen wins and six losses.

The season was a tough one. The Riders played against NCAA schools in the nonconference schedule.

:here were two seniors on the team. They were Johnny Vickers J:'d Jeff White. This means that next season will be a good one zs the Muleriders will only lost two members.

As for the women's team, they pla yed their best se ax"n in several years. They finished fourth in A WISA tou:Ma­ment pla y.

Softball

Riderette softball team started the season with a bang. · g eight straight games. The winning streak stopped at ay when they lost two games, one to an independent and the other to UAPB. Then, in a very abbreviated

• - .\ tournament at Pine Bluff, they fell twice more to end season with eight wins and four losses.

At the start of the season, UABB, UCA and Hard- ~~ supposed to be in A WISA. but dropped the sport and Hard was ruled ineligible, because they did not join A\'tlS.\, only SAU and UAPB.

The AWISA tournament was played at Pine Bluff, but dwindling number of teams, interest in the toum low.

Do ·a let anybody tell you that putting together a yearbook is e_as.. . because it's not. It involves skills in writing, photogra­:- !a out and public relations not to mention business.

·s why I tried to surround myself with a competent staff. ,r,.,..,...,,ht I d id a good job doing that. My staff was reliable,

George Henry was a great help with sports information. He :,r-o, ided a lot of the sports pictures and nearly all of the statistics and copy.

Terry Bentz and Rick Post took all the BRAY BOY pictures, and Teresa Cox did all the copy and layout for the BRAY BOY section. Terry Bentz has to be mentioned again. Without Terry, I would not have been able to finish this book. When I came to SAU, I only had skills in photography with no exper­ience. He taught me how to do layout and how to fit copy and generally how to put a book together.

In closing, I'd like to thank you, the student body, facult staff and the administration, for your cooperation, patients and faith. You made things a lot easier. You were fun to won with and easy to get along with. Thank you SAUi

I just hope we've covered it all and given you something to remember SAU. At your reunion, try to forget the book was late, and just sit back and re member the good times you had at SAU.

e didn' t have quite as many sports. There was football , oas etball and track. There was no sw im team and the wom­en had only basketball."

As far as vis iting hours were concerned, there were none. There was a curfew amd different hours for men than wom­en. The women were restricted considerably more than men. The had to be in at 10,30 p.m. on weekdays and I a.m. on

-weekends. The men could only go as far as the living rooms. It was unheard of for women to go to the men;s dorms. The women had to sign in and out. " I knew some that signed out and didn' t go home, they would go visit someone," Brinson remembers.

There was a spring fling type thing, but it wasn' t called "Spring Fling." There was lunch outside, a tug-of-war across the duck pond and some of the same games as now. There was a feud between the engineering and agriculture majors.

Dr. Brinson met his wife, Gene, at State A and M College, which was extremely important to him. "I developed a lot of good friendsh ips. The good friends I had then, I have now. I was impressed with the quality of young people that came to the campus, the way they worked and acted, and I still am. I was also impressed with the facult y. they were the best I had ever met. I still admire those that I knew while at A and M."

Dr. Harold T. Brinson is remaining at SAU after being a finalist for the position of president of Northwestern Louis i­ana University in Nachitoches. La. Dr. Brinson served his sixth year as president of Southern Arkansas University in the 1981-82 school year.
