SOV T60-18 Service operation vessel
The IHC SOV T60-18 is a state-of-the-art service operation vessel meeting the requirements of both the offshore wind, and oil and gas industries.
The company’s extensive experience in building highly integrated offshore vessels has been used to design this vessel. It features a fully integrated service operation package including one active heave compensated crane and one motion compensated gangway, which allow for safe support operations. In addition, sufficient covered deck space is available for a variety of workshops and equipment containers. Pinnacle of performanceIt isn’t just the technical aspects that are tailored and integrated for optimal performance. Special attention has been given to the comfort of the crew due to the nature of work carried out on the vessel.
In the design, careful consideration has been given to comfort and efficiency, so that the maintenance personnel can carry out their jobs to best effect. The engine room is in the aft to minimise noise and vibrations on board.
The routes from the equipment and tool storage areas to the CTV and access gang are mapped out for the efficient movement of personnel and equipment.
Hull designThe IHC hull lines have been developed over the past 15 years and have resulted in a series of successful offshore vessels. The hull is optimised using both CFD tools and model testing to accomplish low resistance during transit, while still having excellent sea- and station-keeping capabilities.
The operational performance has been further enhanced by applying a large bow flare angle. In addition, the deadrise angle of the stern frames has been increased to avoid stern slamming at low speed. All these improvements have resulted in a stable platform, with gentle motions and low acceleration at speed and on DP, and with maximised operational availability.

Innovative power generation conceptIHC’s new offshore vessels have been designed specifically for the mission with a focus on energy efficiency and power optimisation. This represents a change in the way a traditional DP vessel operates.
The power generation and management system is designed around an operational profile. This matches the normal work of the vessel and is not purely configured to satisfy rule requirements.
With a good understanding of the mission and design optimisation, emissions to air are minimised, lube oil consumption is reduced and engine servicing is almost halved. In addition, the base line vessel has the potential to save 40% of engine running hours annually, reducing servicing costs and consumables. Operational costs and CO2 emissions may also be reduced significantly by utilising the efficient points on the fuel map.
Interior designIHC has taken the experience of the crew and used this as the focus of the design, with the aim of creating an environment for the ultimate comfort of the crew. From the gym to the recreational area, and the galley to the private quarters, every part of the ship feels like home. The abundance of daylight, outdoor area space and modern furniture enhance the social interaction between crew members – boosting morale and team spirit.
Transparency and a clear routing were the focus for the layout of our new offshore vessel series to enhance safety. Different functional areas are separated and marked by colours and signage, while a central transparent staircase connects the decks to each other. A central transparent stair case connects all decks to each other in a unique way.
