MARCH, 2019 PARENT NEWSLETTER DMES Parents – This time last year, I sent a newsletter addressed “Future DMES Parents.” I told about how our children had just picked the Dalmatian as our mascot and how they’d selected our school colors. I described carpet going in and paint on the walls. It’s hard to believe that we are about to end our very first year! The new carpet may be showing the wear of a year’s worth of walking, but we still have the excitement I talked about a year ago. The school is just as beautiful as we hoped it would be, and our first year has been a great one. Our PBLs have been amazing! We should be very proud of what we’ve accomplished in just one year. As we again look ahead, a couple of things are on my mind. First, we are going to work with the Covey Institute to create DMES’s official mission and vision. We will invite students, parents, and faculty to describe their hopes for our children and school. Also on my mind is the academic success of DMES students. After this year, we will get our first “school report card,” and it will point towards the areas If you or someone you know in our attendance zone has a child that will be five years old on or before September 1, it is time to register for Five-Year Old Kindergarten! MARCH, 2019 PARENT NEWSLETTER

DMES Parents –

This time last year, I sent a newsletter addressed “Future DMES Parents.” I told about how our children had just picked the Dalmatian as our mascot and how they’d selected our school colors.

After this year, we will get our first “school report card,” and it will point towards the areas we most need to work on. We already know how important it is for children to be reading on grade level by 3rd grade, and this will continue to be an area of focus. We will track student learning with Earn Your Spots. My goal is for our children to be among the highest performing in our area. If this year’s success is any indication, we have good reason to believe we can meet that goal and more!

If you or someone you know in our attendance zone has a child that will be five years old on or before September 1, it is time to register for Five-Year Old Kindergarten!

IMPORTANT REMINDER

If you bring your child to school, you must drop them off in the car line between 7:00 – 7:45. After 7:45, you may bring them to the front of the school, but you must walk in with them to sign in. This is very important for student safety.

THANK YOU!
