WELCOME VISITORS!! Thank You For Coming Today!!
Dearest Bell Avenue… well, well, it’s the first Sunday in May and the snow has melt-ed! Remember! It CAN snow in May! The forecast for today is 85 degrees! We ARE supposed to have some wind but we
can tolerate that very easily as we are very familiar with it. I remember hearing a weather forecast for somewhere on the East coast and it included a “Wind Warning” with gusts up to 20 miles per hour?!?! That’s NOT a gust! For us here in the Texas Panhandle, that’s a gentle breeze!! Rain or shine, hot or cold… it is ALWAYS pleasant here in our comfortable Church Building! I’m glad that you are here today! It is always a joy to come here to worship our Almighty God! We are blessed to have this opportunity and privilege to come here and know that we can worship without any threats or any opposition! I was saddened by the Snow Storm that hindered our attendance on our Annual Friend Day last Lord’s Day… however… it was a Great meal and we DID have several visitors (some of which I know had never been in our build-ing)… so… that was a good thing! THANK YOU to all who brought food and invited folks to come!! Your efforts are greatly appreciated! Stephen did a great job preaching; and Doug did a fine job leading the singing! It was a good day! Today, the lesson is about True Worship! Let’s all focus our hearts and minds on worshipping God!
I love you each one and I am thrilled to be with you! Dean
Sermon Outline
TRUE WORSHIP
John 4:21-24
Introduction: Today there is much focus on worship in the Lord’s church. How are we supposed to worship God? Is there more than one way (contemporary and traditional)?
1. IF THERE IS A RIGHT WAY TO WORSHIP, THERE MUST BE A WRONG WAY TO WORSHIP GOD… The Wrong Way (Vain Worship)… Lev. 10:1-2 1Cor. 4:6 2John 9-11 Matt. 15:9 Gen. 6:22; 7:5 Matt. 7:21 – If We Are Not Worshiping Properly, We Are Taking His Name In Vain… Ex. 20:7
2. OUR WORSHIP MUST BE DONE IN SPIRIT (RIGHT AT-
TITUDE)… Notice Some Biblical Examples Of A Proper Atti-tude Towards God… Moses-Ex. 3:5 Joshua- Josh. 5:15 Da-vid- Ps. 33:8 Ps. 89:7 Ps. 95:6 Ps. 111:9 Ps. 122:1 Hab. 2:20 Is. 8:13 Matt. 6:9 Heb. 12:28 Rev. 4:8-11
He Is The Central Point In Our Worship.
We Should Feel This Way About Him Because Of What He Did For Us
On The Cross 3. OUR WORSHIP MUST BE DONE IN TRUTH… Truth
Came Through Christ – John 1:17 … God Must Be The Focal Point Of Our Worship… Matt. 4:10 Deut. 10:20 Acts 10:25-
26 – Peter and Cornelius … Acts 12:20-24 – Herod’s death … We Must Worship According To What God Tells Us To Do:
1. Pray – Acts 2:46 2. Lord’s Supper – Acts 20:7 3. Giving – I Cor. 16:1-2 4. Singing – Col. 3:16 5. Teaching – II Tim. 4:2
CONCLUSION:
We search the scriptures to see if we are worshiping in truth. We search our hearts to see if we are worshiping in Spirit.
