Advanced Modular Cooling System(AMOCS) utilizes an exclusive two-passcooling system and increased coolingsurface area to provide significantlymore cooling capacity thanconventional systems.

Servicing of the AMOCS can beperformed without tilting the radiatorguard.

Cooling SystemSuperior cooling in the most demanding work conditions.

Two-pass cooling system circulatescoolant from the sectioned bottom tank(1), up through one side of the coolingelement (2), and down through the otherside (3), returning it to the bottom of thetank.

The cooling elements are individualcore modules that are connected toa sectioned bottom tank. There is no toptank to remove.

Clear working view. Angled seat,tapered hood and “notched” fuel tankgive the operator a clear line of sight tothe front and rear work areas. Largesingle-pane door windows allow theoperator to see close-in to each sidewithout leaning.

Comfortable, non-tiring operation. The isolation-mounted cab reducesnoise and vibration, maintaining aninternal sound level under 82 dB(A).A powerful heater/air conditionerincreases operator comfort. The cab isprewired for a 12-volt or 24-volt radio,and equipped with two speakers,antenna and radio mount recessed inthe headliner.

The Vital Information Display System(VIDS) provides the operator withcontinuous feedback on machine andsystem operation, and includes threelevels of operator alert.

The reliable, easy-to-read monitoringsystem also records performance datafor assistance in diagnosis and fasttroubleshooting.

The system consists of three displaymodules:

1 Gauge cluster module consists offour electronically driven analoggauges which display enginecoolant temperature, transmissionoil temperature, hydraulic oiltemperature and fuel level.

2 Speedometer/tachometer moduleincludes an analog tachometer,ground speed and gear/directionreadouts.

3 Message center module providesa variety of component and systeminformation through a universalanalog gauge and a digital messagereadout display. The switchablemessage center allows the operatorto access information on severalmachine functions through theuniversal gauge, while digitallydisplaying the function name, statusand related instructions to theoperator.

The alert indicator lamp is also locatedon the message center. It is activated bythe main system module and flashes toindicate a serious or critical abnormalcondition.

An alert alarm is activated by the mainmodule to sound when a criticalabnormal condition exists.

The keypad allows access to diagnosticdata recorded in the main monitoringsystem module and a menu systemwhich can tailor machine performanceto an individual operator.

Examples of system information are:

■ Engine oil pressure, engine boostpressure

■ Power train oil temperature

■ Main hydraulic pump pressure, bladeheight

In standard operation the first line ofinformation in the message center isstatus and the second line ofinformation is a selected gaugeparameter.

Keypad allows the operator to accessand acknowledge machine and systeminformation provided by VIDS, activateautomatic dozer functions, access gaugevalues, customize factory settings andchange operator preferences on themessage center module.

The easy-to use keypad works inconjunction with VIDS, allowing theoperator to view details from alertmessages for assistance in diagnosisand fast troubleshooting.

The keypad consists of eight active keysthat enable the operator to perform thefollowing functions:

1 Auto pitch key activates auto pitchfunction with “on” and “off” toggleswitch and lights up indicator onpanel when enabled.

2 Float key activates float functionwith “on” and “off” toggle switchand lights up indicator on panelwhen enabled.

3 Gauge key accesses message centergauge analog parameter values.

4 Set pitch key changes preset bladepitch angle for load, carry anddump segments of dozing cycle inconjunction with auto pitchfunction.

5 Set height key changes preset bladeheight position for return cycle inconjunction with auto pitchfunction.

6 Machine set key changes presetdozer control response to eitherstandard, fine or fast.

7 Menu key changes message centerpreferences, views acknowledgedand logged machine events,accesses current machine stats,shows dozer attachment options,views test display and calibratesgauges.

8 Setup key customizes settings forup to nine permanent operator IDaccounts, saves shift settings,recalls setup and clears changes.

The keypad also contains several utilitykeys used in conjunction with thefunction keys:

■ OK key allows the operator to accepta text prompt or menu choice — theequivalent of answering YES toa question. It is also used toacknowledge events and snoozeevent notification.

■ Forward and Backward keys allowthe operator to scroll through variouslevels of information within a menu.

■ More key allows the operator to viewgreater detail of an event, feature, ormenu selection.

■ Cancel key cancels the current menuselection and reverts back to theprevious menu level.

Finger Tip Controls (FTC) are clusteredfor easy, one-handed operation to theoperator’s left. They control steering,machine direction and gear selection.

1 Electronic Clutch and Brake (ECB)steering system consists of twosmall levers which send signals thatcontrol the steering valve.

■ Levers require less than threepounds of pull to actuate.

■ Steering is accomplished inmuch the same way as withtraditional clutch and brakearrangements but with less timeand effort.

ECB System allows the operator to workmore precisely in close areas, aroundstructures, obstacles, grade stakes, othermachines or on fine grades.

Adjustable operator comfort The system is attached to an electricallinear actuator which allows the FTCmodule to be adjusted up and down.Fore/aft adjustment is controlled bya manual lever on the front of thecontrol module.

2 Machine direction is controlled bya pivoting knob which can beactuated by the thumb of the lefthand. Rotating the knob up movesthe machine forward. Rotating theknob down reverses the machine.The middle setting puts themachine in neutral.

3 Gear selection is made by twobuttons to the right of the machinedirection knob. The top (upshift)button shifts the machinetransmission to the next higher gearwhile the bottom (downshift)button shifts to the next lower gear.

4 Parking brake switch electronicallylocks ECB system and transmissioncontrol.

Operators can choose between manualshifting or the Automatic shiftingfeature, depending on the applicationand/or operator’s preference.

Auto Shift allows the operator to preseta forward and reverse gear for frequentdirectional changes. Auto Shift settingsinclude first forward to second reverse.

Automatic Shifting features easierupshifts and downshifts which canincrease operator productivity, reducefatigue, and shorten cycle times.

Automated Blade Assist (ABA) is a semi-automatic dozercontrol function that increases efficiency and reduces operatorworkload by automating some of the more common bladefunctions. The ABA system for Carrydozer tractors consists ofAutoPitch, AutoSpread, and Auto Return.

AutoPitch allows the operator to preset blade pitch angles foroptimal performance during the dozing cycle: one setting eachfor load, carry, spread and return. Once the AutoPitch key isactivated on the VIDS keypad, the operator can select thedozing segment by pushing the yellow button on the left sideof the dozer handle.

AutoSpread raises the blade at an operator selectable rateduring the spread/dump portion of the dozing cycle.AutoSpread is activated on the keypad and is initiated bypushing the yellow button on the left side of the dozer handle.

AutoReturn will raise the blade fully to the end of the dozingpass and then return the blade to a starting pitch and height tobegin the next dozing pass. AutoReturn is activated on thekeypad and is initiated when the tractor is placed into reverse.

Automatic Tilt limiting function helps the operator to keep thepusharms from interfering with the track. Low-effort,automatic control functions increase productivity.

1 Thumb button selects doze segment. First hit actuatescarry (lays the blade back), second hit actuates auto dump.

2 Thumb button returns blade pitch to “ready to carry”.

3 Auto pitch indicator.

4 A set of operator preferences can individually take andsort through nine ID accounts via an easy-to-use keypad.

5 Float indicator.

Ripper control

6 Rigidly mounted hand grip provides firm support for theoperator even when ripping in the roughest terrain.

7 Low-effort thumb lever controls ripper raise and lower.

8 Low-effort finger lever controls shank in and shank outpositioning.

Carrydozer Blade carries material inside the blade curvaturefor maximum productivity. This increases the effective weightof the tractor which enables pushing a larger pile of material infront of the blade.

■ The carrying/pushing effects combine to significantlyincrease productivity.

■ Material carried in the blade also enables operation onsteeper slopes.

■ Blade pitch improves load control. Allows the operator tooptimize the blade pitch angle for each portion of thedozing cycle.

■ Single lever controls all blade movements including dual-tilt, blade pitch and blade dump.

■ Blade features a strong box section made of high-strength,low-alloy steel to resist twisting and cracking.

■ Additional wear plating is not necessary.

■ Blade cutting edges and end bits are made of proprietary CatDH-2 steel which has high tensile strength to withstand themost severe applications.

■ Standard rock guards and deflector shields on the back ofthe blade help protect lift and tilt cylinders from spillover.

■ All rotating joint assemblies use factory-installed shims tomaintain correct spacing.

■ Pusharm-to-blade joints feature replaceable bearings tosimplify rebuilding.

■ Pin-on router protectors.

Rippers. Single and multi-shank rippers are made to penetratetough material fast and rip thoroughly for use in a variety ofmaterials.

Single-shank Ripper.

■ Operator can adjust the shank depth from the seat using anoptional single-shank pin puller.

■ Large ripper frame view hole improves viewing ofripper tip.

■ Heat treated, cast spacer bars in ripper carriage help toextend pocket life and reduce shank notching.

■ Large, one-piece shank.

Multi-shank ripper tailors the tractor to the material by usingone, two or three shanks.

Hydraulic pitch adjustment cylinders vary the shank angle toget the best penetration so the material is lifted and shattered.

Straight pin mountings enhance serviceability for installationand removal.

Ripper hydraulic lines group uses Caterpillar's XT-3 hoses fordurability and reliability in tough applications.

Pin puller hydraulic hoses routed along lift cylinder toincrease service life and hoses are larger in diameter toincrease response time for cold weather operation.

Rear counterweights provide proper tractor balance tomaximize dozing production. Recommended if other rearattachment not specified.

Remote lube provides improved access to grease mainframeand to ripper frame pin joint.
