The stars were out in full force, at the Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago, for the world premiere of the 29° video on Thurs-day, September 4th. It was a who’s who of Scottish Rite Masonry, led by the direc-tor, Active Member Valley of Danville, James L. Tungate, 33°. The video cast was comprised of members of the Valley of Chicago, including lead actor Mir Omar Ali. The cast, crew and creators were all in attendance as the degree was brought to light for the first time on the big screen. The event included a Hollywood-themed gift and red carpet entrance complete with paparazzi hounding for pictures and live red carpet interviews. Members arrived to
a flurry of light bulb flashes and questions from R&H Chairman and lead interviewer Jeff Henson.
The video was shown in the majes-tic Scottish Rite Cathedral Theater in Bloomingdale, followed by a film festival style question and answer session with James L. Tungate, 33°. Members asked intelli-gent questions and emcee John W. Quinn, Commander-in-Chief, Oriental Consistory, lead a discussion that focused on the cre-ation of the film and its message to the fraternity.
Reaction to the film was overwhelming. After the event, members raved about the film stating it was “Powerful” and “Two

thumbs up” and “Our Valley of Chicago actors should be proud.” The release of the film to other Valleys comes just in time for fall reunions, as thousands of Northern Masonic Scottish Rite members will now have the opportunity to view this master-piece. “These degree videos are important to Scottish Rite Masonry and represent an opportunity for everyone to see a degree they otherwise might not be able to live on stage,” stated Active Member, John T. Phillips, 33°.
Critics and audiences agree the 29° Knight of St. Andrew video is a “Tour de Force.”

C H A R I T Y N E W S
On August 7, a sellout crowd descended upon the Cathedral to celebrate the achieve-ments of the past year. Bruce DeMent, 33°, Chairman of the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Metropolitan Chicago Board of Gover-nors acted as emcee for this important event.
Special recognition was given to Euclid Lodge #65 for their donation to sponsor a child. The Paul and Joan Rubschlager Foundation was also recog-nized for their sponsorship of a child. Talia Roti, a very special 12-year-old, was recog-nized for her contribution of $721 which she raised by selling lemonade. Also recog-nized was the Grand Lodge of Illinois, for supplying free space to the Children’s Dys-lexia center on the grounds of the Masonic Children’s Home in LaGrange, Jill Morri-son for her great support and cooperation; the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction for pro-viding all the support mechanisms necessary to run our center, and the Valley of Chicago for their ongoing support of this charity. A moment of silence was observed for the passing of Illustrious J. Robert Stockner 33° and Illustrious Thomas W. O’Connor 33°, two great supporters of the charity.
Don Esser, Chairman of the 2014 Walk to Help Children with Dyslexia, reported on the WALK and thanked all supporters for their generosity. Trophies were award-ed to the individual walker who raised the most money, Kimberly Suchorabski, and to the Team that raised the most money – TEAM NICK. The last award presented was to the Blue Lodge that raised the most
money – Rising Sun #115 from Grayslake. This traveling trophy is named after Ill. Thomas W. O’Connor, 33° who was the Chairman of the Children’s Dyslexia Center for more than 11 years.
Paula Conway, Director of the Dyslexia Center, presided over the best part of the evening, when she introduced the graduat-ing class of twelve students and four certified tutors. These students and their dedicated tutors were welcomed with a rousing round of applause from the 250+ in attendance. For the upcoming school year we will have 40 students enrolled in the program and 20 tutors. Two graduating students and one parent spoke to the crowd about how the Dyslexia Center and its staff changed their lives. The audience had tears in their eyes as the speakers thanked all in attendance. This was Masonry exemplified!
Sadly, Paula reported that there is over a two-year waiting list of qualified students waiting for an opening. With your support, we can open a second Dyslexia Center. Please become involved and consider a donataton today.
The Annual Walk to Help Children with Dyslexia will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015, on the grounds of the Scot-tish Rite Cathedral. The WALK will start and finish at the Cathedral and wind its way along the scenic Spring Creek Res-ervoir. Individual walkers and teams are invited to participate in what is the big-gest fundraising event of the year for the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Metropoli-tan Chicago. There will also be a category especially for Blue Lodge teams with the Illustrious Thomas W. O’Connor, 33rd
