MAS464 – Mathematical Mechanics Classroom: E6-1. 2413 Class Hours: Mon. Wed. Fri. 10:00~10:50 Instructor: Ji Oon Lee (E6-1. 2404, Tel. 2711, [email protected]) Office Hours: Mon. 3:30~4:30, Thu. 3:30~4:30 Scope: This course is intended for mathematics students who want to learn basic concepts of physics. (Not to be confused with mathematics for physics students.) Textbook: No single textbook. Lecture notes will be available, instead. References: “Physics for Mathematicians, Mechanics I” by Spivak “Quantum Mechanics for Mathematicians” by Takhtajan “Feynman Lectures on Physics” by Feynman Topics: - Lagrangian mechanics, Hamiltonian mechanics, measurement, quantization, Gibbs measure, and other topics in mathematical physics. Evaluation: - Mid-term (50%) + Final (50%) Remarks: - Teaching will be in English. Questions can be in English or Korean.
