FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY COLLECT

Jesus our Lord, you have taught us that judgment begins in the house of God: save us from our self-satisfaction, rigidity and corruption, and make us salt and light for the world; for you live and reign in the unity of the blessed Trinity, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

NOTICES, LITSEBISO, IZAZISO, DIKITSISO, NDIVHADZO NEXT SERVICE: There will be ONE service next Sunday at 09h30 SHARP as we hold our vestry. “Nothing enthuses confidence in person faster than Punctuality”, nor is there any habit which saps his reputation than being late" (Prabhat Kumar). If you are a visitor today and would like to know more about Holy Cross Church kindly speak to the priest or Parish Councillors/Church Wardens at the table next to the choir. Your comments are of im-portance to our growth. Please spare a few minutes of your time and fill the VISITORS’ BOOK at the back entrance as you leave the Church today. Thank you for worshipping with us today! Welcome! PEP SMEAR/PROSTATE TESTS: Please come collect your results from the Rector’s Office if you did tests for pep smear and prostate late last year. We encourage all to do almost all the tests especially at the beginning of the year so as to be on top of your life. Remember that anything detected early can easily be dealt with and hence the better chances of cure in most cases. VESTRY: Please note that as announced last Sunday in our notices, the vestry is hereby postponed to next Sunday the 12 February 2017 due to lack of enough nominations for Council members. Please note that according to the Rules that govern vestry meetings the nominations close seven days before the Vestry meeting. This means that by today all nomi-nations should be filled so that later on in the day we take down the list and close nomina-tions. Nobody can be nominated for the position of a Church warden if they have never served as parish Councillors before. Please collect the Vestry pack for your perusal and come prepared next Sunday. PLEASE NOTE — The nominations are closing today and we do not want to find ourselves in a difficult situation again next Sunday. The Bishop has indicated that he will not grant any parish any extension as this practice contravenes the Canons. Approach people you feel can serve the Church as Councillors and/or Church Wardens by today and get their approv-al before you write their names down.

CONFIRMATIONS: If you are interested in being confirmed this year and you are 16 years of age or 15 years and are turning 16 this year then this is your opportunity to register your name on the Form provided on the Notice Board. The sooner you do this the quicker we can start with the classes. Applications are closing soon.

COVENANT SUNDAY: The Covenant Sunday has now become the culture and tradition of

Holy Cross Church and as such we will once again have this ever so special service on 26

FEBRUARY 2017. Please diarise accordingly. Please note that we will deliver all the enve-

lopes for the year (Covenant, Easter, Holy Cross Day and Christmas) and these can be col-

lected from the Zone Leaders.

THE YOUNG PEOPLE’S ZONE: Are you a young adult worshipping at Holy Cross and find it difficult to belong a Zone? The solution has come your way. Sunday the 12 February the Young People Zone will have a slot during notices to say briefly who they are and who can join them. All young adults are welcome to join this Zone which is meant to bridge the gap that seems to exist between the adults and young people in zonal structures. We would like to emphasize that every member of this church should belong to a Zone even before they could join any given group/guild in the Parish. See the Rector if you are not sure of your zone. Apologies for the mixed dates as previously announced. ST BERNARD MIZEKI: The Bernard Mizeki Guild is doing their official opening at St Mary’s—Bekkersdal during this weekend. The BM members from Holy Cross are away this

weekend taking this part in this opening revival. ALPHA: The 3rd Session will be held on Thursday - 9th February 2017. Starting at 6pm till 7:30pm. The topic is: "How Can I Be Sure Of My Faith?" (2) On Saturday the 18th February 2017 Alpha will be having an "Afternoon Movie Show" as part of their fundraising. The event will feature two movies back-to-back. Cost per ticket is R10 pp. Popcorns & Juice will be on sale. The 2 Movies will be Advertised soon. (3) On (Saturday & Sunday) the 18th & 19th March 2017, there will be a Weekend Away at Bosco Centre, Walkerville. The Cost of the camp is R450 including meals, transport and accommodation. Should you want to pay for the camp today, please see Makabelo Mathaba after the service.

A blessed and serene week ahead filled with ALL God’s riches love, healing and generosity!
