2011 has been a truly exciting year for the LTA. During the year, we finished one of our biggest and most ambitious projects: The Circle Line.

It is the fruition of a decade-long exercise in ingenuity, determination and resilience and I am sure many of you, like me, cheered when the line became fully operational.

The Circle Line is already benefitting an estimated 300,000 people and saves many up to 17 minutes in travel time.

But while the project completion marks a significant milestone and we celebrate a job well done, we must look ahead.

LTA is in an era of enormous challenge and opportunity at the same time: building kilometers of new rail line and expressway to help ensure that Singapore’s land transport system stays on track. Our work affects everyone everyday, and in order to achieve better outcomes, we need to continue to engage our stakeholders. Our transport system is all about the people who rely on us more than ever, to get to where they need to go, efficiently and reliably.

“We keep your world moving” is even more relevant today than when we first conceived it. To do this, LTA staff will have to demonstrate continued innovativeness, determination and resilience — and with pride that we are making a difference in the Singapore landscape.

Let’s approach the end of this year with a smile and some satisfaction for a job well done, and with a belief that the best is yet to be. Thank you very much for all the good work.
