Fiber optic cable is used as a medium to transfer data, for control and sensing purposes. The large bandwidth of fiber optic cable along with compact size and weight make its installation less time-consuming. With sensing capability, fiber optic system provides a wide range of data on environmental conditions such as temperature, oil reserve levels and equipment status or performance. The FO cable can be used to monitor assets at a long distance from the control room, on shore as well off shore making it the most durable and robust solution in the industry.

The Fiber Optic Sensing requires very specific cabling to ensure safety, productivity and durability in such a challenging environment. These cables must be reliable and able to withstand heat, pressure, moisture, corrosion and vibration.

Incab Specialty Cables (ISC) LLC covers such applications as: Oil&Gas, Security, Structural health and assets monitoring, Rail Road, IoT, Fire Detection, Geophysics, and offers a range of specialty cables including Sensing cable with Encapsulated Conductor and Encapsulated Fiber and hybrid cables.

The company is a spin off from INCAB which has a rich manufacturing expertise and history. Incab Group is based in Russia and has a US subsidiary Incab America LLC, operating two production sites in Perm (Russia) and in Arlington (TX, USA). Incab Group designs, develops and manufactures cables for telecommunications and power industry for the last 12 years. It is one of the leading manufacturers of cables in Europe. The in-house capability of producing basic steel tubing, Fiber-In-Metal-Tube (FIMT), encapsulating optical fiber and copper conductor with various metals, alloys and polymers, allows us to develop and offer unique solutions for the harsh environment applications.

As the need for more sophisticated fiber optic cables grows, ISC remains at the forefront of development and customization of these cables for various applications, using different metals and encapsulation materials and configurations. Through the relationships with system manufacturers and understanding of customer and market needs, ISC is ready to serve this high-tech industry with a cable portfolio which is unique and cost-competitive.

SOLUTIONS

Upstream• Geophysical research• Drilling and development• Well monitoring

Midstream • Transportation system • Liquefied gas terminals • Storage facilities

Downstream • Purification • Petrochemicals • Distribution

Fiber optic cables are now routinely deployed to sense the environment around them, which turned them into a reliable, sensitive and smart source of information from remote locations where cable is deployed. The heart of these cables is optical fiber, traditionally used for data transmission only, now serves as a transducer, sensitive to the environmental changes and able to carry multi-sensing data.

Optical fibers integration played a significant role in advancing

monitoring solution to the next level and resulted in a better understanding of the physical processes taking place in deploymentenvironment.

Development of multi-sensing cables able to sense and transfer multiple data is the key to successful outcomes, i.e. decreased maintenance costs, optimized equipment operation, faster emergency response and reduced environmental damage.
