BackgroundIn 1996 a Federal mandate required all vehicle manufacturers to install an on-board diagnostic (OBD) connector in every vehicle. Essentially, the engine's computer must support a standardized

communications protocol and keep track of the operating state of the vehicle - such as the speed. The VIP™ establishes communications with the vehicle's computer and sends this information to

your Genesis II Select™ radar.

The VIP™ Works in All Cars Made After 1996

The VIP™ is a compact module that plugs into the diagnostic port of the vehicle improving the performance of the Genesis II Select™ radar. The VIP™ reads the speed information sent by the diagnostic port and uses that information to help eliminate shadowing. The VIP™ can also be set to automatically switch the Genesis II Select™ between moving and stationary modes freeing the operator from frequent button presses.
