DIRECTIONS FOR USE IN SOYBEANSGENERAL INFORMATION
Cobra is a selective, broad spectrum herbicide forpreemergence and postemergence control of sus-ceptiblebroadleafweeds.Cobraisformulatedasanemulsifiableconcentratecontaining2 lbs.ofactiveingredient per gallon. In the upper North Centralregionofthemidwest, postemergenceapplicationsofCobraHerbicidetosoybeans(atorjustbeforestbloom) has resulted in suppression of the soybeandisease white mold caused by Sclerotinia sclero-tiorum.Cobraworksprimarilythroughcontactaction.Goodcoverageofyoung,activelygrowingweedsisessen-tial formaximumweedcontrol.Theuseofasprayadjuvantisusuallyrequired.Refertothelabelsec-tion on ADJUVANTS AND ADDITIVES for specificrecommendations.WhenCobra isappliedpostemergent, aportionofthe spray solution may contact the soil surface. Ifsoilmoistureconditionsare favorable forpreemer-gence activityfollowingtheapplication,suppressedgerminationofsmall-seededbroadleafweeds,suchasnightshadespecies,pigweedspecies,andpricklysidamaybeexpectedfora2to3weekperiod.Thepresenceofexcessivecroporweed foliageat thetime of application will reduce the amount of her-bicide spray contacting the soil surface and willreducethelevelofsoilactivity.A temporary crop response should be expectedfollowing a post-emergence application of Cobra.Soybeanleaveswhichareopenatthetimeofappli-cationwillshowsomeburn,bronzingandspeckling.Trifoliate soybean leaves which have emerged butareunopenedatthetimeofapplicationmayappearcupped at the tip and/or crinkled along the edgesoftheleaf.Soybeansquicklyoutgrowallinitialher-bicide effects. When Cobra is used as directed, under commercial conditions soybean yields will not be adversely affected. Under conditions of nor-mal weed growth Cobra is rainfast 30 minutes after application.

APPLICATION CONVENTIONAL ROW APPLICATION TIMING
Forbestresults,CobraandCobratankmixesshouldbeappliedtosmallactivelygrowingweedsthatarenot larger than indicated in Table 2S or tank mixTables of this label. Normally this occurs 4 to 2days after planting or after last field preparation, when soybeans are at the first to second trifoliateleafstage.Soybeansator larger thanthethird trifoliatestagemayinterferewiththespraypatternandreducecov-erageoftheweedleaves.Do not apply Cobra whenthesoybeansortheweedsareunderstress.ApplyingCobraunderconditionsthatdonotpromoteactiveweedgrowthwillreduceherbicideeffective-ness. DRILLED/SOLID SEEDED APPLICATION TIMINGUnder drilled/solid-seeded soybean cropping sys-tems, a dense crop canopy develops more rapidlythan conventional row spacings. GENERAL INFORMATIONCobraHerbicideeffectivelycontrolsawidespectrumofimportantbroadleafweedsinpeanuts.Weedscanbe controlled by applying Cobra Herbicide poste-mergencetoactivelygrowingweedsnolargerthansizesindicatedintheTablePbelow.When Cobra Herbicide is applied postemergence, aportion of the spray solution may contact the soilsurface. If soil moisture conditions are favorable forpreemergence activity following the application, sup-pressedgerminationofsmall-seededbroadleafweeds,such as nightshade species, pigweed species, andpricklysidamaybeexpectedfora2to3weekperiod.Factors which reduce the amount of spray solutioncontacting the soil surface, such as excessive weedfoliage, willreducethelevelofsoilactivity.

Ifpeanutsaretreatedatthe2to4leafstage,growthwill be temporarily delayed. This period of growthreduction may be prolonged if the application ismade during periods when the peanuts are understressorunderconditionsthatdonotpromoteactivegrowth. These conditions may include periods ofdrought, excess soil moisture, unusually cold tem-peratures or injury from preemergence herbicides.Peanuts quickly outgrow this temporary conditionundergoodgrowingconditions.
RAINFALL OR OVERHEAD IRRIGATIONUnder conditions of normal weed and peanutgrowth, CobraHerbicide may be applied up to 30minutes before rainfall or overhead irrigation with-out reduced weed control effectiveness. EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APPLICATION
CobraHerbicidecanbeappliedusingstandardcom-mercial ground spraying equipment. Use standardhigh-pressure pesticide flat fan or hollow-conenozzles spaced up to 20 inches apart. Do not useflood, whirlchamberorcontrolleddropletapplicatornozzlesaserraticcoveragecancauseinconsistentweedcontrol.Use 0 to 20 gals. of spray solution per broadcastacreforoptimumperformance.Increasewatervol-umeupto50gals.ifcroporweedfoliageisdense.Apply using a minimum spray pressure of 40 to 60psiasmeasuredattheboom.Weedsmustbethor-oughly covered with spray for satisfactory control.Always use an adequate volume of spray solutiontoensure thoroughcoverage.Dense leafcanopiesshield smaller weeds and can prevent adequatecoverage.Whenrowbandingequipment isused, itshouldbeadjusted to provide maximum coverage of weedsintherow.Thoroughcoverageofweedsintherowis best achieved when 2 nozzles are directed fromeithersideofthecroprowtowardtheweedsinthemiddle.Therecommendedminimumbandwidthis5incheswithaminimumsprayvolumeof5gals.peracre on the band.
