Spectrastat

INCI ADOPTED NAME Caprylhydroxamic Acid (and) Caprylyl Glycol
(and) Glycerin GENERAL INFORMATION Spectrastat is a complete system
for preservative-free cosmetic and
personal care products. Spectrastat contains no biocides or
typicalpreservatives. Instead it uses multifunctional agents that
have excellentefficacy as biostaticand
fungistaticagents.Spectrastat is ideal for personal care products
where a paraben-free orpreservative-free claim is needed. It can be
used as an alternative totraditional preservative blends that are
seen as undesirable by theconsumer.
A special benefit of Spectrastatis that it performs superbly at
neutralpH, a state where many other fungistatic materials are
ineffective.Spectrastat also adds humectancy, moisturization
properties, and greatsensory characteristics for topical skin care
products.
PRINCIPAL USES
Spectrastat may be used in emulsion, anhydrous and
surfactantsystems. These include creams, lotions, shower gels and
make-up.We recommend that Spectrastat be used in such as way as to
minimizeits exposure to elevated temperatures. For production of
O/W
emulsions, we recommend adding Spectrastat post-emulsification,
afterthe emulsion has cooled below 50 C.Typical use level is 0.7%
w/w to 1.2% w/w.
