UM Series Locks (Our standard series): All Great Openings filing and storage products are equipped with UM Series master-keyed, core-removable locking systems. We support a key/core range of 226 to 425. UM Series locks are flat faced and matte black in color. All standard Great Openings products are shipped with randomly assigned cores/keys. UM Series cores and keys are interchangeable with Herman Miller products using the same lock series and range.

Product Restrictions: Available on all products.Ordering Instructions: no special instructions needed.

SL Series Locks: Our SL lock cores and keys are interchangeable with the Haworth SL lock series. We support the same key/core range as Haworth: SL-001 through SL-300. Great Openings’ SL series locks are scalloped faced and matte black in color. When SL series locks are specified, Great Openings products will be shipped with randomly assigned SL cores/keys. Haworth ML Series lock cores will also operate with our SL Lock mechanism. However, Great Openings does not offer ML cores and keys. It is the dealer’s responsibility to source and provide the ML cores/keys. When using SL Locks with ML cores, Great Openings’ products will be shipped with no core.

Product Restrictions: Not available on the Freestanding Desk Over Storage Hutch.SL Ordering Instructions: You must clearly specify “Haworth SL Series Locks” on your purchase order. ML Ordering Instructions: You must clearly specify “Haworth SL Series Locks-No Core” on your purchase order.

Standard Paint Finishes: Great Openings is pleased to offer you 55 standard colors, all at standard lead times and price. These colors apply to all products that we manufacture with no minimum order quantity. All standard colors are smooth, with the exception of the “textured colors”. Finishes are either an epoxy-polyester, electrostatically applied, or a high-solids baked enamel, both of which provide for excellent consistency and superior chip and fade resistance.

Non-Standard Paint Finishes:Great Openings can match almost any color that you need using our color approval process. We have twoclassifications for non-standard colors: SELECT and CUSTOM. If you require a non-standard color, please send us a metal paint sample and we will determine its classification and treatment. We will then inform you of the color classification and send you a metal sample for your written approval.

1. Select Colors:Definition: Any non-standard color that is currently in our tinting system at the time of order that will allow us to formulate and produce this color in-house. Color classification will be determined individually for each and every non-standard color order.

Select Color Parameters:• Non-standard color classification and the following parameters will apply each time the color is ordered. • Minimum order size (of Select product color) is $2,500 dealer list, or a $75 net lab fee will apply.• Minimum lead-time is 10 working days after we receive your written approval.

2. Custom Colors:Definition: Any non-standard color that is NOT currently in our tinting system at the time of order that will require us to out-source color formulation and production. Color classification will be determined individually for each and every non-standard color order. The possibility exists that the classification could change from order to order.

Custom Color Parameters:• Non-standard color classification and the following parameters will apply each time the color is ordered.• Minimum order size is $30,000 dealer list per color or a $700 net lab fee will be applied. • Minimum lead-time is 15 working days after we receive your written color approval.• Newly sourced paint will require testing to ensure compatibility with Great Opening’s paint systems before

order approval is given.

Safeguarding Quality Standards, Controlling Costs:Certain colors fall outside the scope of this program due to production, quality or cost issues. We reserve the right to apply additional charges for certain colors that are difficult to apply, or to refuse orders for certain colors that will not meet our stringent quality standards. This determination will be made during the color classification stage of the process.

The GO Freestanding Desk consists of multiple workstation elements including desks, credenzas, returns, peninsulas, over storage hutches, corners, bridges, privacy screens, tables, individual components and accessories. The modularity of the elements and work surface shapes allow you to configure an endless array of workstation designs for both the private office and open plan applications.

No-Top Option All of our desking elements and typical workstations are available with a No-Top pricing option. We welcome you to source your own work surfaces in order to lower your workstation cost or to satisfy special design requirements (custom laminate patterns, edge trims, and shapes). Please contact Customer Service for more information.

General Specifications • All desk elements attach to each other with simple hardware included with each item. • Modesty panels (both full-height and half-height) specified with returns, bridges and peninsulas feature a two-piece, telescoping design which will expand and contract to ease the assembly process. • Single and Double Pedestal Desks, Corner Desks and Extended Corner Desks will include single piece (not two-piece telescoping) full height or half height modesty panels.• All modesty panels consist of 22-gauge steel. • End panel legs are double-walled 20-gauge steel, floor height support, and match pedestal depths (21 7/8” and 27 7/8”).• Leveling glides are a stylized design with 1 5/8” adjustment.• Desk finished height is 29” nominal and under work surface clearance is 27 3/4” plus leveling glide adjustment.• Over Storage Hutch ships fully assembled with a removable back panel and tack board as standard.• Over Storage Hutch includes full width back panel pass through rubber strip, shelf grommet and vertical covered

channels for wire management. • Corner Desk Leg Covers for wire management are available as an accessory.• 12” Panel Legs and “H” Legs are sold separately for special workstation configurations.

Application Notes (Do’s and Don’ts)• Corner Desks are standard with clear access legs for knee space and cannot be specified in a freestanding or end-of-worksurface-run application. • Peninsula Desks cannot be specified in a freestanding application. • Over Storage Hutch uprights must be placed within 2” of a pedestal, clear access leg or end panel support. • Remember to verify that Over Storage Hutch width matches desk or required span dimension.• Bridges cannot be attached to any Return or Single Pedestal Return components.• A Single Pedestal Desk should be a minimum of 66” wide when specifying with a Return, or Peninsula

(L-Station application) to leave adequate chair, keyboard and knee space.

Desk Elements Shipped Knocked-Down or Assembled• Over Storage Hutches always ship assembled, for immediate placement on top of work surfaces.• All other desk elements ship knocked-down. Single Pedestal Desks and Double Pedestal Desks may be assembled prior to shipment. Please contact Customer Service for pricing and lead-time information.

Assembly Notes• Detailed assembly instructions are included with every order. • Desk elements without modesty panels require end panel support gussets. (2 gussets included). • Modesty panels mount flush to the work surface and floor supports. Full-height modesty panels extend to approximately two inches from floor to accommodate cable management.• Work surfaces are pre-drilled to align support components and center drawers. Steel Construction• All-welded steel frame construction, formed in key areas for strength.•18 gauge inner frame, 20-22 gauge outer panels, cold rolled steel.

Locks• Lateral Files include UM Series (#226-425), black-faced, master-keyed, core removable locks.

Key-alike service is available.• Cabinets are shipped with randomly-assigned keys and cores. • Other lock and key series are available, including Haworth™ SL and Knoll™ K Series.• Additional lock options and key-alike information is available in the Introduction.

Finish• Great Openings’ metal finishes are either an epoxy-polyester powder, electrostatically applied, or a high-solids baked enamel finish.

Counterweights• Counterweights are required for 2, 3, 4 and 5 drawer files if not anchored or ganged to another file, and are sold separately.

Lateral File Drill Locators• 2 small circles on side of each lateral, making it easy to drill and gang laterals together so that counterweights are not necessary.

Drawer Bin Specifications• Standard lateral drawer bins are 16” deep, 9 1/2” high, and 26 5/8”, 32 5/8”, or 38 5/8” wide. • Lateral File drawers are inset, and the vertical edge detail, (i.e., radiused vs. squared) applies to the cabinet itself.

Security Bar-Lock

Any standard 2, 3, 4, and 5-high lateral file with 6” or 12” drawers may be upgraded to includefull-height piano hinges on each front vertical edge, with one set of hinged horizontal security bars that will accommodate a keyed or combination pad lock.

Wall-Mounted Bracket Kit

Order any single overhead cabinet or shelf to be shipped with two 60” double-slotted wall-mount strips. Each wall-mount strip features an alu-minum shell and heavy-duty steel hanger insert. Twenty toggle anchors and fasteners for securing wall strips to drywall are included.

When fully assembled and hung, overhead cabinets or shelves rest approximately 1 1/2” away from the wall. The vertical brackets are mounted 1/2” to each side of the overheads to allow for positioning units side-to-side, if desired. Wall mount kit and cabinet assembly instructions are included.
