English Lesson:

Exploring Similarities and Differences between Packaging

Today we are going to compare the packaging of similar products. We will compare the similarities and differences in content, language

features and visual elements.

Let’s have a look at the ads that we will be comparing.

Activity 1: FIRST, LET’S COMPARE THE CONTENT OF THE PACKAGING.

a) Logo (brand name)

Coke logo: ________________________________________________________________

Daily Writing: Complete the task below in your exercise book. You will

continue to add to this tomorrow.

Your Task today is to: 1. Using your planning from yesterday to help guide your writing-

come up with a title and start writing your introduction.

Give the reader an outline of your argument.

2. Your title should link to your main idea and give the reader a clue about what they

will read in your argument

3. Your introduction should

- State your opinion on the topic

- Include strong words to persuade the reader (Some sentence starters have been

included for you).

EXAMPLE:

Is It Safe to Ride a Bike to School? Riding your bike is a great way to stay fit and healthy. However, many people think it

is too dangerous to ride your bike to school unsupervised because of the traffic.

Many people believe if you ride to school, that it should be with an adult.

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree?

Perhaps you can think of ideas for both side of this argument.

Maths Lesson:

Using mathematical language to find locations and describe pathways

In today’s lesson we will use mathematical language to find locations and describe

pathways. First though, let’s see what you remember about scale.

1. Write the words or phrases below in your book in different colours according to the

guide below.

Legend words=Green, Compass words=Pink, Scale words=Blue, Direction/Location words=

Yellow

2. Measure the length and width of a room in metres and draw a bird’s eye view

(overhead view) using a scale of one centimetre to represent one metre. Draw the

main items of furniture in the room using the same scale.

3. Use the room plan you have created to write directions explaining a pathway to a

mystery location of your choice. You can choose the starting point. Use words

from the word wall below. When you have finished, give your directions to

someone to follow.

4. Using the ‘Classroom plan on the next page for this question. Follow the

directions and colour the pathway on the classroom plan to find the mystery

location.
