Spirit Fund 2016 Fire in Our Hearts

Dear St. Matthew Community,

This year for our Spirit Fund campaign, we were inspired by the quintessential Spirit: the essence of wisdom and love that is the Holy Spirit. Our theme is actually a prayer that the Paraclete will broaden our minds and light a “Fire in Our Hearts!”

In everything that we do at St. Matthew Catholic School, we first seek spiritual perfection, knowing that with fervent prayer, dedication and hard work we can achieve true Knowledge and Understanding. We teach our children to practice the cardinal virtues, and this invites the theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love to blossom within them. This is the crucial difference that a Catholic education can make in the lives of our children and without your support, it would not be possible.

Every year we use our precious resources to improve, maintain, and preserve our remarkable school. Thanks to your unceasing generosity, we have been able to make a substantial donation toward “Building the Future,” the Capital Campaign for our new Gym. We have also been able to renew and beautify many areas of our campus, a project which is ongoing. We replaced the lighting in many of our classrooms with more energy-efficient LED lights. We are updating and replacing the treads in our three stairwells, we repaired the retaining wall along the back carline fence, we mended and repainted the rails and ramps that access our portables, and we are implementing plans for new landscaping in the interior courtyard and the front plaza. We must remain certain that our facilities and grounds are up to the challenge of caring for over 700 students each day.

I would like to take this opportunity to convey our sincere gratitude for your generous contributions to St. Matthew Catholic School over the years. I am always amazed at the dedication with which our families work together to nurture our shared responsibility: our kids. We genuinely thank you for sharing your gifts with us and we pray that the Holy Spirit will kindle in you the fire of His Love!

The well-being of our students is always first & foremost in every decision that we make here at St. Matthew Catholic School. With the exciting developments as we move forward with our project of “Building the Future” and the new Gym, our thoughts have turned once more to the health and happiness of our children.

The campus will soon be a flurry of activity when our old athletics field becomes a construc-tion site. With this in mind, we have decided to enclose the children’s recess area in order to beautify and secure their playground. Our PTC Executive Board will work closely with the School Administration and the Parish Building Committee in order to select a functional and elegant fencing design that will complement the existing architectural elements on campus and maintain the visual integrity of the front plaza.
