District Office Bearers

We had visitors: DGN AG Anne Egan PHS, who gave us a short talk on the

meaning of the Club Assembly and the reason for having it. She mentioned that

the Club Assembly is something which lives at the discretion of the Club. The

next one planned is November 5th (Melbourne Cup Day) or possibly November

12th, immediately following the District Governor’s Official Visit.

Anthony Idle, who has ridden in the Bike Ride and was introduced by Anni

Brownjohn; and Warren O’Brien, who works with Bob and Diedri Shepherd as

one of their Consultants - both visited us.

The Club Assembly brought some very worthwhile ideas to the fore. We shall,

over the next two weeks, be processing those ideas, and in Week 4 we hope to

have some structures in place to deliver on the ideas put forth, and will take a

little part of the meeting to report on this.

Michael took us into the finances of the Sausage Sizzle over the last 12 months.

It was great to hear that, after deducting all expenses - sausages, sauces, eggs and

bacon, and so on - RCMC made a net profit of $10,000 over the year! This is

truly the underpin of our fund raising effort.

However, the other hand gets opened, and reveals that we are presently at an all-

time low of 15 members. They’re getting older. It’s winter - oy is it winter! And

the point is that next Saturday, 13th July, we only have two of the regulars

available to work the Sausage Sizzle - Denis and Michael. And Tammy Dundon,

who will be conducting her Cake Stall at the Sausage Sizzle. So we need an extra

hand or two (or three or more).

We are also conducting a very short raffle of a Motor Cycle!! This is a Marshin

125cc Farm Bike, with a matter of 10 kilometres run. It can be road-registered.

Tickets are $5 each. Thank you to Peter Sochacki for the gift of this bike to be

raffled. See David or Denis over the next two weeks to make sure that you’re in

it.

Our fund-raising is central to Central’s existence. We need all of our members to

put their shoulders to the wheel, to lend a hand, to help Lead the Way so that we

can Engage Rotary, and Change Lives.

These next two weeks we spend a little effort on two major areas. This evening

Margaret Rickard takes us on her particular and very invigorating tour round the

Membership Programs of the District and how they can benefit us. Come and

listen to what will be a very thought-provoking session. The following Tuesday,

Week 3, is for the Youth operations, and will be conducted by Simone Wong,

the District Youth Officer. That will also be a very interesting evening.

So let’s be aware that there will be many ways in which we can ENGAGE

ROTARY, CHANGE LIVES.

FROM WHERE I SIT by David

ROCK AND ROLL on Saturday July 6

Come to Condong Bowling Club on Saturday July 6 and enjoy a Rock

and Roll evening . Dress up in your best sixties outfit and be there at

7.00pm. Admission is only $10 adults and $5 children and includes a

light supper provided. Fundraising for Story Dogs.

Music and basic instruction by Kevin Wilson. Be there or be square.

Thought of the day

"Men are not disturbed by things, but the view they take of things."

TRANSFER MEETING Our meeting of Tuesday July 23 has been transferred to this meeting on

Wednesday July 24 at Kathmandu Kitchen,.Kingscliff.

RANDOM THOUGHTS

The Grim Reaper came for me last

night, and I beat him off with a

vacuum cleaner. Talk about Dyson

with death.

A mate of mine recently admitted to

being addicted to brake fluid. When

I quizzed him on it he reckoned he

could stop any time....

I went to the cemetery yesterday to

lay some flowers on a grave. As I

was standing there I noticed 4 grave

diggers walking about with a coffin ,

3 hours later and they're still walking

about with it. I thought to myself,

they've lost the plot!!

My daughter asked me for a pet

spider for her birthday, so I went to

our local pet shop and they were

$70!!! Blow this, I thought , I can

get one cheaper off the web.

I was at an ATM yesterday when a

little old lady asked if I could check

her balance, so I pushed her over.

I start a new job in Seoul next week.

I thought it was a good Korea move.

I was driving this morning when I

saw an RACQ van parked up. The

driver was sobbing uncontrollably

and looked very miserable. I thought

to myself that guy's heading for a

breakdown.

Statistically , 6 out of 7 dwarfs are

not Happy.

My neighbour knocked on my door

at 2:30am this morning, can you

believe that, 2:30am?! Luckily for

him I was still up playing my

bagpipes.

I saw a poor old lady fall over in the

street today. At least I presume she

was poor - she only had $1.20 in her

purse.

My girlfriend thinks that I'm a

stalker. Well , she's not exactly my

girlfriend yet.

A wife says to her husband you're

always pushing me around and

talking behind my back. He says

what do you expect? You're in a

wheelchair.

I was explaining to my wife last

night that when you die you get

reincarnated but must come back as

a different creature. She said I would

like to come back as a cow. I said

you're obviously not listening.

The wife has been missing a week

now. Police said to prepare for the

worst. So I have been to the charity

shop to get all her clothes back.

LIPSTICK IN SCHOOL According to a news report, a

certain private school in Sydney

's Eastern Suburbs was recently

faced with an unusual problem.

A number of the girls were

beginning to use lipstick and

would put it on in the bathroom.

That was fine, but after they put

on their lipstick they would press

their lips to the mirror leaving

dozens of little lip prints.

Every night the maintenance man

would remove them and the next

day the girls would put them

back.

Finally the Headmistress decided

that something had to be done.

She called all the girls to the

bathroom and met them there

with the maintenance man.

She explained that all these lip

prints were causing a major

problem for the custodian who

had to clean the mirrors every

night (you can just imagine the

yawns from the little princesses).

To demonstrate how difficult it

had been to clean the mirrors, she

asked the maintenance man to

show the girls how much effort

was required.

He took out a long-handled

squeegee, dipped it in the toilet

bowl, and cleaned the mirror with

it.

The silence was broken by a large

number of gasps, a few girls

vomited and apparently one

fainted.

Since then there have been no lip

prints on the mirror.

There are teachers . .. . And then

there are educators.

Two Muslims have crashed a

speedboat into the wall at Wivenhoe

reservoir. Police think it might be the

start of Ram-a-dam.

Sat opposite an Indian lady on the

train today, she shut her eyes and

stopped breathing. I thought she was

dead , until I saw the red spot on her

forehead and realised she was just on

standby.

The wife was counting a load of 5

and 10 cent coins on the kitchen

table when she suddenly got very

angry and started shouting and

crying for no reason. I thought to

myself , "She's going through the

change."

When I was in the pub I heard a

couple of idiots saying that they

wouldn't feel safe on an aircraft if

they knew the pilot was a woman.

What a pair of sexists. I mean , it's

not as if she'd have to reverse the

bloody thing!

Local Police hunting the 'knitting

needle nutter', who has stabbed six

people in the last 48 hours , believe

the attacker could be following some

kind of pattern.

Bought some 'rocket salad' yesterday

but it went off before I could eat it!

Just got back from my mate's

funeral. He died after being hit on

the head with a tennis ball. It was a

lovely service.

An Asian fellow has moved in next

door. He has travelled the world,

swum with sharks , wrestled bears

and climbed the highest mountain. It

came as no surprise to learn his

name was Bindair Dundat.

The Club Song

We’ve come to introduce you to the Murwillumbah Central boys,

The way you know that we’re around is when you hear the noise,

There’s tenors, basses, inbetweens, and some just here for show,

But all the same we’ll sing to you, so boys just ‘Let ‘er go’.

When Governor Georgie, gave us our charter,

He kissed our Rotaryannes to make it right,

We’ve come to greet you, because we’re after,

All the fun and fellowship that’s going tonight.

So put it there!
