MESSAGE OF THE DEAN – FOR SPOKESMAN

Creative writing is the essence to effective written communication. Not only does

it not help put across the message effectively, but ensures that innovation is drivenhome. „Spokesman‟ is the right medium for the students to highlight their

innovative talent. Today, effective Marketing requires creativity in every facet ofits application and what better way than creative writing.

Creativity has ensured that the focus has shifted from hard work in an organization

to smart work. This technique focuses on crucial issues, which lead to higher productivity and effective output rather than diverting the attention of the manager

to too many things, thereby dissipating effort and resources. Smart work alsoimplies creatively delegating routine work to different process groups, then binding

everyone together as part of an effective team.

Smart work doesn‟t imply “credit work ” but ensures that whilst productive work

for the institution is taking place, one‟s own work also becomes evident loud and

clear by effective achievement of strategic goals. This requires creativity.

In a train journey to Ahmedabad in Jan 2015, I met a reputed OrganizationBehaviour specialist who taught me an important lesson. Everything in life comes

at an opportunity cost. Time available to everyone is only twenty four hours a day

and 365 days a year. When you utilize a particular period of time for undertaking a

given activity, then you are removing that time from some other activity that youcould have done at that period of time.

It therefore implies that there is an opportunity cost involved in putting one‟s

efforts in one direction. It also implies that this opportunity cost needs to be

analysed, so as to ensure that one puts efforts for creative activities to achieve

maximum gain. This is Smart work, if the job can be done by someone else, then it

must be delegated to that person and own efforts as leaders need to be focusedtowards creative issues. Achieving this ability in the students is where the creative

writing club of SBS can play a major role.

Message

I would like to congratulate the team of Creative Writing Club for imbibing writingskills in our budding managers. I personally feel that reading and writing are the

two virtues that mankind has been gifted by god. But unfortunately because of the

advent of mobile phones, computers and other gadgets these abilities have taken

back seat.

The first edition of spokesman had made me realize about the hidden talent of

writing in the students. I am sure that the subsequent edition of Spokesman will

provide a platform to many to showcase their talent.

Congratulations once again and wish you all the best in your creative endeavours.

The last walk together

Winds were blowing,Her beautiful face was glowingLike always I stare at her with love

And ask her may I take a walk with youShe immediately said no, I insistMay I take a last walk with u please.After that I will never bother youShe nodded her head in ok.Everything was so silent for me at that time.I am able to see her face and hear her voice only.Actually I was lost in her eyes,She doesn't even know about that.After some time I offered her some chocolates which I kept for her.I already knew that she will not accept it...still I offered.

She didn't take it...but it doesn't matter she is taking my precious moments with her.And I told her that she is taking the reason of my smile.And she is the reason for my smile.At that day the road seems so small and we reached our destination.She said bye by shaking hands.I don't want to leave her hand but slowly she slides her hand and it feels like thousandsof needles are pressing against my heart.I can't express my pain in words what I felt at that time.It feels like something priceless, precious and most important person of my life is goingaway from me..

I never thought that breathing will become so difficult for me ...I breathe heavily.She went away .I saw her going away from me .I got freeze. My hands and legs wereshaking with fear.Fear of losing her.She was vanished and I started to go back to my place.Now we were standing from where we started, like a stranger. I am hoping thattomorrow everything will going to be fine.But the sad truth is tomorrow never comes.I love her then, now and I will love her forever.

Still I am going to say that love is painful but it is beautiful.

Trying to be alive with this deadly ……….crowd.

Throngs stretch my feeling.

Now walk with absence of soul.

Sometimes , I nod in deep silence & calm and ask motionless

I !still alive? oh!

Or remain quiet ?

…Had enough ! tired of stampede

Growing of droplet grain, want to ebb this trauma.

Can’t Fight Anymore

Several times you wake up at night for no reasons, you feel incomplete.

You feel like it’s over, you can't fight anymore, you feel the pain, you feellike giving up. You find no reasons to keep struggling, You can't standalone anymore. It's over, that's something you say to yourself. Yes, thishappens to many of us, some of us fight these thoughts, some of us stopcaring, become careless, and some of us give up their precious lives. Thesethoughts are barriers between you and your goal. Every successful personwho started from the bottom faced difficulties, every successful personfaced these barriers, they faced tough times. They were not Donald Trump,for whom having a million dollar lawn was a very tough time. Giving up

your life is not a solution, everybody will die, and if you die so early whowill take care of your old parents, family, or you may lose a lot ofopportunities you are going to get in future. Maybe you are going to get awealthy life, or you are going to be very popular or you are just going toget what you want, who knows. Not every day is a bad day, not every nightis a good night, keep fighting. Then, there are people among us who chosethe 'drug way' or the peaceful way of living life, well that's really easiestway of living, but how about becoming impotent, brainless, useless moronfor this planet whose life doesn't really matter to many. You were born on

this planet, you will die on this planet, do something productive or at leastdo a job and take care of yourself and your well wishers. The negative waywill only destroy you, you must have seen how these people turn out to be,how dangerous they are for the society. And once you see how they aretreated in rehabilitation centre, you won't ever like to be there. It is just aneasy way to make you and your parents die the painful way or maybe loseevery one. You should always fight the thoughts that try to stop you. Say toyourself you can! They are your enemies pretending to be your friends,fight with them, destroy them so you can construct a better life.

Net Neutrality

* Net neutrality refers to uninhibited access to any content that is available on theinternet. Internet has grown due to the idea of openness. It allows people to connectand exchange information freely, provided the information or service is not illegal. Much

of this is because of the idea of net neutrality. In other words, it means internet serviceproviders should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source,and without favouring or blocking particular products or websites. It is seen as animportant component of an open Internet, where policies such as equal treatment ofdata and open web standards allow those on the Internet to easily communicate andconduct business without interference from a third party.The term ‘Net Neutrality’ hasbeen in vogue due to the current controversies that surround the term. Airtel, BSNL,MTNL and other telecom service providers that provide us with connectivity for internethave been making money through internet connections, calls and SMSs. However, withdeeper penetration of the internet, people began to use whatsapp, viber and otherapplications to send messages. Alternatively, people began to use viber, skype, facetime

even to make calls, reaping into profits made by the companies. Subsequently, Airteland other telcos were at a loss of profits and they began to introduce plans whichwould help increase their profits. A case in point is Airtel Bharti that has started aplatform called the Airtel Zero scheme. Airtel Zero allows customers to access certainwebsites without paying data charges as long as the providers of those services payAirtel for the same. As a consequence, now the customer who uses Airtel Bharti as aninternet provider can access all those sites which have entered into a partnership withAirtel Zero for free. The amount charged while browsing the website would be movedfrom the user to the particular website. For example, if limeroad signs this deal withAirtel, then user’s internet will not be charged for any data spent while browsing its

websites. The money would be taken from limeroad. While there are different views onwhether this stands in conflict with the concept of net neutrality, various websites likesavetheinternet and AIB say this will violate principles of ensuring equal access tointernet to users. Their main argument is that it will hamper start-ups and companieswhich don’t have a brand name to be able to grow into bigger firms. The otherargument lies in the Airtel Zero platform influencing the consumers’ choices by enticingthem with a website that is free, over others which are not. Airtel has heavily defendedtheir stance saying that their aim is only to encourage more people to use the internetby providing free websites. They also say that they will continue to provide all websiteson their connections, without blocking any content at all with the same speed for allwebsites. The Telecom Regulation Authority of India, TRAI had sought the opinions of

internet users in the matter of net neutrality. The problem in all this is a lack oflegislation. At present, the country does not have any law or act in the matter to use asa reference, to legislate the issue.

The Assistant

It was the summer of 90's when Monu Hansraj was roaming in the garden when hereceived a trump call , for which he had been waiting for 5 hours . It was from his uncle.

He received it and asked his uncle what's the matter about, his uncle told him that heneeded a favour from him as he would be a little late from his foreign tour so he shouldgo and gather some information from his next case . Monu easily agreed to it as hehimself had interest in detective work.It was the week end , college was off so Monu went to the Kapoor villa , to gatherinformation about the case. Little did he knew what was lying ahead .He knocked at the door of Kapoor villa. A men opened the door .Monu said "Goodmorning sir ." The man didn't say anything but left the door open and called the maid .The maid came and said "Good morning ."Monu also said "Goodmorning "Maid - "Whom do you want to meet ,sir ?"Monu- " I am the assistant detective of Mr. Vijaysekharam , he has sent me toinvestigate on the murder case . Mr. Karan Kapoor has appointed us on the case . "Maid - "Okay come in ."While walking inside the house Monu asked who was the man who opened the door.Maid replied " He is the owner of the house Mr. Kundan Kapoor ."Monu entered the drawing room ,a beautiful lady was standing in front of him. Sheasked the maid "Who is this young gentle man ." At the same moment Karan enteredthe room and said " You must be Monu ." Monu nodded to him . Karan then said "Bhabhi , he works for Vijaysekharam . He is here to gather information on the case tillSekharam sir comes back and Monu she is Mrs. Shalni Kapoor ,my brother's wife ."Shalni came forward and welcomed Monu then she asked him "Monu we have suffered

through a lot because of this case and I want to request you just this one thing thatplease find the murderer you know. Ram was more than a servant to us." Monu replied "I will try my best mam ."Then he had a cross checking with everyone from the family .Monu - " Tell me aboutRam , anything which can help in the case ?"Maid - "He was very quiet a day before the murder like something had happened to him."Monu - "Any family problems."Karan - "He didn't have a family ."Monu - " He was a good servant ?"Shalni - "Oh, yes absolutely a loyal one, too."

Monu - "So his body was found lying dead on the stairs ."Shalni - "Yes , at first we thought he slipped but then police found that he has beenattacked by something heavy on head before slipping through the stairs . Some moneywas also missing so we are sure it must be a thief ."Monu - " Do you think someone from the house can be involved ?"Kundan - " Are you mad ?"Monu - "Sorry ."

After completing as much investigation as he could he went back to his home . Helives with his little brother . His brother's name is Hans. Monu and Hans being freestarted discussing the case Hans asked "who can be the murderer according to you ?"Monu - "Shalni doesn't fit the bill , Karan is very less on probability , maid or thief can bethe possible killer but there is some tension I have saw on Kundan’s face when I

investigated further. I got to know recently ,before the murder he shouted too loud inthe office on Ram , but then Sekharam sir always used to say ‘ think unexpected’ . Didyou get anything from the newspapers related to the case ?"Hans -" Nothing much , just one ignorable thing ."Monu -" What ?"Hans -" Two days before the murder Kundan Kapoor survived a big accident . Can Isleep now ?"Monu -" okay."Hans was asleep when Monu woke him up , he asked to him for a quick chat , at first hewasn't ready to wake up but then he did .Monu -"Now listen carefully I have gone through all the newspaper clippings about the

accident and I have came to the conclusion from the distance and speed of the truckthat it was supposed to kill someone ."Hans -"Aren't we on the Ram murder case ?"Monu -"yes but I don't know why I feel that this accident has some connection to themurder ."Hans -" You have to just gather information on the case , you don't need to solve it .You are an assistant to Vijaysekharam uncle , you are not a detective ."Monu -"Well I am trying to be one ."Monu then went to meet the person who was in the truck through which that accidenthad happened. From jail he got to know that he is out on bail , so he went to his home.

There he met a person whose name was Nikhil . He was the brother of Akhil , the personinvolved in the accident , at first he was not ready to say anything but when he said hesolved a lot of puzzle for Monu .Monu directly went to Kapoor villa , he called the whole family and then he brought thetruth in front of them . Monu said " So from a long time we were waiting for the truth tocome and it is uncovered now."Karan - " You got the thief ."Monu - " We don't need to because no thief was involved . It is not possible because if itwould have been a thief he must have stolen something or would have broken awindow to enter but nothing sort of that happened. As I investigated , I got to knowthat the person who did all this by mistake left a hair on Ram's body , a very long one .

Shalni - " It must be a female thief ."Monu - " It wasn't a thief but someone within the house ."Kundan - " You think it was our maid ?"Monu - " No , I think it was your wifeShalni - " What are you saying ?"Monu - " Yes you made a master plan to kill Mr. Kundan but you failed and Ram musthave found about it and that's why you did this cold blooded murder ."Shalni - " Do you have any proof ."

Monu - " Don't worry about that. I have enough proof to prove that you were behindthe accident of Mr. Kundan and enough proof to set a connection between this murderand that accident ."Shalni starts crying and shouts " Yes , I was behind that accident because Kundan washaving an affair and when I was trying to kill him again Ram saw me and that's why I

killed him."Kundan gets into a shock .Monu starts walking out when Karan says " Thanks Monu but that was very fast for anamateur ."Monureplies " That means I have lot to do and that was just the start beginning ."
