CORVETTES OF FRESNO - GENERAL MEETING MINUTES MARCH 21, 2017
Call to Order: President Chuck Ware called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Board Members present: Dave Trauger, Robb Kochevar, Gerri Ware, and Ruth Looney. Jim Agar was absent. The Pledge of Allegiance was shared by all. Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the February 21, 2017 meeting are published in the COF newsletter. A motion to waive the reading of the February 2017 Minutes was made by Jerry Najarian and seconded by Art Durham. Motion approved. A motion to accept the Minutes as printed in the February newsletter was made by Betsy Lindegren and seconded by Clay Mumby. Motion approved unanimously. Treasurer’s Report: Gerri Ware reported the accounts activity for March 2017, which is on file to be reviewed by members only. A Motion was made to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read by Betsy Lindegren and seconded by Nancy Teixeira. Motion approved unanimously. Gerri reported on the Tahoe 49 budget: Income $20,000; Expenses $17,575; Net Income $2,425, which will be given to charities. Bruce Looney made a motion to approve the Tahoe 49 budget, Angie DiLiddo seconded. Motion approved unanimously. Membership: Robb Kochevar reported we have 60 members present including 3 guests. Guests were Buddy and Elsa Pond and John Rogers. Last month we had 68 members present and 3 guests. We have 133 members and 90 corvettes. Anniversaries and Birthdays were acknowledged. Communication: Jim Agar was absent Webmaster: Webmaster Chris Campbell reported the site is up to date. Activities: Please refer to the Calendar of events in the club newsletter, or on the club web site, www.corvettesoffresno.com for more details and up to date information. Guests are encouraged to attend any event, come join the fun! Remember all sign up sheets are on the side table. Past Events: March 2, 2017: Good Vibrations March Meet Nostalgia Drag Racing. Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield. March 4, 2017: Blossom Trail Festival and Car Show in Sanger. Lee Delap reported it went very well. Awards went to: C4—Bert Sherman, C5—Steve and Jackey Profera, C6—Allen and Nancy Teixeira. March 7, 2017: Board meeting at the Old Spaghetti Factory on Shaw, 6:30 pm. March 11, 2017: Woodies in the Valley, Redwood High School, 1001 W. Main St., Visalia. March 14, 2017: Tahoe meeting at Denny’s on Blackstone, 7:00pm.
Up Coming Events: March 25, 2017: Mystery Lunch Run chaired by Gerri and Chuck Ware. Meet at 11:30am at the Sportsman Warehouse on Friant and Fresno, leave at noon. It’s $17 per person, payable to the Wares prior to the event. Probably be home about 3-4. April 1, 2017: Cars at the Park, Tulare, CA.
April 8, 2017: 17th Annual Tower Classic Car Show. They have said they don’t want any cars newer than 1972. April 11, 2017: Tahoe 49 meeting, Denny’s, Blackstone/Herndon, 7pm. April 14, 2017: Madera Classic Cars. Walgreens parking lot next to Madera Fairgrounds. April 14, 2017: Diane’s Dinner Run, Kingsburg, chaired by Harry Bellows. Meet at Denny’s at Jenson and 99 at 5:15pm. Dinner is $17 for single, and $34 for a couple, payable to Harry prior to the event. April 15, 2017: Kingsburg Car Show. April 20-22, 2017: 20th Gambler’s Classic by Corvettes of Bakersfield. Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort, Laughlin NV. Flyer on table. April 22, 2017: Minarets High School Senior Project Car Show. April 22-26 2017 Bryce Canyon, Zion and St. George Run (FULL). There is a $40 charge per couple, payable to Nancy and Allen prior to the event. It covers the BBQ/dinner the St. George members are giving us the last night we are there. Allen will be calling everyone on the sign-up list prior to event. Tahoe 49: Allen reported we have 31 entries and things are moving right along. Also in preparation is the Tahoe 50 event. We have already received 1 registration for it. WSCC: If you haven’t received the Redline Magazine, please let Allen know. Sunshine Report: Betsy Lindegren reported that there was nothing to report. Old Business: Allen is continuing to take orders for the new club shirt. Next year we will vote on the color of the shirt. New Business: None Name Tag Drawing: Jane Rodriguez’ name was drawn and she was present. She received $10. Next month’s drawing will be $10. 50/25/25 Raffle: Winners this month received $43 and they were Lee Delap and Don Dukes. There being no further business a motion was made by Nick DiLiddo to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by Clay Mumby. The meeting was adjourned at 7:36 pm.

8th Annual Vettes and Vets & American Muscle CarShow May 29 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Everyone knows summer is car show season, so come join us for a FREE car show on Memorial Day as we kick off the
summer and honor the servicemen and women who have served our country!
Our 8th Annual Vettes and Vets & American Muscle Car show will take place on Monday, May 29th 2017 from 9:00
am to 3:00 pm. All makes and models are welcome, but we especially love American made muscle cars and Corvettes
from all generations.
If you would like to show your car, the registration cost is $30 for general public, $25 for Museum members (Pre-
registration price; cost will go up at the gate). This includes free admission to the Museum for the driver and one
guest.
We will also have a DJ spinning some classic summer tunes, military color guard and national anthem, vendors, food
available for purchase, and more! We will also be judging cars in several different categories, including a best-in-division
award for each generation of Corvette.
Admission to the Museum is free for all active duty military, retired veterans, and their families.

February 2017 Corvette Sales
The last few GM Sales Reports have seen Corvette
sales on a roller coaster. Up and Down! The latest
report from General Motors came out this
morning covering sales from last month. Where
January was bad for Corvette sales, February
brings good news!
Corvette sales for February 2017 totaled 2,081
units which was -1.7% off the total from the 2,116
sold in February 2016. For the calendar year to date (Jan-Feb), Corvette sales totaled 3,344 or -7.5% from the
3,617 sold during the same time last year.
The 1,263 Corvettes delivered in January 2017 was the lowest monthly total for sales ever during the C7 era.
Looking at the historical chart below, we see that March tends to do better than February so it would be nice
to string together a few months of strong sales before the summer shutdown arrives.
Checking Chevrolet.com for special offers, we see the same two financing deals available for 2016 and 2017
models:

General Motors sold 188,715 vehicles in February 2017 to retail customers and 237,388 total overall. Retail
sales were up 5 percent and market share equals 17.7 percent.
Chevrolet’s had its best February retails sales since 2007 and its best February in total sales since 2008. Trax,
Equinox and Volt all had their best sales totals ever and the new Bolt EV nearly sold 1,000 units.
Scorned Wife Parks Ford on Cheating Husband’s 1958 Corvette at Walmart
Only at Walmart, right?
The initial story from an eyewitness is
that an older woman spots her husband
with a younger woman at Walmart and
loses it. She launched the Ford at the
1958 Corvette and ended up on top.
Please God, let this story remain true to
those facts because c’mon, we all need a
good laugh once in a while. While it
sounds like one of Jordan Taylor’s crazy stories, it did happen at Walmart so anything is possible.
Stolen 1960 Corvette Autorama Show Car Found Chopped and Burned
After pouring his heart and soul into his
1960 Corvette, Dave Fischbach suffered
the ultimate sorrow for a car enthusiast
last week when police discovered that
thieves had destroyed his red 1960 Chevy
Corvette.
Once he bought the classic Corvette in
2002 or 2003, Fischbach and his crew at
Dave’s Collision & Car Repair in Bellaire
poured countless hours into restoring the car over the next 10 years.
“There wasn’t anything we didn’t do to that car,” he said.
Fischbach was proud of the national awards the car had won and indeed planned to show it at Autorama,
a custom car show in Detroit that was held Feb. 24-26, choosing a Southgate hotel that had security
cameras and lights in the parking lot to keep his pride and joy safe overnight.
Or so he thought.
Fischbach woke up on the morning of Feb. 22, only to discover that his 1994 Ford F-350 turbo diesel fuel
show truck was gone, as was the 42-foot aluminum trailer containing the Corvette and a Jeep.
Police quickly found the Jeep, but sadly, they later found the truck burned and the Corvette destroyed.
“They took a three-time National Corvette Show winner and cut it up in three pieces and burned it,”
Fischbach told the Traverse City Record-Eagle on Thursday. “I can’t even describe my feelings. They
totally destroyed my passion for cars right now.”
The incident is being investigated by several Detroit-area police agencies, but Fischbach said no arrests
have been made.
“This (investigation) could be ongoing for years,” he said.
Fischbach has been restoring cars as a “passion” for about 40 years, calling the vehicles “works of art”
and “not just history.”
While all the vehicles were insured and he’ll get reimbursed financially for his loss, no one can put a price
tag on the emotional pain.
As he put it, “They didn’t just destroy a car, they destroyed me.”
Corvette is Fourth On List of Vehicles with Greatest Dealer Stockpiles
We’ve been saying for a while now that Corvette
inventories are at the highest levels we’ve seen during
the C7 era and now a report from Associated Press
helps put the numbers in context.
According to the AP as reported by FoxNews.com, the
Chevrolet Corvette ranks fourth on the list of Dealer
Inventories with a 267 day supply of Corvettes
available. It’s one of two Chevrolet vehicles on the list with Camaro coming in at sixth with a 236 day supply.
The AP says that sales of cars fell to just 36 percent of total US auto sales last month as truck, SUV and
crossover sales are booming:

Stockpiles are measured by the number of days the inventory would meet demand at the current sales
rate.
Corvette sales do tend to slow down during the winter months and a winter storm like the one that just
swept through the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern parts of the country last week can cause buyers to hold
off on making that purchase until clearer skies return.
It appears that Chevy is showing no signs of slowing down production as it plans to start building 2018
Model Year Corvettes immediately following the end of the 2017 model year on June 2nd. The inventory
levels will eventually be eased by the upcoming three month shutdown of the Bowling Green Assembly
Plant for upgrades to the assembly line process.
That being said, it’s a buyers market and we expect that to continue into the summer months. Now is a
great time to buy a Corvette as Chevrolet is offering special rebates and incentives on new Corvette sales
and many dealers are offering steep discounts off of MSRP to keep sales moving.
