SOCSFED
Warwick SU Societies Federation
Sponsorship Proposal 2012/13
2
Dear Potential Sponsor,As the newly-elected Societies Officer at Warwick Students’ Union I am writing to you to provide opportunities for you to promote your organisation to some of the most sought-after students in the UK. In 2011, extensive research conducted by High Fliers in conjunction with The Times found that top employers target Warwick University students more than any other UK institution, second only to Cambridge. The quality of academic teaching and research at Warwick is not the only thing that attracts such sought-after students here. Through its own Societies Federation, the Students’ Union runs more societies than any other University in the UK – 232 at the time of writing – and every year, over 10,000 students join at least one. Throughout the year, we host several occasions where all societies come together in order to develop their projects and celebrate their successes. Over the next few pages, I explain how your involvement in society activity can benefit the profile of your organisation, attract excel lent future graduates, and enhance the student experience at Warwick. Recognising that the West Midlands offers superb opportunities for our students, we hope to develop our relationship with local graduate employers. This is why we have approached you specifically – our close proximity means we can provide enhanced career opportunities to our students, whilst optimising your recruitment strategy. We are offering you the opportunity to sponsor at least one of the four packages described over the next few pages, or all four together. The latter package guarantees exclusivity of your brand throughout the coming academic year (from 1st October 2012 until 31st August 2013). Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Yours faithfully,
Silkie CraggSocieties Officer, Warwick SU

Warwick’s SocsFed has more societies than any other Students’ Union in the UK. It provides training sessions for executive committee members throughout the year on topics including marketing, financial management, fundraising, community engagement, and entrepreneurship. A note on fundraising
Last year Warwick RAG raised over £300,000 for various charities. SocsFed is implementing a renewed strategy to ensure this figure increases dramatically over the next year. By sponsoring SocsFed, we can guarantee:
• Banner and leaflet space in our brand new Student Resources Room and Student Lounge, two spaces where society execs meet and work on their projects. • Online advertising on our homepage (www.warwicksu.com/societies), which last year received 5 million hits and 377,000 unique visitors. • Your HTML banner on all emails sent out to members (10,704 recipients per email last year) and executive committees (1,555 recipients per email last year). • Your logo on all training literature (online and offline). • We also welcome your input to and attendance at our training events, and hope we can work together in order to enhance employability and promote best practice through your own insights. • The fulfilment of your own Corporate Social Responsibility goals through the direct financial and consultative support you provide.

Societies Fair at Warwick is the biggest of its kind in the UK. It is a huge three day event held at the beginning of term 1 in the Students’ Union, and is open to all first years, returners, international students and postgraduates. Societies each have a stall and recruit new members here – last year, almost 10,000 signed up on the day.
By sponsoring Societies Fair, we can guarantee:
• The biggest brand exposure opportunity in the University calendar. • Banner space in up to four different locations inside and outside the venue. • Your own stall, for all three days - a great way to recruit excellent students. • Excellent networking and follow-up opportunities with potential graduates. • Superb data-capturing opportunities throughout the event.
Package 2: Societies Fair Cost: £1500 + VAT (£500 per day)
The Opportunity Fund is designed to financially support societies with the exciting range of activities they engage in. In particular it provides funding for societies to take advantage of unanticipated opportunities that arise each year. For example, last year Warwick Wind Orchestra applied for an entry fee and transport subsidy which allowed them to compete in the final of the National Concert Band Competition. It also funds students who wish to set up a new society.
It is predominantly advertised at our compulsorily attended Societies Convention (500 attendees each term), and in one dedicated email to executive committee members each term. By sponsoring The Opportunity Fund, we can guarantee:
• The re-naming of the Fund as the ‘Your name here’ Opportunity Fund’ • The association of your brand with Warwick University’s most entrepreneurial and innovative students.
Package 3: The Opportunity Fund Cost: £2000 + VAT
