Reflection by Peter Mitchell (Mitch) - MJR: Build A Bridge And Get Over It. When a problem comes our way, very often we can “drop our bundle” and give up, or get our parents or another adult to solve it. Sometimes you hear the expression “accept a challenge.” You feel a lot better about yourself if you can build a bridge and get over a problem. Obviously if there are really big problems you need help from parents and teachers. For the small things that can upset us, such as not having your joggers, hat or a book and you have to miss an activity, try to manage them yourself—build a bridge and get over the small problem. This is clearly linked with being resilient. Holiday wishes: To all students, families and staff have a wonderful two weeks holiday. SCHOOL NEWS

Kindy Enrolments 2014: Please complete an enrolment application form and drop it into the

school office if you have a child due to start Kindy in 2014. Eligible children would be born

01/07/2009—30/06/2010. Families with students already in the school still need to enrol

children for 4 year old Kindy.

St Vincent DePaul Request for Warm Blankets—One week drive: Thank you for your

donations of warm blankets and clothing. The local St Vincent DePaul Society are very

grateful.

News from Mrs Landwehr: Year 3/4 We have read "Gulliver's Travels" and completed work

in English, Science and Mathematics. We made salt dough models of Gulliver tied up to a cart

by the Lilliputians, play dough symmetrical food from Laputa Island where the scientists are

obsessed by Mathematics, made 3D story bags and written Wonder Clouds and Menus from our

own Fast Food Laputan Restaurant. To recount our activities, we completed Procedure and

Recount Plans.

Year 5 In Science, we studied the planets, asteroids and meteors, also making a lolly UFO, an

alien from red icing and biscuits and our own Intergalactic Passport to travel into space.

We also researched animals, their foods, habitats and characteristics. This information was

presented on our iPads and written out on paper, as well as making a 3D triorama model of our

animal in its habitat.

CatholicCare Appeal – Thank you!: Bishop Holohan has expressed his sincere appreciation

to all those who contributed to CatholicCare this year, particularly through the annual

Christmas Appeal and the school children participating in the Gold Coin Days.

Bishop Holohan was very pleased to be able to distribute a total of $23,000 to 15

St Vincent De Paul Society Conferences across the Diocese. These funds will assist in the

wonderful work provided by ‘Vinnies’ to those in need throughout our Diocese.

Catholic Care is the charitable arm of the Bunbury Diocese and its motto is “People Helping

People”. It was established in 2003 and provides funding for people willing to assist those in

need across the general community throughout the Bunbury Diocese, irrespective of their

religious affiliation or non-affiliation.

Waroona Shire Banner: The Shire asked us to design and paint

a banner to go on display in the city with banners from other

Shires. Mrs Fuller, Miss Vidulich and the Year 6/7 class took on

this challenge and created a ‘fantabulous’ banner illustrating the

Waroona Shire ‘from sea to scarp.’ Next time you’re in the city,

keep an eye out for it.

Corrections: The last newsletter had incorrectly stated a Holy

Communicant’s name. Apologies and special mention to Emily

Rowland.

Within the last newsletter were a list of names of students who

had participated in the recent Dance Eisteddfod in Bunbury,

however one name was inadvertently missed. Apologies and special mention to Braidy Rossell

who participated in this event.

Milk Cartons For Italian: Mrs Polinelli, our fab Italian teacher, has requested washed empty

milk/choc. milk/whipping cream cartons (not plastic bottles) of any size and empty cereal

boxes. Please drop them off at the letterbox of 58 Hesse Street (across the road from the school)

over the July school holidays.

Parish News

A big Thank You to Riley-Jane N (Y6/7) for
