The Edward T. Smith Orthopaedic Lectureship Series has been a tradition in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery for the past 59 years in honor of our first Chairman, Edward T. Smith, MD. The activity is directed primarily towards surgeons, residents, fellows and allied healthcare providers currently treating patients for musculoskeletal disease and/or injury. A distinguished faculty will present their experience, techniques and pearls of wisdom regarding current treat-ments and procedures available. Ample question and answer sessions will be provided.

SPORTS MEDICINE AND ORTHOPEDIC PHYSICIANS, FELLOWS, RESIDENTS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, ORTHOPEDIC NURSES, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS, ORTHOPEDIC SURGICAL ASSISTANTS AND OTHER HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS INTERESTED IN ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY AND SPORTS MEDICINE.

• Assess, evaluate and manage injuries to all four major ligaments of the knee along with treatment options.• Recognize current knee ligament reconstructive procedures.• Formulate alternative surgical approaches for the treatment of knee ligament injuries. • Discuss actual cases of various sports- related traumatic injuries and their

management strategies based on new knowledge of pathophysiology and technical advances.• Apply innovative methods of assessment and management for various trauma and sports related injuries, relating to the specific needs of the individual patient.• Learn and practice new surgical skills through participation in hands-on cadaver labs.

Physicians: CME Accreditation This activity has been planned and implementedin accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Nevada School of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. The University of Nevada School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
