CURRENT EVENTS

SPRC NEWSSeveral weeks ago, Jim Wall [our Director of Senior Adult Ministries] requested that he be allowed to reduce hiswork load by one day a week and take a 20% reduction in salary. Jim cited as the primary reasons [a] workoverload and [b] the desire to have more time at home.

At the January meeting, the Staff-Parish Relations Committee discussed and approved Jim's request, which wentinto effect immediately. Jim Wall's new hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. If Jim works onother days, he will be given time off to compensate for his work.

TUESDAY LADIES BIBLE STUDY The Tuesday Ladies Bible Study will begin a Lenten Study on Tuesday, February 5 at 9:30 a.m. “Theth

Way: Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus” by Adam Hamilton will help us to see and experience thethings Jesus saw as he traveled the length and breadth of Galilee and Judea. Hamilton’s book is alsoa call to discipleship with a challenge for us to a greater commitment to Jesus as Lord and King of ourlives. All are welcome to come and journey with us! MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM

CLUB 412 and ZONEThere will be NO activities this coming Sunday evening. Regular activities will resume next Sunday!

MISSIONARY SCAVENGER HUNTLast Sunday evening Club 412 enjoyed an evening of locating missionaries within ourchurch. It was a fun-filled three hour event that led to the homes of Martha Wright, MarthaLemmons, Robin Ivey, Phyllis Campbell, Nell Grissom and Julia Green. A Special thankyou to these members for opening their homes to us, and for all of the selfless hours theyput into missions right here in our own city and church! Check out the bulletin board in theCrossing to see the clues that the students had to decipher in order to get to each point.Thank you Lisa Sellers for spending many hours on the ingenious clues!

We would like to thank each and everyone for your generosityin helping these middle school students. A special thanks to Julia Green for delivering the coats and blanketsto the school. There are so many students that are warm because Central has such warm, loving members.

ASH WEDNESDAYAsh Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent; a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observinga period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. On February 13 at 6:00 p.m., we will once againth

observe this time with a Spiritual Walk of Silence, Imposition of Ashes, Holy Communion, and a Labyrinth Walk. Ourevening will begin with dinner being served at 5-5:45 p.m. in the 11 Street Gym. We will then move to the Sanctuary forth

instructions on this time of meditation and reflection. Look for more information and preparation in our Daily Updates andin next week’s Central Call.
