Praise, My Soul, the King of HeavenPraise, my soul, the King of heaven; to His feet thy tribute bring; Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, evermore His praises sing. Alleluia, alleluia,Praise the everlasting King.

Praise Him for His grace and favour to our fathers in distress; Praise Him still the same forever, slow to chide and swift to bless; Alleluia, alleluia,Glorious in His faithfulness.

Fatherlike, He tends and spares us, well, our feeble frame He knows; In His Hands, He gently bears us, rescues us from all our foes; Alleluia, alleluia,Widely as His mercy flows.

Frail as summer's flower we flourish; blows the wind and it is gone; But, while mortals rise and perish, God endures unchanging on. Alleluia, alleluia,Praise the high eternal One.

Angels, help us to adore Him; ye behold Him face to face;Sun and moon bow down before Him; dwellers all in time and space. Alleluia, alleluia,Praise with us the God of grace.

Lead On, O King EternalLead on, 0 King Eternal, the day of march has come;Henceforth in fields of conquest Thy tents shall be our home: Thro' days of preparation Thy grace has made us strong, And now, 0 King Eternal, we lift our battle song.

Lead on, 0 King Eternal, till sin's fierce war shall cease, And holiness shall whisper the sweet amen of peace; For not with swords' loud clashing, nor roll of stirring drums; With deeds of love and mercy the heav'nly Kingdom comes.

Lead on, 0 King Eternal, we follow, not with fears; For gladness breaks like morning where'er Thy face appears; Thy cross is lifted o'er us; we journey in its light:The crown awaits the conquest; Lead on, 0 God of might.

Reception to follow.

Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven, public domain;Come, Thou Almighty King, public domain;Lead On, 0 King Eternal, public domain.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI 2005Tyndale University CollegeJack E. Phillips, BTh, 1953Jack grew up as a Christian. After attending Business College, he enrolled at Toronto Bible College in 1950. In 1953, he graduated and with his new wife, Dorothy, he attended teachers' college. In October 1954, armed with their teaching credentials, the couple worked in West Africa with the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM). This was the beginning of 20 fulfilling years of ministry in Nigeria. Jack's passion for seeing others come to know the Lord coupled with his passion for education led him to a teaching position at the Minna School for Missionary Children. Jack would later become principal of Kent Academy, where he served until his family returned to Canada in 1975. Coming full circle, Jack assumed the position of Assistant to the Acting Director at SIM, before being promoted to Canadian Director where he served until retirement. Jack's heart for missions is obvious to all who meet him. In his retirement, he remains active as a mentor to missionaries.

Page 19: Spring 2005 Graduation

Tyndale SeminaryMichael B. Sandstrom, MDiv, 1998Prior to enrolling at the Seminary in 1995, Michael spent several years as an investment banker in his native country, Sweden. But Michael, not satisfied with the fast paced, competitive world of banking, emigrated to Hong Kong where he started his own business. Hong Kong brought many new and wonderful prospects into Michael's life. He met his wife, Man, and together they met many local and overseas missionaries who shared the love of Christ with the couple. Michael and Man were challenged by the gospel and sought to serve the Lord more wholly with their time and gifts. The couple was led to Toronto where Michael began his practical ministry training. Michael's graduation was seven short years ago but in that time, his ministry with the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (NCEM) has changed many lives. Michael lives with his wife and two children in Fort Vermilion, where the family serves as missionaries to native people in northern Alberta. Michael is involved in many ministries including leading short-term missions teams in summer and radio ministry.

HISTORY OF TYNDALE UNIVERSITYCOLLEGE & SEMINARY

Tyndale is the result of two schools joining in 1968: Toronto Bible College (TBC) and London College of Bible and Missions (LCBM). The Toronto school was founded in 1894, and is the third oldest school (after Moody Bible Institute and Nyack College) of its kind in North America. Known first as Toronto Bible Training School and then as Toronto Bible College, the school was located near the University of Toronto. Its founding President was Rev. Elmore Harris, Minister of the historic Walmer Road Baptist Church and a member of the Massey-Ferguson family.

London College of Bible and Missions was founded in 1935 as London Bible Institute by Dr. J. Wilmot Mahood. In 1968 LCBM and TBC merged, and became Ontario Bible College. In 1976, the College moved to its present location in North York.

The development of the graduate school, Ontario Theological Seminary, evolved naturally out of a demand by church, missions and students for a graduate level studies.

The name Tyndale was adopted in 1998 as part of a renewed vision to build a great centre of Christian higher education. Its namesake, William Tyndale, an early Protestant reformer and the first person to translate the Holy Scriptures from the original languages into English, serves as a model for scholarship, Christian faith and vision.

On June 26, 2003 the Ontario Legislative Assembly passed Bill Pr21, which granted permission to change the name to Tyndale University College & Seminary and for the University College to offer Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degrees in the humanities, social sciences and business.

Tyndale is an evangelical, transdenominational school with over 1,200 students and more than 9,000 alumni.

Page 21: Spring 2005 Graduation

THE CREST OF TYNDALEUNIVERSITY COLLEGE & SEMINARY

The name is taken from the father of the English Bible, William Tyndale (1494-1536).

Founded in 1894, Tyndale was first known as Toronto Bible Training School.

In 1968 London College of Bible and Missions and Toronto Bible College merged.

The lantern is a symbol taken from Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."

The Greek term douloi Cristou best describes Tyndale's vision, which is to be servants of Christ.

Our mission: To educate and equip Christians to serve the world with passion for Jesus Christ.
