Schedule

Any deviation from this schedule requires written approval from the FDOE prior to implementation.

*Selected schools only – Biology: CLHS, HRHS, OCSA, NDHS / Geometry: PATHS and PNHS

• Districts may schedule one or more sessions per day, depending on school-level circumstances.

Page 9: Spring 2011 End-of-Course Assessments Algebra 1 Biology 1 Field Test Geometry Field Test TRAINING MATERIALS

What’s New for Spring 2011

• All EOC assessments are computer-based tests. Paper-based accommodations (regular print, large print, braille, and

one-item-per-page) are provided for Algebra 1 only. Accommodated CBT forms (e.g., large print, color contrast, zoom,

screen reader) will not be provided for this administration. Administration accommodations (e.g., flexible setting, flexible

scheduling) may be provided to eligible students participating in EOC assessments as specified on their IEPs, Section 504 plans, or ELL plans. All accommodations actually used must be recorded in PearsonAccess after testing.

• The Algebra 1 EOC Assessment is administered in one 160-minute session with a scheduled break after 80 minutes. Additional time may be provided, if needed. Students may be permitted to leave after the scheduled 10-minute break. Testing must be completed within the same school day.

• A CBT Test Administrator user role has been created in PearsonAccess to allow test administrators to resume computer-based tests. Districts/schools determine whether these accounts are created for test administrators.

Page 10: Spring 2011 End-of-Course Assessments Algebra 1 Biology 1 Field Test Geometry Field Test TRAINING MATERIALS

• Mathematics Work Folder is now called Florida Computer-Based Testing Work Folder.

• Students are required to participate in a practice test at the school using the script provided in the CBT test administration manual. Practice test is delivered using an ePAT (electronic practice

assessment test). ePAT is available for student to practice on their own.

• After participating in a practice test for Algebra 1 or Biology 1, students can request an FCAT hand-held calculator to use on the day of testing.

• Students can request a hand-held scientific calculator if the school/district elects to provide these to students. (The FDOE does not provide hand-held scientific calculators.)

What’s New for Spring 2011

Page 11: Spring 2011 End-of-Course Assessments Algebra 1 Biology 1 Field Test Geometry Field Test TRAINING MATERIALS

• Algebra 1/Geometry EOC Reference Sheet and the Periodic Table of the Elements are provided in the CBT platform, TestNav 6.9, for the applicable assessments. Schools must provide hardcopy reference sheets or periodic

tables to students. Hardcopy reference sheets must be single-page, double-sided

photocopies of the reference sheet that is in Appendix D of the EOC manual.

Hardcopy periodic tables must be one-page, single-sided photocopies of the periodic table that is in Appendix D of the EOC manual.

• One proctor is required for every 25 students for computer-based testing.

What’s New for Spring 2011

Page 12: Spring 2011 End-of-Course Assessments Algebra 1 Biology 1 Field Test Geometry Field Test TRAINING MATERIALS

• Students may not have any electronic or recording devices at their desks, in their pockets, or anywhere they can reach them during testing, even if the devices are turned off or the students do not use them. If a student is found to be in possession of ANY electronic device(s) during

testing, his or her test must be invalidated in order to successfully enforce this policy.

• Inappropriate actions by school or district personnel before, during, or after test administration may result in consequences including test invalidations and/or loss of teaching certification. Carefully read the Test Security Policies and Procedures to ensure that you

are following the correct procedures. District assessment coordinators must require school administrators,

school assessment coordinators, test administrators, and proctors to sign a Florida EOC Test Administration and Security Agreement.

Security of all test materials, including Student Authorization Tickets, must be maintained before, during, and after test administration.

Schools are required to maintain an accurate Security Log for each testing room.

Reminders for Spring 2011

Page 13: Spring 2011 End-of-Course Assessments Algebra 1 Biology 1 Field Test Geometry Field Test TRAINING MATERIALS

• FDOE encourages schools and districts to consider recycling manuals and other non-secure ancillary materials after scores have been reported.

• Test administrators must NOT administer the EOC assessments to their family members.

• If a student starts a test and leaves school without finishing (for an appointment, illness, etc.), he/she will NOT be allowed to complete the test.

• Administration manuals must be provided to itinerant teachers in time for them to prepare.

• Practice tests (ePATs) can be used at any time, up to the day before the test.

• Forms and materials for EOC can be found at www.FLAssessments.com/EOC: Test Irregularities/Security Breaches form and Missing Materials form Training Materials Comment Forms Blank Administration Record/Security Checklist (for paper-based tests) Security Log

Training – Before Testing• Test administrators must contact the school

assessment coordinator if any of the following situations occur: A student has not participated in a practice test. A student has trouble logging in the first time or experiences

technical difficulties during testing. A test administrator does not have a Student Authorization

Ticket. A student’s name or student ID number is not correct on the

Student Authorization Ticket. A test administrator is concerned that a student is unable (e.g.,

too ill) to finish the test. A student Exits the test to finish later and logs out of the test

session. (Algebra 1 only) A student has not completed the test at the end

of the allotted time and will need additional time to continue working.

Create Test Sessions (After 4/11/11)

• Three ways of organizing test sessions

1. By Test Group – only includes students in a particular group (e.g., class, testing room) who will be testing togetherAdvantage: PearsonAccess can be used to manage the testing groups and session rosters will include only one group of students testing togetherDisadvantage: will require setup and management of more sessions

2. By Test Day – includes all students in a school to be tested in a subject on a particular dayAdvantage: greater security because a session can be started and stopped on the same dayDisadvantage: requires coordination of testing groups at the school

Create Test Sessions (continued)

3. By Test Administration – includes all students scheduled to be tested in a subject during the entire test administrationAdvantage: limits setup and management to one session and additional make-up sessions do not need to be createdDisadvantage: test sessions are open and active during the entire testing window, which may present a security concern; greater coordination of testing groups at schools; and may be cumbersome to locate and manage specific students
