The Winton Life Centre inWimborne Road is nowopen for residents to useand enjoy. It’s a clean, modern building that’sthrown off its bingo hallhistory.
Councillor Theo Stratton(who attended a business
reception there, opened bythe Mayor of Bournemouth)is excited to see the new facilities. Hecommented: “It’s simplybrilliant news that there’slife once more in thiswonderful Art Decobuilding. It’s a real bonusfor our community.”
Sometimes all you need is a good night’ssleep. So when residents in Parker Roadcomplained about a neighbour’s regular, late night amplified music, the Councilstepped in and issued a Noise AbatementNotice.
Unfortunately, the offender still didn’t takethe hint and so two months later theCouncil went to court where the penalty
was a £200 fine and the confiscation of thesound equipment.
Cllr Anniina Davie commented, “We all needconsider our neighbours. This incidentshows that your councillors will stick up forvictims of antisocial behaviour.”

It’s taken a bit of time, but yourthree Conservative councillors arepleased to see work starting toimprove road safety at St Luke’sschool. A new 20 mph zonearound the school will protect bothchildren and local residents andwill slow traffic right down. Thescheme includes roadworks andalterations on a number of localroads.
Your councillors Johann Edwardand Theo Stratton fought hard forlocal residents to get their viewsacross. This led to significantchanges in the planned works,
minimising any inconvenience tolocal people. As Theo says: “Wehad to make sure that these safetychanges would work in practice. What we’ve got now is a schemethat protects our kids on the way toand from school but doesn’t causeundue inconvenience by alteringthe road system unnecessarily.”
The new scheme preservesresidents’ parking spaces andsaves taxpayers’ money. Theimprovements protect people onthe roads and pavements ofWinton and make our area safer towalk, cycle or drive in.
Your local councillors have got togetherto use Local Improvement Fund moneyto buy a new “trap bike” for WintonPolice.
We’re responding to your concernsabout bike thefts in our area and thePolice now have a great way to fightback. The trap bike enables the Police
to attack this crime and catchoffenders. The bike is fitted with GPStechnology so the Police can track itdown and deal with the offenders.
We want to encourage more cyclingand are doing our bit to keep yourproperty safe.
