The Winton Life Centre in Wimborne Road is now open for residents to use and enjoy. It’s a clean, modern building that’s thrown off its bingo hall history. Councillor Theo Stratton (who attended a business reception there, opened by the Mayor of Bournemouth) is excited to see the new facilities. He commented: “It’s simply brilliant news that there’s life once more in this wonderful Art Deco building. It’s a real bonus for our community.” Sometimes all you need is a good night’s sleep. So when residents in Parker Road complained about a neighbour’s regular, late night amplified music, the Council stepped in and issued a Noise Abatement Notice. Unfortunately, the offender still didn’t take the hint and so two months later the Council went to court where the penalty was a £200 fine and the confiscation of the sound equipment. Cllr Anniina Davie commented, “We all need consider our neighbours. This incident shows that your councillors will stick up for victims of antisocial behaviour.” LOCAL NEWS FROM YOUR WINTON EAST WARD COUNCILLORS www.wintoneast.com CLLR ANNIINA DAVIE CLLR JOHANN EDWARD CLLR THEO STRATTON COUNCILLORS FOR WINTON EAST WARD Promoted by M Greene on behalf of Bournemouth West Conservatives both at 135 Hankinson Road, Bournemouth, Dorset BH9 1HR and printed by Marquee Print, Unit 2, 20 Wharfdale Service Road, Westbourne BH4 9BT It’s taken a bit of time, but your three Conservative councillors are pleased to see work starting to improve road safety at St Luke’s school. A new 20 mph zone around the school will protect both children and local residents and will slow traffic right down. The scheme includes roadworks and alterations on a number of local roads. Your councillors Johann Edward and Theo Stratton fought hard for local residents to get their views across. This led to significant changes in the planned works, minimising any inconvenience to local people. As Theo says: “We had to make sure that these safety changes would work in practice. What we’ve got now is a scheme that protects our kids on the way to and from school but doesn’t cause undue inconvenience by altering the road system unnecessarily.” The new scheme preserves residents’ parking spaces and saves taxpayers’ money. The improvements protect people on the roads and pavements of Winton and make our area safer to walk, cycle or drive in. Your local councillors have got together to use Local Improvement Fund money to buy a new “trap bike” for Winton Police. We’re responding to your concerns about bike thefts in our area and the Police now have a great way to fight back. The trap bike enables the Police to attack this crime and catch offenders. The bike is fitted with GPS technology so the Police can track it down and deal with the offenders. We want to encourage more cycling and are doing our bit to keep your property safe.
